The Irishman Cast On Their Favorite Scorsese Film | Netflix
/ netflix
Hit man Frank Sheeran looks back at the secrets he kept as a loyal member of the Bufalino crime family in this acclaimed film from Martin Scorsese.
Bobby Cannavale was born to be a character in a Scorsese movie.
I swear he looks just like Sonny from "A Bronx Tale"
Makes me crave for a steak.
I wish he was the "scorsese fav boy" from this century, not Dicaprio. Bobby reminds this old italians fellas from old school Scorsese.
He looks like sylvester stylone
Exact same thoughts here! Or a character in the Godfather series.
It's like the video editor was begging someone to say "mean streets"
For reallll 😂😂
Scorsese is a legend, but that movie was garbage
@@benjaminagosta bruh. No. I think you just dont get it. It's not supposed to be anything extravagant or crazy. People just love it for the mood
@@benjaminagosta woah woah woah my guy you got too much dip on your chip with that nonsense
What Up Doe Podcast whats The matter with you kid?? Whats the matta
Thanks Netflix for making The Irishman possible
Must give them credit for that. Must.
So sad they also basically assured it would be forgotten in less than a year by anyone that isn't already a big fan of scorcese.
So glad someone mentioned Silence. That movie rocked my world.
I love Ray Romano. So good to see him working again.
Go watch some of his recent movies. He's really good!!!
Philip Banks Have you checked out Paddleton yet? Loved his performance in it
I was so sad when Men of a Certain Age got cancelled that was honestly one of the most underrated show ever.
He never stopped working
Ice age memories came back lol
Bottom line is you can’t go wrong with a Scorsese film
kOoLppT191 I’ve seen every movie of his and boxcar Bertha is.......not....that...bad. But ya Scorsese is the best.
Yup. Even the minor ones are interesting.
Jean-Louis Gosselin you can’t be serious
Jean-Louis Gosselin have you ever enjoyed any role that Al Pacino played?
@@jakeplonk888 Pacino doesn't look or sound anything like Hoffa, but, as a character in the world portrayed in The Irishman, I was actually surprised how well he fit. If the film were a specifically a Hoffa biopic, he wouldn't have been the best choice, but for this particular film, it works surprisingly well.
Silence. Watch it people! Deserves way more recognition. It's something else.
Painfully underrated.
I saw it in theatres twice
Masterpiece but it's not for everyone
The age of innocence too
Correct , brother.
Mean Streets is so underrated. It’s a great movie with great performances from De Niro and Keitel
That's my favorite Scorsese movie as well.
Silence is the underrated one. Came out a few years ago, no one saw it and it's already forgotten. Probably in the top five of his films.
Otto Bergmann (Helenelundsskolan) he’s definitely done better but man that tracking shot of Charlie dancing in the bar and the last 15 minutes were amazing
was surprised no one said mean streets and with all those mean streets clips lol
Deniro was the best and almost only great thing about that one
First 15 minutes of Casino is literally Scorsese saying "hold my drink" to anyone saying "it can't get better than Goodfellas"
and then he outdoes himself on and on and on...
@TL DR I like Casino more actually, Joe Pescis character was so good in Casino
@Jamie Bell nah casino had way better narration. Sharon stone in Casino is a way better character than Lorraine Branco in goodfellas. Pencil is just as good and casino had a more epic scope
Bobby loving Silence is so endearing. Love that movie.
Goodfellas, The Departed, The Irishman, Casino, Taxi Driver Top 5
Shooter Sanoff u got my list exactly
King of Comedy, Wolf of Wall Street and Raging Bull are some of my favs
Spot on!!!
Shooter Sanoff I'd swap Irishman with Shutter Island, such an underrated film, so well made
akshay Viswambharan it shouldnt win best screenplay either, only oscar it MUST recieve is support actor as al pacino. amazingly played
He has never made a bad movie. Some are perfect icons of cinema and the high bar for others to reach:
-Raging Bull gives me chills
-Goodfellas was revolutionary
-Taxi Driver was perfection
Others like Age of Innocence: GONY; Mean Streets; King of Comedy; Casino; Last Temptation; Aviator and so on.....are great films by a master filmmaker.
