Historic St. Anne Retreat Center of the Diocese of Covington is located in Melbourne, Kentucky on 17 picturesque acres. The Retreat Center received notoriety for being used in the film Rain Man. The Diocese purchased the property in 2012 from the sisters of the Congregation of Divine Providence. Bordering the property is a large nature preserve managed by the Kentucky Nature Conservancy. There are numerous hiking trails through the property available for the retreatants.
The Retreat Center consists of two primary buildings. The Convent Center, the original building, was completed in 1919. On the ground floor is the kitchen, dining hall and Mary, Mother of Mercy Chapel. That Chapel was completed and consecrated by the Bishop in December of 2015. In addition, the beautiful 1st floor entry way leads into the Sacred Heart Chapel which connects the Convent Center to the Moye Center, our second building.
The Moye Center was completed in 1930 along with the Sacred Heart Chapel.

My Aunt was there at the Convent a few times. I think she might have been there around the time of the Rain Man filming.

Back in the early 50's my grandfather and I Fred Bley would deliver racks of donuts early in the am usually on a Sunday...in his big Hudson...with the racks built into the back...seemed like a long ride to me as a 4 or 5 year old..

I have an uncle that retired from there. My Mom and Dad also got a pump organ from there at one of there annual yard sales. One of the nuns said that the organ had been there since she was a little kid. It has a date of 1903 on it.

Ive worked there as a contractor many times over 30 years......the only things resembling a "labyrinth" is the strange arrangement of the graves in the graveyard in the back of the main building. Also there is a strange landscaping/plants located adjacent to the main driveway on the silver grove side about midway up.....visible from the driveway. Unknown to most is that there are two large tunnels that connect the main building to the boiler house in the rear of the main building and from the main building to the "nursing home". They are used for the boiler system piping and electrical service. Both are 100ft long maybe and you can comfortably stand and walk through them. I always thought they were cool and made it a point to show my helpers if it was their first time working there. It really IS a cool place but has to cost a fortune to operate and maintain.....so whatever fees are paid for the retreats, they are worth it if you value historical buildings/history.
