- The aim of this video is to help students get an idea of how Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) in any water samples is analyzed when Direct method of estimation is adopted.
The content in the video consist of the following:
1. Brief introduction to Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD)
2. Different estimation method of BOD
3. Formula for calculation of BOD
4. Step by Step procedure for analysis of BOD in water Samples
5. Calculation of BOD using MS Excel

Thanks ... easy language, clear the concept best video to understand BOD in detail.i recommend everyone who wants to learn BOD analysis ..
Thank you so so much. I am grateful and feel blessed seeing your kind compliment. Thanks again and yes please continue supporting my work. Forever grateful 🙏 Thank again 🙏

Hi! I really liked your video. Could you please explain in a video the indirect method for BOD calculations? I have some questions. I've read the methods as 5210 Standard Method, but it´s kind of difficult to understand completly. I will really apreciate it.
I added 10 mL of seed in 1 L of dilution water.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it very much. However, now I'm am away from the lab, so I'm sorry not immediately but may be near future, I will keep this and do a video on it. Thank you once again
Excellent explanation. You are genius.
Wow, thanks! It means a lot. Thank you so so much Sir

Sir what is the formula for bod ? Is it only (Do initial -Do final ) or it is (Do initial - Do final / P ) ???
First one is direct method while second formula u provide is if you used the seed methods. Ok hope it's clear now. Thank you 😊
I think BOD= Do initial - Do final /P
@@phy_ke As I mentioned earlier..if u use direct method it's BOD= Do initial -Do final but if you use the other method then like the formula you mentioned. Ok . Hope it's clear now. Thank you 😊
Sir
Can we do the calc without the use of excel I mean direct normal calc slotting figures and formulas
Yes yes you can. I am showing the excel method if you have lots of samples to find out the DO Content. Otherwise, if it's one or two samples only, manually you can do the calculations ok. Thank you 😊
Sir can you explain the concept of incubating the 2nd sample and what difference it causes in sample?? Hoping for your reply
Hi ill humbly request you tonkindly yes tsee the concept of BOD. If you go through it, this is the reason son. Thank you 😊

hello sir can you elaborate why we are using 8 in the nominator in the calculation? what is value 8 for?
It is the part of the formula. I did not derived it it's originally in the part of the formula. Thank you 😊
How much water sample have you taken in BOD bottle ??
ua-cam.com/video/xeexrABuUNE/v-deo.html
As the BoD bottle volume
@@JustLikeASteam thanks
Thanks a lot for this detailed explanation
It means a lot. Thanks

Sir can u make a video on cod test itz request .....
sir is it important to use brown BOD bottles for incubation? can we use normal transparent bottle?
Preferably as per the protocol, yes it is important to use brown BOD bottle, because it more effective. However, if it just a trail or pilot test, you can use transparent bottles. Thank you
sir what about the steps that include making of dilution water and involving reagents like phosphate buffer , FeCl2 etc ?
is that not necessary?
and what is the difference between direct method and dilution method ?
thnku
This video is for direct method of BOD estimation. The dilution method is different method. Thank you
Sir, please do video on dilution method🙏
I think you midsed the DF(Dilution Factor) in it sir?
No it's not missed. In this method no DF is involved. DF method is different. TQ
And sir if u have a video on cod test plzz send me i need that video
What is explanation of using 8 during DO calculation
It's part of the formula. Apply you data into the formula, you will get your DO value. Thanks 😊
sir, can u elaborate to me why V2 = 100 mL?
100 ml is the volume of samples used for titration (see the part: pour from BOD bottle to measuring cylinder to conical flask) ok Thank you 😊
And if I want to check how clean the water from the household sewage treatment plant is out (slow sand filter) and I know that this water has little bacteria to incubate well for five days, how to inoculate it with bacteria so that it does not affect the measurement result?
Ps. You translate great - everything in turn - Now it is understandable to me :-)
Hello my friend. To what I understand from your comment, I belive you have to adopted the dilution method with seeding for your kind of study. However, I haven't done a video on that as yet. Thank you so much for writing. Appreciate it 🙏
@@JustLikeASteam Thank you for your help . Regards
@@JustLikeASteam Maybe I will persuade you to make such a film, you would best explain it to your audience, students :). and this topic will be interesting for many people! that would be a great sequel to the previous two movies!
@@tomaszmaciag6484 Woww, I'm feeling blessed. Thank you so much It means a lot. Yes, I will surely follow up in near future. It just might take sometimes. Thanks again for your kind and beautiful comments. Appreciate it 🙏
thanks
Appreciate it very much 🙏 Thank you 😊