Time will tell where the Irishman will sit among these great works. Seen it twice and it got even better and faster the second time. Maybe he made it too short! 🙏
Can’t believe he also has movies like Gangs of New York and Aviator under his belt as well
Shutter Island too.
Love those. Especially gangs of new york
@@reasonandevidence that movie was genius
Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Casino, The Departed, Gangs of New York, Wolf of Wall Street, The Irishman.... he's unstoppable
I don't know why no one ever talks about Hugo. It was an absolute masterpiece at least to me but i guess Its wasn't Marty's main Genre so it gets overshadowed when you compare his movies. Although my personal favorite is GoodFellas.
One of the best children's films for adults.
Henry G even when I saw it as a little kid I knew it was something genuinely special. Amazing how that movie is so mature yet it can connect with children too.
Anyone who really loves cinema and its history should immediatley fall in love with that film. I had seen a few scenes of films in the 1900s to 1920s, but did not know to appreciate them. Then we go on that journey with those two kinds who live under pretty poor circumstances (Hugo at least) and watch the same scenes, but then suddenly something changes: it is a completely different expierince watching it through the eyes of the two kids because the value of the scenes increased significantly. I had to smile when I saw a scene of The Great Train Robbery or a stunt by Buster Keaton. I am pretty sure this was a very personal film for Scoresese who grew up in a similar way (even if he had his parents) because there was nothing much he could do as a kid (could not do any sports because of asthma) except for the films and movie theaters. Today we may think that some films of the '40s were boring and not spectacular, but for a kid like Scoresese at that time it was a whole new world and probably the same feeling as for the two characters in Hugo.
I really liked Hugo, so different from his other masterpieces!
Same.It sparked my love for cinema
@@muhammadhilmiramadhan3556 Piece of shit? Yeah right lol. Hugo was Scorsese's love letter to cinema and it was brilliant, piece of shit how exactly? Lol, have you ever heard of George Melies' story??
After Hours, the forgotten one
Silence
Is that all there is?
Super-underrated. He's great at black comedy (as also evinced in (you guessed it) THE KING OF COMEDY).
@Michael Silve Remind me what that was, I've forgotten
@Michael Silve LOL. Would have been great if not a little too surreal.
First 30 minutes of the screenplay was stolen from deceased radio artist Joe Frank monologue "Lies". Look him up, his radio stories are bizarre as hell.
The Wolf of Wall Street for me.
It feels like a party just watching it.
Exactlyyy
Goodfellas feels like a gangster party
Its pacing is godly.
Appreciate that Bobby showed Silence some love. My favorite Scorsese film, and definitely one I wish got more attention
Silence is still on my mind i still havent gotten over its going to be a future classic
“Silence” is my favorite Scorsese piece. It’s his most powerful, perhaps his most personal is a philosophical way. To watch “Silence” is to watch it WITH Martin Scorsese.
Raging Bull: Most Moving
Goodfellas: Most Infinitely Watchable
Taxi Driver: Most Gritty
Mean Streets: Most Nostalgic
Hugo : Most Heartwarming
The Wolf of Wall Street : More Insane
The Irishman : More legends
Raging Bull.
I think After Hours might be his most underrated. It's also a Top 5 favorite Scorsese for me. Just a great dark comedy with a fantastic underrated ensemble cast.
My favorite of his is 1- Raging Bull, 2- Taxi Driver and 3- The Last Temptation Of Christ. People forget how a ton of people just lost their mind when that movie came out. Willem Defoe was masterful as Christ and Harvey Keitel awesome as always as Judas. Go watch that one if you never have.
I can’t believe no one mentioned Mean streets, I love that movie.
Yeah mean streets is awesome
"...cause this guy is a fng MOOK "!
David H “I’m a mook? What’s a mook?”
Glad to see Silence being mentionned
It would be nice if most of these were on Netflix
PINEO & LOEB you can get a VPN and find just about any movie on Netflix by switching regions. Netflix’s VPN detection is a bitch, but NordVPN works for me. Alternatively, you can go on a free movie website. A lot of them either suck or have been shut down, but xmovies8.tv is great and has been working for a while
Here, here! They have billions of dollars but they won't license more than six movies from before 2010 at any given time.
yup i just pirate most of scorce's films. I dont even have netflix and just downloaded Irishman on the internet in full HD
Taxi driver and the departed are
@@samsykes308 Mean Streets was too, last I checked. I stand by my statement though. Look up "Classic Movies" on there and it'll bring up a list of like 20 movies, some of which I know are in the public domain. Netflix has so much money and they dump it all in original productions (most of which are pretty mediocre). I'd just like to see a wider range of older films rather than so much crap from the very recent past.
