Glad you had it weighed but you only weighed the gross weight not individual axle weights so won’t know if you exceed the individual axle weights. Even if you don’t exceed the gross weight in total this would still be a road traffic offence. Also by weighing the axles individually it will help you to plan the weight distribution for the rest of the build to prevent you falling foul of this law and having to change the build around, especially as the margins are tight. Hope this helps
I’ve really enjoyed your Buzz conversation episodes and glad I found your channel. Looking forward to the rest of your journey. Keep up the good work guys.
It's nice to see people actually getting their van weighed, a lot of the conversions we have seen must be overweight due to using wood worktops, cabinets and ceramic tiles etc! Have you allowed for your weight in the available playload and knocked it off? Looks very nice.
Interesting video indeed..i hope you include yourselves on the final weighing as i'm sure your aware that the people travelling in the vehicle are part of the payload..Good Luck with the build..✌🏻
2340kgs was my guess, and that roof really looks the dogs do da’s, I’m very impressed with the profile when closed. Looking forward to the next part of the build.
Hi guys, really enjoying your journey on UA-cam. Your new Buzz camper looks amazing and wondered if you had come up with a name yet? We too are products of the 70’s and wondered if you remember the drink “Cresta” that was around then? They had a lime flavour that was a personal favourite and was similar to the colour of your Buzz. It was advertised by a cool looking Polar Bear which also has a green connotation, so wondered if “Cresta” might be a consideration for the name? Wishing you all the best guys!
You just reminded me Steve. I need to re-weigh Viv-i-van now I've finished the rip out and rebuild. I'll be sure to sort that out this week :) Also, you raised a point Ive thought about and having a poptop on Viv. From experience with a dodgy converter who did Viv orignally-hence my rip out and rebuild, you've shown that with cutting a huge hole in your roof to have a pop top deffo needs a REALLY top firm to do it. The firm that's done your Bus deffo is one such company. I'm not sure I'll go the pop top road in Viv. I've got used to using her as is. I might just stop after the swivel seat.... though as van owners, are they ever finished lol . I honestly think your name idea suits the van Steve but with a twist... Buss-BEE for electric bus? Its looking great and your enthusiasm lit up the video. As ever, much respect- Kenny
Hi, The van looks great, nice yo see a company going to those lengths 😊. Turtle seems like an apt name due to the colour of the van and ocean. Good luck with the rest of the build. P and J 👍
name for the Buzz................ Smurf................... I grew up in this era... and the Smurf colours do match your Buzz... Don't you think.... and OMG seeing them cut the roof and everything, what am amazing thing wonderful..
Hi Guy's, As a child if the Sixties I watched a lot of great children's TV, One of many cartoons I watched was called Marine Boy, Not a bad name and matches the colour and adventures spirit. Love the channel, All the best Gary (Salford Lancashire)
Do they have a recommended wind limit for the pop top. I guess with such a steep pitch and front end over hang its going to be 10mph. I guess you could just drive it at 15mph with it up in a flat open space to see what happens. Worth knowing its limits as many of us have woken up in the middle of the night to howling wind and rain to have to get it down before it blows off. T5 dont have that high a pitch to get any major trouble unless it gets rough.
Just like an awning on our motorhome, we’d just put it down in windy conditions to be safe as we’ve seen some of the problems others have had in high winds.
Can I ask , are you worried about the life of the battery on the van, and the loss your take on the resale. Your investing a lot of money but the resale of electric vehicle are falling very quickly,
That’s because DVSA are set up to deal with Commercial vehicle operators operated under operators licences issued by the Traffic Commissioner not private vehicles. These are the responsibility of police traffic officers. DVSA will only get involved if it’s a joint operation with them. If you want to see motorcaravans and caravans checked and weighed try sitting in motorway services on the M5 during school holiday times
Gross weight is 3 tonne so you have 700 kg to ‘play with’ One thing I have forgot to comment on since the start of your ‘ID BUZZ journey’ is a general matter with EV’s Lithium and Cobalt are such very heavy metals. I heard last year it it could have been 2022 that a multi story car park in Nottingham had to be closed because of the weight of all the EV’s With your ID BUZZ will you be able to last 12 months with 1 set of tyres A family member bought Tesla back at end of 2019 and gets thru at least 2/3 sets of tyres in 1 year . He does city driving 90% of the time. 😋😋🇬🇧🇬🇧😀😀👍 👍 🏴🏴❤️❤️
Love watching you guys but have to say not liking the VW for me if you worked out what you spent in it and what you could have had with that money and yes it's your money but you could have done so much better with your money
The criteria was a small electric vehicle that would mainly be a 2nd car, but that we could also use as an occasional Campervan and would ideally get around 200 miles of range per charge and I’m afraid there currently isn’t any other vehicle available that can do this.
The criteria was a small electric van that can mainly be used as a second car, but also an occasional camper that can do at least 200 miles. The sprinter is way too big for a second car, and the electric vito just doesn’t have the range, so this is currently the only vehicle on the market to fit our criteria.
Glad you had it weighed but you only weighed the gross weight not individual axle weights so won’t know if you exceed the individual axle weights. Even if you don’t exceed the gross weight in total this would still be a road traffic offence.

