Hello friend. I have been given the same chainsaw from my wife and I have found that the two bar nuts were excessively hot. I wondered if you have had the same problem ? Thanks in advance.
Yeah, but what if the little red mechanism isn't working right? I've been messing for three days trying to get that thing to work right and I cannot get this on here because that band for whatever reason will not expand.
not to necro but holy crap the same thing happened with my polesaw from ryobi except the adjustment pin was squished flat by some freak of failures? guessing when they installed it they crushed it flat all the way tightened. thanks for the vid glad i'm not the only one.
Sorry this info is missing, I used to have a blog post that went with this video. Try: www.partswarehouse.com/Ryobi-RY3714-37cc-Chain-Saws-s/344952.htm Parts 41,42, 43. I ordered off Amazon, Try typing in these part numbers.

I have the 16 and I think I may have the same problem but is it called "adjustment pin" or another name because I finding it hard to find this I don't know the part number
I have the same one, this was a great video, im going to check this at home. i think mine is also broken, will need to get that part too. any idea what the exact link is for this part number? THanks!
Should be part #308767001 Tension Adjustment: www.amazon.com/Homelite-Ryobi-Tension-Adjustment-308767001/dp/B000PM8KV4/ref=asc_df_B000PM8KV4/?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid={creative}&hvpos={adposition}&hvnetw=o&hvrand={random}&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl={devicemodel}&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583795264152177&psc=1 Good luck! Let me know how it goes and if it isn't fitting right the pin itself may be on backwards like mine was!
@@the_crushlife Hi. Are you sure that this is the part you used? says it is for a different model #. Mine (and I assume yours) is RY3714, but I know that this part may be interchangeable between models. Any insight before I buy would be great. Thanks!
I’m so annoyed . I think I over tightened mine and now I can’t tighten it or loosen it . So it’s stuck and I can’t even get the front plate off to change it 😢
Thanks Seth. I used mine a bunch last Monday, always a good day when there is a reason to get the 14" Ryobi out and make some sawdust. Nothing like the smell of 2-cycle exhaust and douglas fir!
Where can I get adjustable pin? For my 16" ry3716 ryobi

TY for the video, i have the same problem with my ryobi chain saw, and now i have the solution.

good content. good video. thank you.
No problem. I'm glad you were able to fix the problem.

41,42 and 43 here: www.partswarehouse.com/Ryobi-RY3716-37cc-Chain-Saws-s/344953.htm
Also the garbage cog nut pin thing (with the flat head end) is flimsy and is prone to wearing out.
Agree. I have been happy with this Ryobi for the price but would like to upgrade for this reason.

@@10nesche Based on the responses I've received, this is the correct part for the 14" Ryobi.

Front plate should come off easy when you remove the 2 nuts. Once you get it off you'll see the adjustment pin probably broke. Easy fix.
Helpful! Similar tightening issues on my RY3616. Thx
You bet.
Hey bro thank you exactly what i needed. Great video
Good to hear.
great video thanks for helping me fix my saw
You bet Bubba.
Perfect video 💯
This video was very helpful to me. Thank you very much.
Not a problem sir. I try to find the time to make videos for things I've learned when I can!
Where do you buy the adjustment pin
Amazon
Great video! I agree, the ryobi chainsaws are at a great price point.
Thanks Seth. I should do a video on all of my Ryobi tools. Glad the video was useful. Without the tension pin any saw is useless.

Huge help thanks
This is great to hear. Thank you.
Make sure and add lubrication and/or anti-seize on all parts while you have the saw apart!