Thanks for coming, Anna.
1. Goodfellas
2. Taxi Driver
3. Raging Bull
4. The Departed
5. Casino
The Irishman, The King of Comedy, and The Wolf of Wall Street are my favorite.
My Top 3:
Goodfellas 🚁
Casino 🎰
The Irishman ☘️
Joshua Lang I especially like the helicopter.
Chris Serpicø I’m just glad someone got it 😂😂
1. Goodfellas 🔫
2. The Irishman 🍀
3. Taxi Driver 🚕
4. The Wolf of Wallstreet 🐺
5. Casino 🃏🎲

Not mentioned in comments but also good - Bringing out the dead. Has that After Hours feel. Underrated.
Age of Innocence. The most ignored. Masterpiece in cinema history
That was a good one. I think people don't mention it as much because it's so not typical of a Scorsese movie.
Sad to see that Shutter Island was not mentioned
Probably because that is arguably one of his worst films.
It's a super entertaining film, but there's really not much to it.
At its best a Scorsese film is both entertaining and feels like a great meal. Don't know about you, but Taxi Driver is riveting, but also moves me and speaks of a truth about maleness that few films or books have captured. Raging Bull is not entertaining, but it's harrowing, devastating, which I value above mere thrills of Shutter Island. Goodfellas is entertaining, but it's also clever, smart, funny and just has that special something. Silence is perfect, but it's often a struggle to get through due to share intensity. Shutter Island is the equivalent of a good Nolan film. It's entertaining. I had a good time, enjoyed the twist (even though it's predictable, still great). It's one of the good Dicaprio performances (generally not a fan). It's the equivalent of a one of the good John Ford films or good John Huston Noirs; I like them, I enjoyed watching them, but I don't care about them. Taxi Driver and Silence are deeply personal experiences. Shutter Island is a great Noir. From Scorsese I expect more and want more. If I want merely entertaining, there's plenty of others.
A very underrated film.
It's a good movie. But Scorsese has made like half a dozen bona fide masterpieces, so it doesn't tend to get mentioned. I really like Shutter Island though, it's entertaining and fun to watch.
The Aviator is a masterpiece!
Agreed
Show me the blueprints.
Bernado Garay the way of the future
I hated that one.
The Irishman, The Departed, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Silence, and Taxi Driver are all master works in my opinion, couldn’t have been made better and their legacies will live on for years and years
Maybe Taxi Driver, or Raging Bull, or The Departed, or Goodfellas, or The Irishman, or Mean Streets, or Hugo, or The King of Comedy, or The Aviator, or After Hours, or Casino, or Wolf of Wall Street, or Gangs of New York, or Shutter Island, or Silence, or Bringing out the dead, or The Age if Innocence, or The Last Temptation of Christ ...
Or maybe it was one of his 5 documentaries that happen to be some of the greatest RockDocs ever made.
Ya - definitely one of those.
Omg the last waltz. Living in the material world. No direction home. Shine a light. He is the best ever at music documentaries also..... The man is a gift to all mankind
Silence is amazing
Mean streets is heavily underrated
Mean streets for sure..Deniro as johnny boy...classic
Pacino reminds me so much of Tony Montana especially the scene when he yelling at all them dudes when de nero walks out the room lol
The way he says "Johnny O'Rourke's kid" is totally Montana
I loved what he did with, 'Living In a Material World.' The best Beatles documentary out there.
Roger Ebert thought that Scorsese made the best movie of three decades in a row (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Goodfellas). I think The Departed is definitely in contention for best of the 00s. Hoping The Irishman is in the conversation for the 2010s!
Goodfellas is the best movie of all time.
I agree
The best of Scorsese yes. One of the greatest movie of all time
As is 12 Angry Men. Oops that's not one of Scorcese's.
Top 10 for me along with Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained, Inception, T2
Unpopular opinion, but I prefer Casino to Good Fellas.
