I loved my AK most when it's metal went white in places. Loved it. Dark redish-brown furniture, worn metal, and a nicked up plumb pistol grip. Classic.
Thank You so much for all your help Sir. I've redone several stocks and bought almost all my surplus weapons with your advice always in mind. Thank you for your service to this great country and all the honest and practical advice you've provided all of us.
Eric, in response to the dirty floor, I feel that it adds to the aesthetics considering the grime that is present on the rifles. Keep up the good work.
I've been watching some of your videos and I have to say, you seem to really know what our talking about. I learned some very useful tips and tricks off you. Thanks man :D

I'll tell you what Ive bought all kind of surplus rifles, but the ones I've bought in the best condition in both metal and stock has to be those Swedish Mauser and' then the k31's..Ive been lucky. I love those old surplus rifles. Its always good to see another collectors showing their collection. excellent videos! keep up the good work! Have you ever done one on the Swedes?
Mauser are great rifles! I posess a M96 from 1916 whichs was built in sweden. It's still in very good shape and it's still really precise. Love to shoot it :D
Mosins are pretty much dried up around here (no big surprise). I do like the K31 and might look into getting one of those. The price isn't totally outrageous but it's getting there.
I recently underwent and finished a Mosin project. I handmade every part on my 91/30. All of the metal was finished in a high polished satin chrome. With the stock, I redid it in Cherrywood, with free hand engraving. I'm thinking about putting an AK scope mount on it. What are your thoughts?
i am a amateur collector of mil surp rifles i am very new to it but i am a history buff and i like really worn mil surps because to me they have more history
i really wish there was a way to find out where your rifle has been and who carried it in the past. my mosin was pretty beat up when i got it, but yours looks like its been to hell and back.
I am very into military surplus rifles and right now i own a mosin but lookin into buying a sks, what would be a fair price for one that is in fair good shape?
50 bucks, thats insane. Either way I am going to start looking for one then because I want the shorter version of the long M91/30 just to try it out. Just wanted to let you know I have bought 2 firearms this week, a Polish Tokarev Pistol in mint condition, and a Czech Vz-24 Mauser 8mm. The place where I bought the Mauser stated they were in really-good to excellent condition from AIM I paid the extra $10 for hand select. I have heard different (good)stories, whats your opinion on the Mauser.
There are many sites that supply cleaning rods for Mausers and Mosins as well as others. Take a walk through the internet and find them. Do a little research. Dave
How should i get rid of rust before it fucks up both my rifles??? please please please help me i dont have the money to go around buying a whole bunch of rifles so i kinda want these ones to look good.
i have a Mosin Nagant m44 carbine that has the date 1942 and was made at Izhevsk it has a stock repair and the serial numbers on the receiver bolt and but plate mach but the serial number on the floor plate does not mach plus the barrel bands that hold the top hand gardens are hard to take of it could be that the bands are stiff but i could be wrong what would the NRA grade for my rifle be.
The only Mosin Nagant Carbines in 1942 was the M38, latter replaced by the M44 in 1944. You have a reconditioned M38 dated 1942 with force matched parts probably put into long term storage during the 1950s in expectation of WW3.
Ok, so I met a guy today that wants to sell me a M44 Mosin-Nagant rifle for $130 which according to this video is in Very Good condition. Can anyone tell me if this is a good deal? Should I make him a lower offer and try to get it for less? He seamed to be a good guy that is down on his luck and needs the cash quick. Don't know if that matters to anyone else but I wouldn't want to take advantage of the guy. Just want to make a fair deal to complete my collection.
I would love to have a worn Nagant like that! Mine has minor wear and tear, but is hard to tell if issued. If anyone can tell me how to see if it was issued, please leave me a message
@Iraqveteran8888 believe it or not the pitting in a ww2 rifle actually increases the collective value of it,for instance my uncle bought a m44 for 10$ cause it had a huge cut in the upperforearm it was dated ww2 and presumed to be were a bayonet hit it he ended selling it for 10 grand. a little profit huh?
When i'm buying a surplus military rifle, i look for one in the best issued condition. I like to wonder what stories they would tell if they could talk. But i also like to go out and shoot them! Just my opinion.

Would the Standard Catalog of Military Firearms be a good reference for a new collector?
Great review...It's rekindled my love for surplus arms...
Mosins are pretty much dried up around here (no big surprise). I do like the K31 and might look into getting one of those. The price isn't totally outrageous but it's getting there.
my m48 had the bluing still inside the barrel, there were maximal 8 shots in total fired out of it to sight it in and make 3 130% overpressure shots

A "fair" ratings usually means "it looks like shit but it still works"
Thanks once again brother. Great info as always.
Best car makers in the world I say. Can't beat a toyota.

i'd love a beat up mosin nagant, it looks battle worn and would be beautiful on the wall...
@TheSouthernGentleman Try Numrich or Sarco. They usually have a huge assortment of Mauser parts for various models.

Got a good laugh out of "distressed nature." Great vid.
he definitely said "for all intensive purposes" lolllll at like 8:54
hopefully he's learned what the actual phrase is in the intervening 8 years
what's great is that it kind of makes sense considering how "intense" exploding gunpowder can be
thanks from canada

You have a rifle made in 1942 that was designed in 1944? You probably have a M38

i read that mosin nagants when they were first imported to the states NRA officials bout m91/30's for $3 a pop i was curious if that was true
Someday this will be our M-16/AR-15's.
I would love to have a worn Nagant like that! Mine has minor wear and tear, but is hard to tell if issued. If anyone can tell me how to see if it was issued, please leave me a message
Well if the owner of the guns is selling said guns, then they should expect potential purchasers to play with and handle said guns.
where do i go to put in my serial num to get a date
damn ur nagant was really jacked up looking
@Iraqveteran8888 Best comeback EVER!
I wonder what mil surp I should get next...
