"Content drought" shouldn't affect you unless it's the only game you play, in which case, you probably deserve the pain. More does not equal better. Destiny 1s endgame content was superior enough to keep many of us still playing it and finding new personal goals to chase without feeling bored or burnt out. The sheer amount of people I hear doing the exact opposite with 2 is absurd.
@@xXJLNINJAXxSay that to the very people who complain about seasons. They refuse to play a different game, but D2 is different somehow. D1 gets a pass though
Ya kno I never thought of it that way but it’s kinda true. I had so many friends that played d1 with me, at least a group of 12 but now, everyone’s gone and it’s just me. And playing solo, without my OG group, just doesn’t feel the same at all. We used to run countless raids, crucible, strikes and never get bored, I miss those times so much
He is 100% correct. A lot of people say D2 is just a chore simulator, but it’s only a chore if you make it one. I play D2 pretty often and haven’t gotten burnt out in something like 4 years, I’ve gilded dredgen all 7 times that you can. I play the game for the story and the amazing combinations of weapons and abilities you can play as. If all you think is “power grind first week of season, run the raid til I get the exotic, never use something that’s not the perfect possible meta” then yeah it’s gonna feel like a chore. But I run whatever feels good in the moment, and it makes for a beautiful game. Just yesterday I ran a GM using a bow (not exotic) heartshadow and shotgun, with young ahamkara spine. Beautiful build, chucking grenades and knives like a crazy person, using a sword that doesn’t really work in pvp or pve meta, but feels so satisfying to use. 10/10 game can’t wait for Lightfall
it's not that i miss d1, it's that i miss all the content we don't have here in d2. Dreadnought, Venus, the old tower, a lot of the old guns (Imago Loop, Universal Remote, No Land Beyond, Pocket Infinity, Plan C, Super good advice, raze lighter, dark drinker, boltcaster, dregs promise, First Curse, Red Death etc etc etc) and the armors, and sparrow racing and all the cool maps we don't have anymore. I miss the feeling sure, but sometimes you gotta just reminisce Oh also bring back glasshouse to d2 that exotic was *awesome*
I however, miss 2 items from D1, and I miss them badly, like cry myself to sleep at night badly. Red Death, and Light beyond Nemesis, RIP my beloved friends.
As someone who still plays D1 daily and D2 every few days I’d say it’s really quaint to say everyone is seeing D1 through rose colored glasses without actually recognizing the obvious superiority in some ways for both games, there are so many ways D2 is better and for me there are so many more reasons I prefer D1. Both sides are valid but people act like there weren’t legitimate reasons some people love D1 more
It’s like betting on two horses; with one being old as shit, and the other being a fresh mature stallion. You know who is gonna win because one is old as hell. The only comparison that should be made is, where they good for their time. The time of their release and the time you put it. I would say yes to both and go back to those days any-day.
The only thing D1 had over D2 is art design, especially with weapons and armor. The fantasy medieval armor design and modern futurist weapon design was replaced with generic sci Fi weapons and armor with some ornaments being standouts (namely the season of the haunted ornaments.) Hell when was the last time we got a design like the reef weapons.
I always think about that last point. If this this version of D2 that's out right now in 2014 this shit would've been regarded as a great game by a lot more ppl. Some ppl still think it's like how it was in 2017
D1 rift is leagues above what we currently have. The last crucible meta sucked, but everyone knew it was the last year anyway so they didn’t bother to fix it. D1 raid armor sets especially with the year 3 ornaments are so much better than 99% of the current raid armor. And each raid had a different meta depending on the boss. Also no sunsetting in d1 so that’s pretty cool. D1 was a lot darker which I definitely like more. There’s a lot d2 has done right, but a lot it’s done wrong.
As someone that played from beginning of D1 all the way up to shadowkeep and took a break and came back recently... i can say that D2 fixes a lot that D1 missed the mark on. That being said, D1 was a game that rewarded you for the playing the game. Current D2 rewards you the more you open your wallet 🎉
I think if I started playing destiny today for the first time, I would be very overwhelmed. We take for granted the fact that we have been through these iterations and been there for the growth. I don’t think D1 was better than D2 it’s was just different then. But I loved the game then and I love it now.