Good Fellas is unparalleled as a realistic, detailed depiction of life in the Mafia, but in terms of cinematography, production design, editing, and just the overall technical aspects, Casino is the superior film.
Also, you get slightly more Joe Pesci is Casino, so that's a plus. 😃👍
Much respect for Plemons for the Last Waltz shout-out. Marty's narrative films are so renowned that sometimes his incredible documentary and concert film work gets a little overlooked.
Silence in my opinion is one of his best if not the best.
My top 7 because I can’t fit in 5 is:
1. Goodfellas
2. Taxi Driver
3. Wolf of Wall Street
4. The Departed
5. Raging Bull
6. Casino
7. The Irishman
Wolf of Wall Street is VERY underrated
He has so many classics is hard to even pick a top 10
No love for After Hours?
That's a goddamn shame.
That and Goodfellas are my favorites.
...with his segment in New York Stories.
My top 5 Scorsese films-
1)Taxi Driver
2)The Irishman
3)Goodfellas
4)The King of Comedy
5)Raging Bull
Honorable mentions-Casino and After Hours
Even though it isn’t as underrated as many of his other films, The King of Comedy is easily Scorsese’s masterpiece imo
For me Scorsese's top 5 movies would be
1. Taxi Driver
2. Casino
3. Goodfellas
4. Raging Bull
5. The Departed
My favorites are Hugo and Silence
Nice. Those are probably his most unique ones, but are definitely some of my favorites. People sometimes say that he only makes mob movies, but the man has pretty much done it all and excelled at all. The coolest thing is, is that Silence 100% feels like a Scorsese film, not just a bland imitation of Bergman or Dreyer or Bresson or what have you (directors associated with faith).
Taxi Driver is his masterpiece. After Hours is my personal favorite. Casino/ Goodfellas is great editing but Casino has the edge for me
The Departed is my favourite because of the incredible plot and acting, even though Marty’s best directing was definitely in Goodfellas
Wolf of Wall Street has to be up there. Absolutely brilliant, hilarious and the performances were extraordinary
He has made so many good films!
Gangs of New York, an underrated Scorsese movie.
Novice Historian that was a perfect movie!
It's a good movie, but compared to Taxi Driver, Goodfellas etc. I think it doesn't quite reach that level.
Facts
Underrated thanks to that dreadful Cameron Diaz performance. I love that movie but dammit cam !!! Act u bitch !
I became of daniel day lewis from that film!
This was good but The Age of Innocence, Silence and The King of Comedy takes the cake for me.
Silence is fantastic
Nobody mentioned "Gangs of New York".
But then, you can't blame them. Such a huge list of movies and each one in one way or the other better than the rest.
Ray Romano was the real MVP of the Irishman.
@Zachary Hoy To be honest? Why would you lie?
It's true! He's got this insanely likeable presence that contrasts with the heavyweights and helps the audience engage with the whole film
Considering the time, Mid-- 1970's, "TAXI DRIVER " was in Theaters Plus the FACT There had Never been a Major Movie, anywhere Near as HQ/Gritty. . TAXI DRIVER was the Masterpiece that "Catapulted" Martin Scorsese into Eternal Credibility. . *I remember people leaving the theater & we were All Simply Stunned. . It was Opening Night & Everyone was caught off guard with what Just "Hit us" as audience members. . Love ya, Mr.Scorsese!!
Ngl always majorly loved The Aviator, easily my favourite of the DiCaprio collabs.
My Top 5 would be:
1) Goodfellas
2) The Irishman
3) Casino
4) Gangs of New York
5) The Aviator
Bringing out the dead
My favorite Scorsese film
Jimmie Dimmick fuck yeah. So
Underrated
That's my second favorite (after Raging Bull)
And the most underrated!
This is some gourmet shit
The Wolf of Wall Street is mine . Literally changed my life. Crazy no one seems to mention it. Goodfellas , departed , taxi driver , raging bull, are alll masterpieces but when it comes to favorite . I can literally watch Wolf everyday of my life 🐺
It’s always going to have to be Taxi Driver for me
The Departed and Gangs of New York are my favorites. Goodfellas too.
I also agree with Bobby. Raging Bull is amazing. I didn't see it when it came out. But anytime it's on, I watch it. And good fellows. And gangs of New York. And the wolf of Wall Street.