Good point - I also couldn't work out if the 2300kg was with our without people sat in the front seats.
That’s an amazing fitment, it’s so sleek and only 40kg, well done folks, looking forward to the interior now. 👏👏👏
😍😍😍
I’ve really enjoyed your Buzz conversation episodes and glad I found your channel. Looking forward to the rest of your journey.
Keep up the good work guys.
Really interesting to see someone actually get the van weighed too at every stage, great idea too 👍🏻
Thank you x
Really to good to see the workmanship and care taken in fitting the roof.

I was also going to suggest Buzz LightYear 😊
Because of the lovely green colour, Minty springs to mind, he looked awesome xxx❤

Thank you 🤗
That is impressive 👌 I can't wait to see the rest of the conversion 👍
😍😍😍

Thanks Sue, yes the standard is to allow 75kg per person.
Interesting video indeed..i hope you include yourselves on the final weighing as i'm sure your aware that the people travelling in the vehicle are part of the payload..Good Luck with the build..✌🏻

Great video guys! I’m interested in doing the same however I can’t seem to find an instance company that will insure the van! Who do you use?

Thanks Kenny, and thank you for the kind words mate. Best of luck with Viv, would like to see some photos when she’s done.
Really love that color, great video!
Thank you x
Sticking with the bird theme, you could name it Orville 😀
Hi,
The van looks great, nice yo see a company going to those lengths 😊.
Turtle seems like an apt name due to the colour of the van and ocean.
Good luck with the rest of the build.
P and J 👍
Minty would be a good name looks like a mint too.

Looks really nice i like the buzz 👌
Thanks x
Buzz Lightyear has that same green!
Hi
Did you have any issues with insurance cover modifying the van which looks great have to say.
It's got to be Mini Rad ! Come on guys.
Hi Guy's, As a child if the Sixties I watched a lot of great children's TV, One of many cartoons I watched was called Marine Boy, Not a bad name and matches the colour and adventures spirit. Love the channel, All the best Gary (Salford Lancashire)
Do they still make the Doormobile pop tops ? I always thought they were cool looking on those old Bedford vans.
Great vlog guys think i would call it ducky as its similar to the duck egg paint, beautiful colour by the way 😊😊
Thanks! 😊

Great video as always but with the ID Buz I'm really unsure if two sleeping upstairs would really be at option..
Thanks. Yes it’s just 1m wide upstairs so only big enough for 1 adult or a couple of small kids
Can I just say I’m loving these Vids but can’t help wondering what the total build cost will be any ideas including the cost of the van ?
When we are done, we will share it all in one go!
Do you and linds count towards the payload …if so did you sit in on weighbridge in order you can work out what else can be added
Yes, they would be part of the maximum permissible total weight. as it is currently a van no allowance for passengers
Another great video has always Steve Lindsay Eddie Harry and George 👍
Re/ Name: how about Radsbee then you can have the bee as the buzz. Phil
Can I ask , are you worried about the life of the battery on the van, and the loss your take on the resale. Your investing a lot of money but the resale of electric vehicle are falling very quickly,
Ah. Let em crack on with it. They make some dosh. Muppets buy leccy crod. We get a so called free program to watch.
They get the savings back in not paying for gas.
Looks very cool

Been lorry driving for years and have never seen dvsa stop and weigh a camper or motorhome and have not seen anything on UA-cam filming being weighed

Interestingly, I’ve had my Buzz for 16 months and driven 22,000 miles and I’m on my first set of tyres 😇

Love watching you guys but have to say not liking the VW for me if you worked out what you spent in it and what you could have had with that money and yes it's your money but you could have done so much better with your money

Kermit
Great pop top but wasted on an electric vehicle, sorry but EV’s are not the way forward.
The first mistake occured when getting a VW instead of something better like a mercedes sprinter
The criteria was a small electric van that can mainly be used as a second car, but also an occasional camper that can do at least 200 miles. The sprinter is way too big for a second car, and the electric vito just doesn’t have the range, so this is currently the only vehicle on the market to fit our criteria.
👍💚 # ﹰBuzz ﹰLeap-year
Top job 👌
Thanks ✌
