- After learning of the death of Oliver Edwards I ventured out on to my local beat of the River Wharfe to fish spiders and to pay a person tribute to one of the greatest North Country anglers of his generation. The spiders worked a treat, but best of all his signature Edwards' Baetis Nymph worked supreme. #flyfishing #oliveredwards #troutfishing
Mr. Smith, that was a very respectful thing to do. Something that has almost gone extinct in today`s culture. I really enjoy your videos of fishing and fly tying. Thank you for making them because I know it is not easy.
Oliver Edwards was the best fly tyer ever, I have been tying flies for over sixty years and still watch his excellent videos.
Oliver Edwards is the reason I became interested in tying and fishing North Country Spiders. I've watched most if not all of his videos on UA-cam and found them relaxing and educational. Now I watch yours. I like your tying and presentation style. Thanks for keeping Mr. Edwards' legacy in mind. I'm sure you will continue it in your own way. Thank you!
Hello from New England USA- to say that Oliver has been a massive influence on my fly fishing and tying would be an understatement, hell my dog is even named "Oliver". I am truly saddened to hear of his passing.
Nothing but fishing an excellent tribute for an inspirational angler. RIP Oliver Edwards.
I was fortunate to have bought his book and all DVDs..he was and still is a great inspiration in my fishing world
A lovely tribute to a worthy man - I'm proud to be part of a global community that recognizes the people who made a significant contribution to the past and future of our sport.
A fine tribute to a wonderful Yorkshire angler and flytyer Robert.I had the privilege to attend his tying class for many years, and picking his fishing brain over a pint of Tetlys after, RIP Master
A fitting tribute from a north country angler to another north country angler, well done Robert , What flies were coming off as there were a lot of rising fish.
Beautiful tribute! I'm making mine for next Saturday.
A Fine Tribute. I watched Oliver for Years. Probably the most Learned Fly Fisherman, Fly Tier and Entomologists I ever saw.
So sorry to hear of the passing of Oliver Edwards. I discovered his essential skills videos when I was just getting started in 2015, not knowing at the time how influential he was in the fly fishing world. RIP
Great tribute to Mr. Edwards. I've learned a lot from you both. Hope to fish Yorkshire before I die. NC Spiders have become my love and work great on our West Virginia streams. One question though. I thought I would be met with eternal damnation swinging a NC Spider. You are the expert so please school me.
Oliver Edwards will be sorely missed in the flyfishing and fly tying community.
Spent many a day watching and learning on banks of the Ure back in the 1980’s from Oliver RIp.
My sincere condolences to you.