Casino, GoodFellas, The Irishman, The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street, Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Anybody knows what music is it that plays in the background? It's freakin' brilliant!
Top 3 Scorsese Fav Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, After Hours
I agree with Jesse. King of comedy is grossly underrated. Robert de Niro was amazing in it.
I can't believe The Wolf of Wall Street didn't even get a mention
cause its not even in the top 5 of his best films?
Holy shit that's true. Also I love mean streets, but at least they put clips of that
@@maxborisenko8272 bro it's one of his beat films if you ask me idk
@@isaacster5027 im not calling it bad, perhaps if any other director would have shot it, it would have been one of his best no doubt. now, knowing that marty shot taxi driver, raging bull, the king of comedy, goodfellas, cape fear & departed, i'm okay if one doesn't put the wolf in the top5
It's great but it doesn't really give you those deep, lingering feelings that way a masterpiece like Raging Bull does.
The only correct answer is Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore!
No one said 'Wolf of Wall Street' 💔
Den Madenzo good
It's good but not great
@@cian2168 its my favorite scorsese film
Me and my friends watched that movie tripping on acid. We were pissing ourselves laughing
@@Appathetic_Substance_Abuse Jonah Hills best comedic performance in my opinion
Raging Bull is his masterpiece IMO. It has everything at top level. The direction, the acting, the script, the characters, the score, the editing and it's so moving. Nothing tops that one for me as far as Scorsese films. Taxi Driver and Goodfellas would round out the top 3.
Top 5 Scorsese films:
5) Taxi Driver
4) Raging Bull
3) The Departed
2) Goodfellas
1) The Irishman
It might change as time goes but at the moment it’s how I feel. The Irishman just took me over while watching the film. Rich in cinema.
The Wolf of Wall Street is my favorite in my opinion
Toss up of Goodfellas and Casino (and then Taxi Driver)... and now add The Departed and The Irishman to that list....lol too hard to say.. I'm going with Goodfellas first.. everything about it the way it was filmed, the story, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci, Bob De'Nero
DeNiro is so young in Taxi Driver. And look at what FatherTime has done to-him.
Father Time is gonna get us all...if we’re lucky.
Shutter Island being overlooked.
He came and took over the psychological horror genre with that film and then left.
My favorites are goodfellas and the wolf of wall street. Its difficult to choose between them
my fave is definitely after hours
I narrowed it down. My favorite Scorsese flicks:
Raging Bull, Goodfellas, taxi Driver, Cape Fear, The Departed, Mean Streets, The Last Waltz, Rolling Thunder Revue, The King of Comedy, Casino, The Aviator, The Irishman, Who's that knocking on my door, Alice doesn't live here anymore, GANGS OF NEW YORK, Shutter Island. Yeah, I think that's sufficient.
Ray Romanski no wolf of Wall Street?
The Departed is his best masterpiece from his latest catalogue, then Taxi Driver or Goodfellas from the older ones
My current top 5:
1. The Irishman
2. The Wolf of Wall Street
3. GoodFellas
4. Mean Streets
5. Taxi Driver
Everybody talks bout De Niro but why does Pesci always gets left in the background. He never gets the credit he deserves. If joe Pesci wasn’t in raging bull, goodfellas, casino or the Irishman, all the movies would’ve been just good movies. Pesci makes them great!
💯🤘
As the years go on, I think Wolf of Wall Street has entered my "Top 5 Martin Scorsese Films" list.
The Age of Innocence and Silence for me
Goodfellas was overall the best Scorsese movie however the peak of Bob and Pesci's acting was in Raging Bull w/o any questions asked. Can't imagine any other movie which captures all of Scorsese's signature styles in one film.
Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, The Departed, After Hours (a brilliant kafkian-noir tragicomic story) and The Last Temptation of Christ (it blew my mind when I was a teenager and helped me to define a personal idea of both historic and symbolic Christ).
Most underrated. Color of Money and After Hours.
Thanks again Netflix for delivering another amazing movie 🔥
Nobody mentioned After Hours! What a crack up film. But my favourite has to be Goodfellas.
Silence is my favorite
Whenever I think of Silence, Frodo comes to mind
Mean streets:
"whats a mook?"
I think his most underrated movie that deserves to be mentioned with any of the others is BRINGING OUT THE DEAD.
