Back in the 1990s, I spent the night at the Time Museum Hotel in Rockford, IL. I knew about the museum. It as a rainy Saturday morning, and the desk clerk doubled as the curator and took me on a solo tour. I did not know about the Graves watch but loved studying complicated timepieces. He asked me if I wanted to see the Graves watch. He went into a back room (presumably to a safe) and brought out a box and 2 pairs of museum gloves. We put them on, and he opened the box to present the watch. I got to hold it for several minutes- heavy as hell for a pocket watch. I am so glad that I got to actually hold this piece of history and can safely say that it is the most-expensive object I will ever hold.
