Freediving is the ultimate sport! Beautiful scenery, mother nature, peaceful serenity and endless seafood.
The family and I head to the west coast for a day of diving and beach chilling. I jump in the water with @unchartedodyssey and some other divers and explore the depths of the Salish Sea. We had some epic conditions and laid eyes of many different sea creatures. Nudibranch, siphonophores, and sunstar to name a few. I also caught a Giant Pacific Octopus and brought home some sea urchin and California mussels...Yum. Epic day to say the least!

Not sure why, but it doesn't seem like people can post on my channel anymore. I can't even respond to comments. I didn't change any settings. I'm extremely annoyed... For the inevitable octopus sympathizers that will show up to comment. Love you all! ua-cam.com/video/qAezrKf34bA/v-deo.html
Keep making this content! I'm in the lower mainland. Always been interested in spearfishing and freediving and it's so cool watching you do all of this!
Thanks dude! Happy I can jump in for the ones who can't. No plans to stop anytime soon! Cheers
i like to pan sear my octo/squid in butter soy sauce and brown sugar
That sounds awesome. I don't catch em very often but I'll have to experiment further next time!
Just checked out your channel last night, and have been devouring the content : ) Are you thinking you'll come back to Deep Cove sometime? If you do please let me know Samson.
Thanks dude! Happy you like my content. I live on Vancouver Island now and don't dive around the mainland much. But if I do I'll reach out! I have a friend with a cabin up the Indian arm.
One of the most underrated channels. Awesome video
Agreed...the images are top
Thanks man! Quality over quantity. I have the best viewers haha. 🤟
Just found your channel and I'm really enjoying all the footage, especially being from North Van, thank you.
Also, just a fyi: your daughter was standing in front of the stove, watching the octopus being cooked in the pan - with the handle pointing towards her...
I bring this up as my little sister, was in a simular situation, only with a pot full of boiling water... she did grab the handle, (l'll spare the horrific details) and has never been the same since... that was 45 years ago.
Thanks! Happy you enjoy the videos. Makes it all worth the effort.
I appreciate the heads up! I'll be more diligent on that going forward. I teach safety for a living and I'm all about learning from other people's mistakes. Thanks man! 🙏
Woohoo you're back here full time??
Man that is incredible!
I just chased a cat, that sprays, through my yard, on full throttle, and came back to watch your video...and I felt worn out lol...but then again I'm just over 50, and you impress me with stamina...the current you fight, to get the videos we love...cheers Chris 🍻🇨🇦❤️
Pabst Blue Ribbon Cheers (only thing I touch)
Unfortunately it's the other way around. Working on the mainland full time and I'm only back for the weekend. Could be worse! I'm heading to Bermuda in August and have tickets booked. Remind me and I'll grab you that bottle!
Great video, beautiful BC Westcoast day, good vis and underwater activities. Hey are those Tonka trucks metal or aluminum? They were in the old days, not plastic like today lol...
Yep! Metal. It's pretty cool they've survived so long. Something tells me they have never seen salt water haha. We'll see how long they survive now...
Sick video as always Chris. When you’re cleaning an octopus, use a bunch of coarse salt when you’re scrubbing and skinning it. It helps get rid of the slime and also allows you to grip the octopus better
Awesome man thanks! I've seen people doing that before, I'd imagine that would be much easier. Won't need to add salt too! Haha
OMG I want to have dinner at your house. For being a coastal area we don’t have any decent seafood restaurants around here (Van Isle), but your videos show that there’s an incredible variety in our own backyard. Thanks.
That's a good point. I think a lot of our high quality seafood gets shipped overseas. We have a pretty endless supply if you work for it that's for sure! Spearfishing is fun but I find hand harvesting equally as rewarding. Thanks for the comment!
If you have a pressure cooker or insta pot, put the octopus in on high pressure for about 15-20 minutes. It comes out super tender!
That's a great idea! I just donated mine as it was just talking up space. Murphy's law haha.
Can't wait to get back to the island this summer...... just have to source a wet suit!
Awesome man. Keep an eye on Facebook marketplace!
Another banger! What great vis, sir! Thanks and so happy you're making these so frequently.
Thanks man! Hopefully I can stay consistent while on this Monday to Friday schedule. 🤞
Love the commentary on this one! keep it up!
Thanks man! I'm thinking about the nudibranch catch and cook now... 🤔 Haha
@@PNWSamson I feel like your joking, but with you I'm never sure !!!
@@AquaticMonkey haha well we did cook a starfish!
🤙🏻🦈
✌️🤟
Nice bro!
Thanks homie!
Thanks for the videos, love the catch and cooks! Octopus is one of my favorites but cant wait to try urchin!
Thanks dude! I'm not much of a cook but it's fun to film/edit the process. I'm happy to know people enjoy it. Urchin is good! In small doses or mixed in with other ingredients.
Another great one... your videos made me buy my gear. It was in my mind but these videos were the final "just do it" keep'em coming!
Awesome man! Happy to be that driving force. Any regrets?
@@PNWSamson
None. Only that when i lived in Ucluelet i should have done it then...
But i was pretty broke there. I wanted to tho.
What a nice beautiful day❤
Yeah man! It was a last second trip for me or I would have thrown you an invite. Sorry about that!
❤ great video as always!
Thanks my love!
