I'll try to answer some of the questions here. I have had this same model since 2014. Mows like a tank on hillsides. I've cut foot high grass and overgrown weeds with it. Front wheel steering makes it much safer up, down, even going across slopes like this. This was after rolling a garden tractor when a bagger full of wet leaves swung on me and tipped me over.
This was the solution and I haven't looked back. Cut mow time in half too.
Now the bad. I had to replace the right hydro and just rebuilt the front steering this year. There's a video on youtube for that too. Bunch of washers from home depot. It does impact ground speed when the steering gets worn on the unique system these machines have. I have about 450 hrs on my machine.
If you can do your own repairs, it's a good machine compared to what's out there in today's world. Not a genuine pro model but its close and it's priced as such too. Recommend the fabricated deck over stamped. It's indestructible if you had rough terrain w roots and rocks. I've destroyed many mower decks in the 25 years I've mowed my property. This one is holding up fine.

I have a SZ60. My home is built on the break of a steep slope. I can mow across the slope with no control issues.
i have a maple tree at the steepest part and I can mow around it as easily as if it were on flat ground. I am sold on this drive/steering control type.

I have Cub Cadet ZForce 48" cut that was bought back in 2009. It's a semi-professional mower that has over 800 hours residential. I've only replaced the PTO Clutch, that's it.
I'm thinking of also getting a wider mower along with this one in case something goes wrong. I have a lot of lawn around the Farm house to mow. I honestly think Cub Cadet does not get the accolades they should get.

About to buy my 1st mower in the next few weeks. I heard going downhill front first is never a good idea. It seems like you were doing just fine. I have the same incline so this would do the trick
Can you mow side to side on that? I have a steep bank that looks close to that that i use my 30 yr old JD lawn tractor on. I have to set on the fender and it spins out all the time. It has a ditch at the bottom thats to deep to cross so i have to be on the hill the whole time.
