I hear SRV inspired licks very clearly. This guy does an incredible job of adding his own flair to SRV's tricks, therefore making it new. I can't believe I've never heard of this man.
Saw him playing with Jeff healey at shepherds bush empire back in 98-99 and blew me away. He deserves more credit man . He's a fantastic bluesman, I would put him up with the greats of all time.
Interesting technique of turning his guitar volume down in such a small venue that you can still hear the strings then build it up from there. Thanks for sharing, anjani . Always cool discovering musicians I've been unaware of.
Still blows my mind. I was standing next to anjani as she recorded it,6 feet from the stage. Great music in a small club…one of the perks of living in LA.
I love the look of intense seriousness and then a crazy fast lick...and then dynamics. he kills it. brings you right in and tears your head off in a good way! :)
Wow Philip can tear up a vintage Strat in no time. I don't think he's even had that guitar for two years. His sweat must be made of turpentine! I've never seen a finish leave a guitar so quickly.
Not true, just because he plays fast blues licks with a strat and has fat tone doesn't mean he's a srv clone. He has a similar approach but if you really watch and listen he's playing totally different licks just same speed and intensity

WoW! What a treat that must've been to see him in such a setting. Does he have any work out available?
+Thomas Johnston Yes he has a website with info philipsayce.com
