I have a questions, do you not own a screw gun of sorts and bits to remove hex bolts and other assorted screws? I realize you want to break them loose first but once that is done you could probable cut you disassembly time in 1/2 unless you must do things in a certain time which will give you more kudos ( $) for longer video time.
Thank you! I was debating buying replacement SLA batteries for the UPS units (rack mount BEST Axxium 2 kva / 120vac units) I have powering my amateur radio gear, home theater room equipment and one for my basement server room and all CCTV, fire alarm and home security equipment. There are 3 UPS units that were each originally approx $3,500@. They are excellent devices with extremely fast transfer speed (from utility power to generated power from internal batteries). BUT… the replacement battery cost for each UPS is actually more expensive than an entire DJI Power 1000. ($1025 per unit w/shipping) The UPS units are 16 + years old with batteries last changed 5 years ago. I’m guessing it will soon be time to repair/replace the UPS units due to component failure, etc. AND… If I had changed the batteries, I’d STILL have lead acid battery technology and have to swap batteries every 2-4 years. I was a bit concerned over transfer speed of the DJI units, but it turned out to be “just good enough”. LOL I bought 4 of the Power 1000’s, replacing the old UPS’s AND a spare for travel and Mavic-3 charging on the road. Thank you!
first thing i noticed as you was sweeping up the work space is you do what everyone should be doing ! cutting off them ds cheap chineesium plugs ! good man 👌
Have you got any of the sdc adaptor cables you could poke with a multimeter? I’m wondering if they’re just using resistors on the secondary pins to trigger the different modes that they support, thanks for going to the effort so we can learn!
Interesting but I did not notice any fuses should something nasty go wrong... A bit poor it has no WiFi or BT and firmware update only via Windows or MAC program and USB-C cable.
Me too. But I know why they don't. If you just had say an XT plug to connect them there would be nothing to balance the cells with. Example would be if you had one battery at 100% and the other at 0% as soon as you plugged them together the batteries naturally want to be at the same voltage and you could have hundreds of amps going through the connectors. Would also be a problem for charging if your external battery didn't have it's own built in BMS.
It's not just the plug though. The use output would be 110. Granted they might be using the same power supply inside and just changing a software setting. No idea how you'd change that.
i'd guess that is a buttonpatch for those carbonized rubber buttons you usually have on tv ect. remotes. maybe something like an 'enable' surface for activation of the BMS prior to installing the batterypack and get it ready. so it does not drain the battery when in stock.
Once you realize how many DJI competitors have ripped off and cloned everything they have created to make turn key dollars for themselves. You would keep your insides unmarked too.
It’s interesting how people changes the “J” pronunciation to “G”… it’s DGI OR DJI?? 🤣 Recently got my “DGI” Power 1000 (Just been a pest lol) from Amazon for just $480. Sweetest deal ever Have a great day!!
Depends on the country/state. Some places have a right to repair. So long as you are competent, fixing one part shouldn't affect the warranty of the rest of the item.
It's about the weight, and fyi - each drone is water coated with a fine spray coat, technically the drone will survive a fresh water crash, not sure about salt water.... Check some videos, where the drone is in water and is still keep filming. You can find them on youtube.
Best built portable power station I have every seen! Thanks for the teardown.
These are selling for $379 right now on the Black Friday Amazon sale, can't beat that!
That is an excellent price.
Just bought 2 of them at that price.

Thanks for the strip down to me it looks good enough to Buy
Thank you!

DJI are honoured you actually cleaned the bench for them😂

I've only got the 12V car adaptor but I will make a video on the output of all the pins.
19:04 Is that background sound a popcorn machine?
Sadly no. That is big drops of rain falling off the tree hitting the roof.
Talking to the battery case is a must
Did you happen to detect any “unusual” odour when you took it apart?
Great tear down!!!
What is the battery configuration? Battery size?
I think it’s a 16S 32140 LFP Battery.
Waiting for you reply.
See my comments above 👍
Another video showed the battery is 3.2V 20Ah or 64Wh each. Sixteen of them gives 1024 Wh. The only other battery marking was a "CCC"
Thank you Mr. David.

To update what? A good product don't need any update.
unless you're constantly updating a battery bank, i prefer it without unnecessary wifi or bt modules
Supercapacitor? Batteries?
Cool video. Were there any signs or labeling as to whom made this unit for DJI?
Didn't look like a rebranded unit to me.
nice work
I wish my Hisense tv was that well built…
16 battery 26650?
No 40135👌
i would love to see an external battery disconnect on these powerstations by default

16:01 highlight 😭😭
Random beepings would have me jumping too like that... :P
I have the reactions of a cat. An old cat, that's been dunted a few times. :)
Thanx David for the teardown ! Question : do you think the output Plug type can be replaced from US to UK ?
It's not just the plug though. The use output would be 110. Granted they might be using the same power supply inside and just changing a software setting. No idea how you'd change that.
Def Wifi or bluetooth in that rig, I see the antenna on the white silicone covered board bottom right.
i'd guess that is a buttonpatch for those carbonized rubber buttons you usually have on tv ect. remotes.
maybe something like an 'enable' surface for activation of the BMS prior to installing the batterypack and get it ready.
so it does not drain the battery when in stock.
Having now read the manual there is no mention of bluetooth or wifi. Maybe it's something for programming in the factory.
@@DavidMcLuckie Interesting, I could be wrong but it sure looks like a meandered inverted antenna on that PCB. Who knows with DJI LOL
Great analysis of the contents of the box .
This is unprofessional - there is no name for the battery

Lifepo4 cells 40135(20Ah)so16x 3.2v x 20Ah = 1024Wh👌

I guess your warranty is void.... EH?!
Depends on the country/state. Some places have a right to repair. So long as you are competent, fixing one part shouldn't affect the warranty of the rest of the item.
But they can't do that with their drones for when they crash in water lol.

You can find them on youtube.
249 grams is a hard target to get under.
Well built and lots of protection from vibration and damp. But probably a nightmare to troubleshoot and repair.
cut the tape of one battery cell
US told us it has national security issues 😂
