Originally released in September of 1986 for the Nintendo Famicom and ported as an arcade game for Nintendo's Vs. hardware, Super Xevious: Gamp No Nazo which translates into the Mystery of Gamp is the 3rd game in Namco's space shooter series.
While the game retains the same enhanced difficulty and aggressive enemies of Super Xevious, Gamp No Nazo steps it up a notch with the inclusion of elements related to puzzle solving because each of the 16 levels tasks the player with completing a specific objective to pass into the next stage.
As the name implies, the elements from the arcade Super Xevious return which includes increased difficulty and aggressive enemies which include enemies which reward the player with bonus points, but if they are shot, it will cruelly punish the player by resetting their score back to zero.

Alot of popular old arcade games had sequels that became obscure. Like Mappy has games like Hopping Mappy, Mappy-Land, and Mappy-Kids.
Funny thing is, as a kid I was more familiar with Mappy-Land then the original Mappy.

If Super Xevious Mystery of GAMP got a 16-bit arcade style remake with sound and music are in the same pitch like the other Namco arcade games in the 90s like Cosmo Gang the Video or Tank Force, that will be cool.

Arcade VS. games may be NES games in arcade games, but I find Arcade VS. games inferior because they are the same as NES games. To be honest, I like the enhanced versions better. On Namco Anthology 1 on the Japanese PS1, I like the enhanced version of Star Luster better because it has better 3D graphics and better sound and better music, and the navicomputer helps you tell if your enemies were on top of you or under you. The NES version of Star Luster was an old-fashioned console games in which enemies and objects move like 10 frames per second. If the NES version of Star Luster gets a 16-bit arcade style remake with better sound and better music with the same music pattern like from Cosmo Gang the Video or Tank Force, it will be very cool and interesting.

The VS. Arcade games are NOT the same as the NES games. Some can be wildly different.
For example, "Balloon Fight" on NES is just a one screen game. On the "VS." version all levels are two screens tall. It's the opposite for "Wrecking Crew," and in "VS." it's always a 2 player game either CPU or human. In the NES, it's just you against the level.
In "Super Mario VS." it has a mix of levels from "Super Mario Bros." and "Super Mario Bros. 2 Lost Levels."
The "VS." sports games make use of two monitors so each player would have their own screen. Or this care their own Switch. On NES, they shared the same screen.
Some games are more subtle, "VS." Pinball and Excitebike have more colors on screen than the NES was capable of.
Then you have games like "VS."Castlevania which is only slightly visually different the with the same level lay out. However, the timer has been cut in half! This forces the player to RUN thru levels as quickly as possibly! As the time can often kill you if you stop to explore.
Vs. Super Xevious whole visually similar to the NES version was also made harder. Enemies attack more often and power ups don't appear as much.