Na I revisited d1 bc my girlfriend wanted to get into video games and she was interested in destiny. So we played d1 together before jumping into d2. D2 definitely has a lot more quality of life to it but d1 just felt better to play from start to finish.
imo destiny 1 was better then d2 in my experience i use to grind the game, destiny 2 is fun but after they took out leviathans raid i havent touched in years, i just got back into it but its not giving me the feeling to grind as back then destiny 1 pvp strikes story was just more of a feeling i like to enjoy i might get it back also the glowing shaders was appealing to look at
The one thing i feel D1 did better was factions and ranking up those factions, ranking up crucible amd vanguard used to be exciting trying to get that god roll LDR or Longbow but now just feels like free legendary shards
Destiny was the blueprint D2 is what has become of it. I mean some people would say that d2 kinda lost its way from the d1 blueprint but the game had to grow and even tho I agree that the development of d1 into d2 went on and off the track at times its grown beautifully and I hope there's many many years to come....
Honestly I liked the way d1 played more than the second, but maybe that’s because I’m on controller, but it definitely feels way different now especially sniping. I hear a lot of people say that d2 is boring and dry, which I can definitely notice because the story is a little weird now, but I’ve been playing for a week now and I haven’t played anything else 😭 it’s actually been really fun to see all the new things, but that might be because I took a 2 year break
I do miss getting 30 kills a game from shoulder charging. My friend and I made a bet that we wouldn't go to sleep until we lost a game or we got less than 20 kills from only shoulder charging. We stayed up all night lmao
What i miss is having grinded for gear and it feeling worth it. Now in an attempt to squeeze as much money out of people, shit resets, and 99% of the game is locked behind a pay wall. I also hate the fact that i payed $60 for D2 only for them to remove the campaign and release the game for free.
I think of this question as this: if D1 and all expansions were on PC, with updated graphics and features + Trials of course. Would you play it over D2?
It might honestly be just a result of how long I’ve been playing destiny as a whole but on D1 I could play it and never get bored but D2 I just don’t get feel as entertained
D1 wasn’t a sweat fest like destiny 2 is. Plus the story , weapons , armour all cosmetics where really good! Destiny 2 is just copy and paste syndrome. Destiny 1 felt like an adventure. To explain the worlds. Destiny 2 felt like a chore 👍🏻
What I miss abt destiny one was there were no seasons. I am sick and tired of having to deal with new season this and new season that every month. Before forsaken and during forsaken I could take a break during the school year and come back in the summer and still be caught up in the story, I would pay $30 and have access to all of the content they had added, and I could get my light up in a week. But now idk if it’s just me or if other ppl feel this way but the seasons just make me feel burnt out. It feels too much like a live service game if that makes sense. Sort of the structure of it is starting to feel more and more geared to making as much money as possible rather than making good shit. I mean if that is the case I understand cause that’s the whole point behind the whole entertainment industry which is one of the most lucrative industries out there. But it just doesn’t feel special anymore and doesn’t feel unique. It just feels like too much all at once, or not enough at times as well.
Ability spam was not even close to as horrendous in D1. And Special Ammo economy made for some beautiful moments. That part wasnt balanced but it was a rush to chase.
1 shot fusion nade was only meta to a certain tier, it’s like saying jotuun is meta now just because it dominates a lot of bad to average players. Yes fusion nades were really good, but the vast majority of good warlock players would use fire bolt grenades over fusions. And I’m not saying I’m a good player, I’m just calling things how I see em
Why I like D1 better: D1 felt aesthetically better, having the apocalyptic feeling of borderlands but also having a more sci fi tone which was better for me. Everything was new, d2 reissues exotics constantly when the player base would much rather have new and fresh exotics like d1. And even when they reissue beloved things from dq like raids, they always do the bear minimum and leave out weapons and cosmetic ornaments we loved. D1 had more crucible mode options while d2 limits what we can play per week. I understand the player base would be split up too thin but having mode customization would be nice. Factions actually mattered and gave amazing loot for your time. The package system was weird but the fact that most vendors in the tower literally do nothing is just weird. Destiny 1 had better orbit animations and hyperdrive animations. The earth is d2 is 90 percent aurora borealis with no actual detail, the sun was dimmed down for some reason, and the warp animations are so stale and uninteresting compared to d1s. D1 had better cosmetic options and. Didnt rely heavily on eververse like d2 does. Why is it so hard for them to veing back raid ornaments like before? This would give more incentive to get armor. Neglect for popular experiences. Sparrow racing was a fun mode that so many people ask for in d2 and they still havent brought it back. Along with this they removed faction rally and crimson days instead of trying to improve it. Theres more I can say but it would get too long for now, I'm just saying theres as lot they refuse to bring back and its annoying
Yeah because having to buy a pass every two months thats the price of a full game is just so great. And don't forget dedication of your entire life to the game just so you can be at the level to be able to do what you paid for.
It was a great game but then arc 3.0 and elimintion gone makes me feel about d2 how you feel about d1. The feeling knowing the good times are all gone... Forsaken and then 2021- mid 2022 was the best time of destiny.
