Io vagabondo,

La mia cover della famosissima canzone "Io vagabondo", portata al successo da "I nomadi" nel 1972.
Per eseguire al meglio questo pezzo ho creato un custom style per il mio arranger Yamaha PSR-sx 700: partendo da un midifile gratuito, ho utilizzato dapprima l'utility Yamaha "MIDI Song To Style" per generare una bozza dello style, che ho successivamente e notevolmente raffinato sfruttando lo Style Creator dello strumento.
Ho inoltre preparato un registration bank per la PSR e una SetList per la mia workstation Korg Nautilus, che richiama alcuni program interni Korg e alcuni suoni del modulo Dexibell VIVO SX8 (in particolare, il piano è Dexibell, gli archi sono prevalentemente Dexibell, l'organo è Korg).

A beneficio di qualche "benpensante" e di chi volesse approfondire gli aspetti più di dettaglio, descrivo brevemente di seguito alcune peculiarità del setup che uso in quasi tutte le mie registrazioni da almeno 6 mesi a questa parte:
1) iI passaggio da una registration all'altra sulla Yamaha viene effettuato usando un foot switch;
2) il cambio di registration produce anche automaticamente uno switch della combinazione di suoni corrente sulla Korg Nautilus, quando necessario: ciò avviene utilizzando un software, scritto da me in linguaggio Java, che traduce messaggi MIDI di tipo System Exclusive, che la PSR genera all'atto del cambio di registration, in messaggi di tipo Program Change, richiesti dalla Nautilus per cambiare lo slot corrente della SetList;
3) la registrazione dell'audio avviene in tempo reale su Ableton Live Lite;
4) il video viene contemporaneamente registrato e memorizzato direttamente su PC sfruttando il software IVCam, che consente di usare il cellulare come videocamera;
5) il montaggio video avviene con il software VSDC.

For the benefit of some "right-thinking" people and those who want to delve into more detailed aspects, I will briefly describe below some peculiarities of the setup that I use in all my recordings:
1) switching from one registration to another on the Yamaha is done using a foot switch;
2) the registration change automatically produces a switch of the current sound combination on the Korg Nautilus, when necessary: ​​this is done using software, written by me in Java language, which translates System Exclusive MIDI messages, which the PSR generates all the act of changing registration, in Program Change type messages, requested by Nautilus to change the current slot of the SetList;
3) audio recording occurs in real time on Ableton Live Lite;
4) the video is simultaneously recorded and stored directly on the PC using the IVCam software, which allows you to use your mobile phone as a video camera;
5) video editing takes place with the VSDC software.

Brilliant performance, may thanks for the detailed description, as I always am eager to know 'how do they do it'. Yhe Java ode you wrote, where is that executed? As it has to read all the midi controll data sent by your Yamaha and then forwarded to the Korg. I love how the love for music and the love for programming and finding technical solutions melt together. Impressed, much impressed...

Thank you very much: my Java code runs on my PC: the MIDI OUT port of sx700 is connected to the MIDI IN port of my Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 interface and the MIDI OUT port of Scarlett is connected to the Nautilus workstation. My software translates Yamaha System Exclusive MIDI messages into program changes and transmits those program changes to Nautilus. Thank you again for your interest.
