  • I started experimenting with DIY EV motor from playing with Toyota Prius Gearbox and Inverter. In this video you can catch a summary of hundreds of hours of work starting from Open inverter board for Toyota Prius and getting it to work with Prius Gearbox as a motor.

      Yes you hit a bit of a pain point here. Initially I created this channel to do EV conversion but the work on EV conversion doesn't happen very fast so I decided to mix general EV technology related videos with EV conversion stuff. But I find myself spending more time on EV technology videos than EV conversion stuff. Also because of my work I have to travel around the world and this creates breaks when I can't work on EV conversion stuff. This frustrated me more than anyone. I think I will have to make a decision to prioritize EV conversion stuff against other work. I am glad that you learned from my videos though 😁. Всего наилучшего Эд.

    Hello Latuta! Nice work. Your videos are very helpful. Ever got your hands on Nissan e power inverters and transmission? Can they be hooked up with Damien`s zombies or other vcu`s in the market? Please do if you could get your hands on one. It would be of great help. Thanks

      Thank you, I have not tried leaf inverter myself but I believe it works with Zombie and also with open inverter board

    I would think you could install an overrunning clutch where the engine used to be, allowing MG2 to contribute to traction power up to 40 mph, at which point it reaches it's rpm limit.

      I am thinking maybe get rid of MG2 all together

      @@LatutaEV Some people weld the spider gears so they spin together, but the windings are different so you must control them independently, making welding the gears kinda pointless. I would remove the rotor, but keep the stator and use the coils/windings for a very powerful boost converter

      @@murraymadness4674 People weld gears to join mg1 and MG2 together. I think the power to weight ratio of MG1 making it not worth it. I would remove all gears and mg1 just leave reduction gear to drive the wheels. And put one MG2 per wheel

      @@LatutaEV that was my plan for a hybrid motorhome, i have two highlander transaxles, was going to run one to each wheel, mg2. a lot of extra weight for a car though, for a motorhome no problem.

    Hello Sir, thank you for the videos, I am actively following your steps to recreate this. Please I have some questions, what's your planned pack voltage and what speeds do you expect? Also, how do you think a pack voltage of 100V would perform on the highway?

      I think 100V may not be enough for a motorway. I am looking at nominal pack voltage 360V and 400V max voltage

    Hello Latuta. Could you give more details on ordering from jlcpcb? There is too much settings/options there! How much can be saved that way rather than buying from Openinverter or evbmw shop?

    What is use for this? Make it ev motorcycle or car all electric? ,convert Prius gen 3 to all ev ?

      Sorry I am traveling abroad at the moment so I can't share my parameters. But if you check open inverter thread you can get them from there. I use the latest sign firmware
