  • I spent the last 2 weeks shadowing different surgical specialities and getting lost in large hospitals. I learned a lot about different surgical proceudres as well as med student and resident life.

    ABOUT ME
    My name is Kian (21), I have a quirky sense of humour, and my favourite organ is the kidney (who makes regular appearances in my videos).
    Should all things go according to plan I will be graduating with my MD come 2022! My goal with this channel is to share the RAW and REALISTIC parts of being a medical student through my personal experience to better inform people who are interested in medical school...or at least make you smile
    I'm still learning how to make videos and I look forward to seeing how this channel IMPROVES and EVOLVES. Constructive feedback always welcome!

    Does anyone know if the surgical shadowing in this video is part of Kian’s curriculum or if it’s extra work she’s taken on?

    I love love love your videos, you're so genuine, the vlog style is perfect imo. I am 21 also, just started studying Occupational Therapy in Germany which feels like one thousandth of thvolume you are hammering into your brain so I am fascinated and just really enjoy seeing how med students do it. I'm super inspired, we'll be finishing school the same year (fingers crossed) so please keep going!

    Hey Kian! Cool video! Is this part of med school or is the shadowing something you're doing on the side?

    Why shadow in medical school? Is this not why we have clinical rotations?

    • @KianMDvlog
      @KianMDvlog  4 роки тому

      yes we have clinical rotations, but shadowing ahead of time can help you pick which rotations you would like to do and in what order you'd like to do them in!

    • @Dr.PaulCottrell
      @Dr.PaulCottrell 4 роки тому

      KianMDvlog thank you for the reply. In the U.S. we have core rotations and electives. One of the core rotations is surgery. In electives one can do additional rotations in surgery, e.g. surgical oncology or a sub internship in surgery. I enjoy your channel but I think you should add some details on what you want to do in residency and some information on that discipline.

    Hi Kian, once the graft has been sewn into the aorta what happens to the area that was previously swollen?

    • @KianMDvlog
      @KianMDvlog  5 років тому

      the graft goes inside the enlarged part of the aorta and helps reduce pressure on the previously "swollen" part of aorta making it less likely that it will burst
