Hi my brother. I’m 47. Formerly sponsored. Two near fatal car accidents less than one month apart in 2007 ended my hopes of going pro. I can still skate but I don’t foresee any front side blunt slides or switch dolphin flips in my future but I will FOREVER keep pushing on. Mad props to you. Seeing you in action reminds me that age is just a number. Instant subscriber. 😊
@ You are absolutely correct about that. I am just grateful that I can still go to the park and get hyped, all whilst hyping others up and making new friends. Skateboarding is such a huge part of me and that will never go away. Thank you for reaching out and reminding me that it’s always been about having fun and being supportive. That really means a lot to me my friend.
Nick Matlin! I remember my sophomore year 99-00 one of my homies got the progression video that had your part in it. Our skate group met up and watched it together. We all loved your part. None of us had seen or even thought of a 5-0 shuv late flip out. Insane! Then your ender got us to stand up and cheer, you know the classic, "ooooooooohhhh!" 😂, the variel hell late flip. That part was played many times after school for months. It hyped us up like crazy back then. Times change, but its awesome to see a new Nick Matlin part. Thanks for all the inspiration 🙏🏻😎🍻
Dude, Progression vol. 1 and 3 were the first skate videos I ever bought at my local shop. I’m 37 now and it’s so rad to see you still skating. Those early days still stay with still stay with my family/friends and myself. Got us stoked to go out and skate, showed us cool new music like modest mouse in your part, etc… Thanks brotha ✊
Cheers man! I'll be 45 this year, been skating since I fell in love with it at 10 years old. I think I always will. I remember your appearances in 411, best years of skating was the 90's IMO. Take care and be safe out there.
Darn shredding brother , u get down like myself at 46. We r a rare breed of OG skaters still shredding because we love it and in r blood and great self care. Love the tech tricks
That no comply tail was crazy. Fast feet is definitely the rite description, this gives me hope to get one last part out while I gently pull into my forties this year lol.
Amazing! I won a video from a local contest when I was 11 and that video was called ‘volume’! You already know where I’m going with this haha good shit
Don't think I've ever seen a blunt into a tailslide. I usually don't like tricks into other tricks on ledges but you flick them out quick like a switchblade the way Daewon does. Really nice style. Excellent part, happy birthday
Damn man, blast from the past. I remember all your stuff in the Logic videos. Super memorable. Nobody else was snapping out of bluntslides and back smiths like that. This is a great video part!
Very technical and control in the tricks! I didn't know him but I loved the vibe of the video and the very complicated maneuvers. Hugs from Brazil! He is walking a lot for his age and may more years come. Happy Bday hahahah
I agree. Great skateboarding. Fantastic and creative. Some very cool and unique skate spots. I loved that broken slabs of concrete spot close to a highway or it's a road. Really fun to watch!
Totally remember you man, massive props to see you still ripping. Did you have clips in Logic? Cant remember the clips and parts I remember you from. Cheers anyways
If you started young and never stopped, and take care of your body as you get older, you'll be fine. I started young but stopped a few times and as a result it takes me a really long time to learn new tricks and some days I struggle with basics. I didn't get good when I had the chance. I'm 44 now and feel like I'm always going to be awful. I kind of want to quit to be honest.
That’s amazing at your age as well. There quite a few nbd as well on ledge dance combos. I like back 50:shuv crook. People can never take away from a part filmed at 40+. considering wear on body over yrs. I’m 42 and got really into PT after injuries from skating. Still ride I just do what I can do. Stem cells is a viable option to recover joints for many like me so I can do more. Check my fitness gear if you get a chance. Keep at it!
