Ah, yes, the best thing the Velma show gave us: frustrated fans with way more talent than the show writers that decided to prove they can do better with a smaller budget.
No, it's not a white dog. The word your looking for has an n in the middle of do g. I like that Scooby-Doo in this is akin to this force of cosmic horror. (In one of the many shows of Scooby-Doo, I think one from the early 2010s, Scoob is discovered to be a descendant of a race of beings that early humans worshipped as gods. They had animal heads, sometimes were just animals, and it all culminated with Scooby-Doo.)
@@ChicagoReacts Man Mystery Incorporated 2010 series was wild I remember in one episode a German robots killed one of the side characters with a machinegun.
Don't watch Velma. It's so openly racist and sexist, and celebrates that fact constantly. And every single character is just... the worst person. Like everyone's a sociopath in the whole universe. And since Mindy Kaling self inserted as Velma and wrote the whole thing... that means Mindy is a sociopath. She can only write what she knows. Don't let her near your kids.
for some context, this latest incarnation of the group and especially velma has been categorically the worst yet, its disgustingly bad that it received the lowest ratings in rotten-tomatoes history. edit: which is why when this fan animation came out, despite being a horror everyone was cheering for scoob to end this nightmare. 2nd edit: also when OG velma asked why scooby doo can talk at all, this actually happened. this was in an episode a very long time ago and it was brushed off by the gang, but in later sequels and movies it was later revealed that scooby was a descendant of alien gods, capable of warping time, space, and reality to their whim.
I think Scoobs explains the message better himself: Scooby-Doo is supposed to be simple dumb fun about solving mysteries. However every reboot/sequel started making the plot more complex and further away from its simplicity. Velma show here being the furthest thing from "simple dumb fun" and delving into social/political commentary (and also basically turning the show into a hate watch for some).
7:14 I think in this Scooby-Doo is a kind of monster that attached itself to a group of kids or a town even to play out a fantasy. He may not have created the world but he controls that area.
It would have been some 4D chess if this was how the first season ended. Would had a massive surge in ratings and actual anticipation for what might happen in Season 2. If this were the ending it would have put the rest of the season in the perspective that this WAS a flawed universe and even some meta commentary about how crazy the world’s become. Unfortunately, hindsight is 20/20 and Satire’s become either the norm or a prophecy.
There is a fan theory that Shaggy is just a stoner that is imagining his dead dog talking to him and that the gang is actually his school bullies. It's really sad and I cant remember where I saw it
@@frostbite2179 I didn't come up with it and also I don't believe that it's true. I just like listening to fan theories on things even if I don't believe them
Normally I would say "to each their own". Heck, I'd even say "If you like the Star Wars sequel trilogy or the Phase 4 Marvel movies, more power to you". But not for Velma, this is probably the most toxic and hateful show I ever seen and I only saw half of the pilot. It hates the source material, it's own audience, heck, it hates itself. It's essentially an elaborate twitter post, in the guise of an animated show. The writing is bad too.
The problem with the Velma show is that it is a rare case of a show that does everything possible to go out of its way to be hated. While She-Hulk had problems due to the poorly paced story, plus the arrogance and inexperienceone of the writers and producers, Velma is different. The 1st trailer mocks fandoms for being against having their childhood rebooted and altered for "a modern audience", and one of the main producers responded to criticisms of the character designs by calling people "racist". Then the show comes out and not only proves people right about the characters being stereotypical, but they are written in a way that would annoy even someone that has never seen any Scooby Doo show before- with Velma being downright sadistic and sociopathic. The writers seemingly do not understand nuance, so they tried to shove in meta social commentary statements as "jokes" 80% of the time - when Velma isn't belittling her "friends". Worst of all, they throw out the most important aspect of a Scooby Doo show, arguably even more important than Scooby and the Mystery Machine- the feeling of friendship. Edit: Sorry for the rant, the show just gets under my skin. If the Chicago team want a more interesting breakdown, The Brain Pilot has a great review of the show from a writer's POV.
@6:06 nooooppe, "tiny white dong" is what she was going to say. She says it almost through the whole "first half" of the first season. there is a lot of racism towards white people in the show, mainly in the "first half of the first season" and it mainly "comes from" or "is directed AT" fred.
@7:28 its heavily implied scooby destroyed the old universe after killing the [mystery corp, the scooby doo gang, etc] and rebuilt the world to his liking every time but in killing them he loses more and more of what makes them "them".
@7:39 that's just a very popular theory. this I'd imagine is playing off the "[mui ]shaggy/shaggy is a god" meme a few years back. where scooby was often "the god of destruction" in the images.
Of course, anyone who knows the actual lore behind why Scooby talks knows that Scooby is part of an alien species that inhabits the minds of animals. He's an Anunnaki, as is Scrappy and several other talking animals featured on the show. Furthermore, canonically, Scooby actually doesn't have any issue with the gang knowing about this, as proven during the episode where Velma is literally reading information about Scooby's alien race. There's an entire episode focused on answering just that question, even featuring unique Anunnaki characters that don't show up in any other episode.
Scooby is like a descendent of some guardians. It was the movie with the other talking dog that isn't scrappy. It was with pyramids im pretty sure. It has been a while.
I mean, technically Scooby-Doo is descended from shape-shifting intelligent aliens. Can't be sure if that detail is canon in general or from a specific series.
The original Scooby Doo series was created by the same guy who created the Flintstones in the Jetsons. The show was originally called Scooby Doo Where Are You and aired in the late 60s & early 70s. I don't buy into the fan theory That Scooby is the reincarnation of an alien. An alien sole in a dog. The original scooby doo was a metaphor for marijuana use. Think about it they drive a hippie van, Shaggy & Scooby have the munchies & They're up past midnight paranoid about monsters. They're pot heads
You know this could be possible... Scooby is a descendent of the anunnaki.. or maybe this is what he planted so that the gang doesn't suspect him... That too didn't work out so this time he was planning to act like a normal dog.. Edit: I love the small details.... Scooby said "ugh!" because the real Velma would never have said that...
The 'tiny white dog' thing could be another 'meta' joke towards...certain size attributes of races, but I assure you there is no Scooby in the Velma show. One of the many things they bastardized on this show including the terms 'zoinks' and 'jinkies' (both are drugs now), Velma's atrocious personality and the way most of the people act in this show. One cop rammed Velma with a car and was smiling about it while she was on the ground, loosing teeth from the impact.
As the potion seller said. " In a perfect world this show wouldn't exist. But this is not a perfect world now is it" Give them few more years the cartoon character would have their own genders or so bs like this. Every year passes people get more and more and more fked up. Untill one day when we all get what we deserve. When you as an individual organism become the plague. Then some or something must eradicate you or should I say us all. Back to the point. This Scooby is right. The things are better when they are simpler. The soon that you start complicated things. The simplicity of fun disappear. Is like that idk saying. The Ship of Theseus. Replace everything from the original with identical parts. What happens next can be really called the same thing as before or is something new. That's something you all decide.
