The guitars are so fresh and worn in, crisply and persistently strumming on rhythm and accenting it perfectly on lead, with simple, fresh drum beats and tightly knit, bouncy basslines. The way they create so much with so little will never not astound me.
This is amazing. What a band! How could something from 2002 sound so immediately retro but also fresh at the same time? Unreal from the vocals to the composition. We need more from this band.
I always thought this was The Strokes quintessential song. Perfectly captures their sound and lyric style, and the song is about a feeling or relationship that millions can relate to. It's without a doubt the one Strokes song that has changed the most for me over the past 20 years.
anyone realise that this is one of their earlier concerts before "room on fire" came out. this means that the song obviously wasn't the "album version" that you are so used to hearing and thusly the words MAY in fact be different. either way, this is a gem, and all albums are great.
This is the best song from 'Room on Fire' in my opinion. I remember the joy I felt when this album came out years ago.. Not so much a feeling of joy upon hearing the new tracks from 'Angles'. The first 2 albums had a unique quality and sound which was very much The Strokes.
I wish I was born just a bit before my actual birth year to have experience this era of the strokes live. Something about these old clips has a lot of nostalgia for me and I wasn’t even 5 years old yet when this album debuted.
If only my parents fucked sooner, so I'd have acknowledged The Strokes and went to go see em there and then. Why did I have to be 1 at the time?! Fuck my life 😥
@@ΘεόδωροςΑρετάκης-η7π it's a pretty fantastic album. I'm pretty happy with it too and can't wait to see them in LA (whenever that date becomes finalized lol)
love the strokess!! their music is so rich with all those guitars great vocals and a killer drummer love them!! cnt wait for their new album and julians new solo album later this year!!
Alex White funny cause this song is about friends with benefits and then suddenly someone catches feelings. Maybe in this case you were the one who caught feelings. That's a no do in free term relationships man
Alex W I fell in love with a girl who would lay in bed and listen to this song with me.. we split awhile back.. this song forever makes me think the same. I feel your pain, Alex. Cheers brother.
3 of my favorite songs of the strokes are "You Talk Way Too Much" , "Between Love and Hate" and "Meet Me In The Bathroom" edit: I realize I missed naming many off the album that I think are equally as great, those being: automatic stop, the end has no end, I can’t win
If I ever watch videos from this performance it feels like I've stepped into a time machine. Everything about this band is so perfect, they deserve all the success and none of this bullshit from some fans.
I remember being in high school around the time Is This is It came out downloading live songs off of Napster and I would find songs that were later released on Room on Fire. @@soundcohert8595 From what I've heard, this was a preview. Room On Fire hadn't been released yet, and this concert was really just for Is This It, so it wasn't really a complete song yet. They just thew it in

Meet Me In The Bathroom The Strokes When they say promises They mean promises They'd say, "that's ok, Long as we can celebrate" You see, my uncle would say things would change when he's dead "Meet me in the bathroom" That's what she said I don't mind, it's true. Point is- as faulkner put it- PAST ISNT PAST--"is this it"lives forever, as do the strokes of 2002- so when people talk about theyre not good anymore they miss the point-albums/art RECORD, so no need to grouse about what WAS, bc u can always pop it on and again experience what IS---the strokes dont need to keep making more "is this it" songs-bc nothing could get better than the original, right people????
The guitars are so fresh and worn in, crisply and persistently strumming on rhythm and accenting it perfectly on lead, with simple, fresh drum beats and tightly knit, bouncy basslines. The way they create so much with so little will never not astound me.

Album came out Oct. 2003
they sang this 2002
The lyrics Julian is singing is the original Pre-release Lyrics
Except for the Compton part.... XD

fucking 13 years later but Julian sometimes changes the lyrics when he performs live
This is 2 Dollar Bill.
This performance was even before the is this it album came out.
@@TheAddictiveVideos nah, it was already out by then. released in sept. 2001 but this performance is from feb. 2002
also Between Love and Hate, bcs that song sounds so Is This It. and then theres When It Started that sounds so ROF
Man, the early 2000's was a weird time. I've never seen a stage that small for a band like them.
They specifically made this stage to look like Elvis' comeback gig. That's why the stage is that small.
Freaking love this stuff. It looks and sounds like something from the 70s.

be nice if they did more small shows like this, this lighting would go well with Comedown Machine songs. If only practiced like in FIOE days
Agreed
Same, same
this looks like a 90s film or 80s film, just the quality and the look of it. love the strokes
This happened the month before I was born. Now that I’m 16, I’m a huge fan of the strokes. Hope they do something in the next few years, if at all.
