most of the new mesh router will have have wider range like 2500 to 3500 feet or multiple points to connect to the base like an extender. the extender shown on this video is a good extender for sure.. thanks for the tip.

A good mesh network is great for a larger area. A little more expensive too. I was looking for something that was relatively cheap to boost the signal an extra 30-40 feet with the garage door down, so this worked out nicely. If I had a larger property with a detached garage, then mesh would be a good option. Thanks for pointing that out. Hopefully someone reading this can investigate mesh topology if they’re needing better coverage.

I did a similar setup in my garage. You can get even better range if you are able to connect to the extender to your home network via ethernet cable. Then the device doesn't need to split the signal by 50% to carry it back to the network.

My provider (Bell in Canada) has their own branded Plume pods. My router is in the basement. I have a pod upstairs near my entrance connected to the router using an ethernet cable. I also have an other pod in my neighbour's house... this one connects wirelessly to the first pod. This gives me excellent signal whenever I park in my driveway or on the street.

You have WiFi cameras in your garage too. This should help the video quality too. For best performance, wired backhaul.

Thank you for the informative video. Could you please let me know the range of the wi-fi signal for this device. How far is that? 1000 ft, 1500 ft, more or less?

Not a ton of information on their website about distance. I’m sure it varies based on the environment and materials it passes through (glass windows vs concrete walls). What I did find was a claim of 1200 feet. I know their AX3000 router (not this extender) claims up to 2000 feet, so 1200 on an extender sounds about right.

Nope not me. I park in a city garage with no WiFi. Was think about a mobile access point but concerned that it may drain the 12v battery. (2020 m3)

Where do you usually go for WiFi to get your updates?

either use my phone as a hotspot or when visiting people who live in houses where I can get their signal.@@BecauseTesla
