It c could only be the power of Neo Geo. Somewhere in the original source tapes from that day so long ago is a shot of my wife and I staring, not in confusion, but in utter awe of those four bright buttons and two joysticks.
It's been 13 years but it still feels like yesterday. Having followed Nathan, Screw Attack, Game Trailers, et al. for years, this felt like an event when it came out. Talking Classic? Nah, Singing Classic. Seriously, Nathan is a champ to be able to make songs with Keith's voice.
Pretty sure it's just a green screen on the screen with the video footage added later (hence why it's perfectly continuous), so no power or cables are required for the machine.

During filming, the arcade screen is a solid colour. Then, after editing all the footage of Nathan/Keith together, they key that colour out, and take footage of a playthrough of Metal Slug and place it into green space in the completed video. This is especially easy to do because of the large black bordering/bezel of the screen. There are spots like at 1:29 where you see to the right of the screen, the bezel appears to glitch. If the screen had been playing throughout filming, then due to the different lighting in different locations and times of day, you would expect to see constantly changing shadows, reflections, and glare on the screen, but there's none of that, it stays the same brightness and clarity throughout, further confirming it all would have been done in post. Though you probably figured it out since your post 12 years ago, I'm sure.

Easier just to go shoot it on-location with the camera in the same spot. He usually just plops down his tripod, takes an exact number of heel-toe steps away from the camera, and then does his thing. Sander: I was wondering how they got the gameplay so nicely synchronized between cuts. Pretty good job; I must've watched this like ten times and I only now just noticed.

Saw this on Screw Attack so many years ago and was so blown away that I never knew what to make of it. Why was someone so obviously talented with video production and character acting making a video about the Neo Geo. Not that is shouldn't be made... just how did someone have the energy and talent to make it. This video was, and is, so ahead of it's time. Thank you Nathan!

This brings back memories of Gametrailers and Screwattack, and the sheer amount of new and refreshing content that was created back in the day, and posted on that webside.
For emulation machines both the neo geo x gold (kinda almost a real neo geo, but not cuz it just boots as roms) and the neo geo mini even fascinate me but those are also way out of price range. I copped snes minis and super retrocades for like $70 each, and wish i didnt sell my snes mini, as it can emulate neo geo even better than the retrocade, but dont be sad, 97/156 aint bad
