Bonnie, you did a fabulous job with Olivia's cake! It's such a clear and easy-to-understand tutorial. I still think you're cute as a button too! Tell Joel I said that.
Bonnie she's gorgeous! I've had a cake decorating business for almost two years now, & have seen a tonne of Elsa cakes via other decorators. Yours is up there! Don't be so hard on yourself :) x
I just love how real you are bonnie .. You are not trying to impress anyone, You don't hide your disadvantages. You are so amazing! and the cake is beautiful, just like olivia. I just love you!
Oh Bonnie, you're absolutely precious! You sound like me - a perfectionist, & the problem is with a project like this, the more you look at it the more you see the teensiest things a blind man would be happy to see (as my mother says!) I honestly didn't even know you'd made that cake, I thought you'd had it specially made for Olivia's birthday! It looked absolutely amazing. They charge the absolute earth for a cake like that here in the UK, it's really helpful to know how easy it is to make if the opportunity arises! Thank you for a really lovely, precise, straight forward tutorial Bonnie. The end result was amazing & the love on Olivia's face was delightful when she saw it! How is Olivia's face doing now? And how is she feeling? I showed my mother the video (first time seeing you guys - she loved you all, & had the urge to wrap Boston in her arms & give him big grandma kisses - she thought he was an absolute darling!) & confirmed my eldest brother had the same reaction at Olivia's age to tree pollen. I thought I'd pass on that update from my previous comment. I hope she's feeling much better. xx
I love the layers. The way we used to do them is bake a cake on a pampered chef batter bowl and it's the perfect short cut to make her dress. But not icing in the layers. Love this!
I hope I look as beautiful as you when I'm expecting. Your family is beautiful and Olivia is so lucky to have a mommy that bakes her birthday cakes. Just adds in the love you that you don't get from buying a cake at the store!
Such a great video. I can't believe I found you on UA-cam. I'm from new Zealand and have the same due date as you and before I found your channel we settled in the name Bonnie for our daughter.
GREAT JOB!! I have made plenty of "doll" cakes - I bake my cakes in a large bowl for the skirt... Comes out great. I'm impressed with your tips on smoothing out the frosting - I seriously thought you had used fondant. Happy Birthday Olivia!
you did such a good job with your cake.. I have been making Barbie cakes forever and my mother made me barbie cakes too, but we have a pan that makes the dome.. I also use the dome to make teepee cakes for the boys.. I have made so many kinds of barbie cakes, I usually wrap my dolls body that will be in the cake with plasticwrap to keep them clean.. I am impressed with you making so many layers and trimming them like that..wow also I have never seen smoothing it out using a paper..how cool. love it...
great job Bonnie!I think i just might give this a try. My Olivia turns three in a couple weeks and she would love a cake like this. Thank you for this tutorial!
Wow Bonnie! When I watched your last vlog I thought you had the cake professionally made because it looked so good! I'm sure Olivia wont be forgetting this cake any time soon! Love your videos and best wishes for baby number 4:')
Thanks for this video. I think that it is way better than the professional bakers videos. You are just another mom and it feels like just a couple of friends hanging out and it feels way more doable than the others.
Love the cake! This will help me when I make a Barbie cake for my niece on her birthday. Also love how you were glistening with glitter at the end of the video :)
Great tutorial Bonnie! You did an awesome job!!? I could have sworn when u uploaded Olivia's birthday vlog that you bought that cake! Good job once again! And happy birthday Olivia! May God bless you with many more years of life!
This is brilliant! My mum did the same thing for my sixth birthday 18 and a half years ago! It wasn't Elsa of course. My one had a pink dress and lots of those silver ball decorations. I have a picture somewhere! 🎂
You did a great job on her cake. I am the least talented person when it comes to baking but even I might try this cake when my daughter is a little older.
Beautiful cake Bonnie!! My Grandma was a cake baker and she used paper towels to smooth the icing (instead of the paper). You may want to try that and see if you like it. She would place the paper towel on the cake and rub the paper towel with her hand, then lift the paper towel and place it on another section and rub it to smooth it. Repeat until all icing is smooth :) . Just a little tip :) . Xo Anna
Didn't know you made Olivia's cake!! You did an awesome job! And thank you so much for the tutorial! It makes me feel like I could do that for my little girl, and I wouldn't have even attempted before! )
Olivia's cake was amazing, from what I can see, you don't look like an amateur, your far too good. I was wondering if you and Joel would ever consider doing daily vlogs, I enjoy your vlogs the most. However I love all of your videos, your such an inspiration xx
It looks so cool! I was wondering if you would be able to do another baking video about your brownies with marshmallows on top they looked delicious!! I saw them in one of Ellie and Jared's vlogs.
This is so cute, it makes me want to make one! There's no little girls in my life though :( might just have to make one for myself! hahah. You did such a great job, I bet Olivia was thrilled! :)
I soooo giggles when you pushed the doll into the cake. So funny!!! Kinda synister and a little rude just had me it stitches. (I don't go out very often lol x )
To never have a problem with the cake coming out of the pan, buy parchment paper, just cut it to the size of the bottom of the pan, i add a little oil, but it's not nessisary, when it's done, let it cool, run a knife around the edge of your pan and then boop, out the pan the cake comes, no tearing. :) (You can bake cookies on parchment as well and you don't have to spatchula them off the pan, just slip the paper onto the counter add more parchment and continue cooking cookies while they cool on the counter. The roll of parchment can also be used to bake dinner in, little dinner steamers...yum!)
Frigging awesome! Now I feel I can make a cake like this for my daughter's 3rd birthday....but I can guarantee it won't look like yours lol Great job and thanks for sharing!! 🇨🇦
Little tip I learned from my mom so you don't have to worry about cleaning the platter at the end. Cut wax paper into four long strips and lay them underneath the cake before you start frosting. When you're done you can just gently slide them out and your platter is spotless.
1 good tip I know for getting frosting smooth is dipping your spatula in hot water then rub it with a paper towel to dry it then run the spatula over the cake gets its smooth every time