Destiny 1 was better in its simplicity. Once max grimiore was acquired it was like I had beat the game and now I can have fun, chill and enjoy the game the way I like at a pace that is sustainable.
U don’t understand why ppl hate the d1 ending meta. I thought that was the best part cuz everything was broken. U were free to use whatever u wanted. Now they just try and balance things but there is always something that is op and u can’t complete without having it. At least when we talk endgame.
if D1 had a remake, tune it up with the FoV option and Fps, D1 will still be better. you comparing movement differences ad quality of the game. D1 imo has better content, rarely ever recycled cosmetics and was just a pure vibe. i was able to play trials with ease and not get so stressed where i just hate how broken the game is just like D2
There will be people that disagree with me, but here it is; with 7 years into Destiny 2…. I don’t miss Destiny 1. There were great times and feelings playing D1, but like he said, if D2 version of Destiny came out first, I would’ve lost my mind
Nostalgic wise and experiencing new updates was better in D1 but technically D2 has more content. D2 feels like a constant grind for god stats at this point
We miss the feeling of no skill based match making, random exotic drops instead of only quests, season pass, or lost sectors. We miss good supers, we miss so many things that made d1 better, just Bc the tech was limited at the time (30fps) doesn’t mean it’s worse, if d1 had a fov slider and 120 frames no one would touch d2.. It’s the same reason they won’t make any of the older cods backwards comparable, no one would play the new ones and they would lose millions of dollars...
I miss not having seasons and expansions that last around 2hrs. Destiny 2 definitely is better mechanically, graphically and has more story elements than the original game itself but.. honestly it feels like it has so much more of a pay to access content that should’ve been released in the dlc in the first place.
Destiny 1 didn't have seasons. It was an expansion where when you complete the content, you have months of drought. As opposed to Destiny 2 where you very rarely have more than a month of no content
The one thing I do miss is the armor design back then, but thankfully they're bringing some of them back

The hand cannons with 3 bullets and an 8 second reload
Ya kno I never thought of it that way but it’s kinda true. I had so many friends that played d1 with me, at least a group of 12 but now, everyone’s gone and it’s just me. And playing solo, without my OG group, just doesn’t feel the same at all. We used to run countless raids, crucible, strikes and never get bored, I miss those times so much
I never knew about destiny until 6 months ago, got tired of cod so I bought destiny 2 and fell in love. One of the best games I’ve ever played!
Damn were you living under a rock or something
As someone who did start Destiny (relatively) recently (Season of the Lost), I did fall in love with it and it's like my most played game.
I remember finally beating oryx in d1 on my playstation 3 i was like 6 and finaly getting every exotic this brings back so many memories
it's not that i miss d1, it's that i miss all the content we don't have here in d2.
I miss the feeling sure, but sometimes you gotta just reminisce
Oh also bring back glasshouse to d2 that exotic was *awesome*
The thing that was so much better was the leveling experience and new player experience. Trying to get people into d2 rn is absolutely awful
and it also was the community back then. everyone exited to learn more about the game. no one was toxic in pve lobbys
I however, miss 2 items from D1, and I miss them badly, like cry myself to sleep at night badly. Red Death, and Light beyond Nemesis, RIP my beloved friends.
I miss the grind to upgrade weapons in D1. In D2 everything is giving to you an not earned
Not true. You have to grind to get a perfect god roll they aren’t given
You most definitely don't miss it
That was such a trash system. Late game everyone just spammed motes of light so they didn’t have to deal with waiting around.
@@Averagedestiny2addict you can literally craft the rolls you want, you can enjoy it sure but the grind is not at all the same as D1
@@Soulsebb what about the normal legendaries? You don’t have perfect rng all the time
Personally, siva was the single best expansion destiny has ever dropped. Super refined, super thought out, super fun.
Nah, the taken king was that, but rise of iron was of similar quality.
To repeat one person nostalgia is one hell of a drug
D1 has still some of the best drip
I love jake watched him since d1 he's like q dad to me always giving great advice and talks ❤️✌️
D1 was a game of its era, but I’ll have to agree that D2 even with its flaws is a better game
Destiny 2 is better in every single way, EXCEPT pvp. D1’s pvp was actually fun before the last special ammo change.
Both sides are valid but people act like there weren’t legitimate reasons some people love D1 more
I started so many years ago with destiny 1 beta, now here I am
Remember having to go the the cryptarch to decrypt EVERY DROP? And your character not being able to climb a ledge so you die?
Oh and 20 weapon slots in the vault?
Been actively back on D1 for nearly two years now, very strange player base on xbox but there is always something fresh to do
Imo Bungie purposefully destroyed d1 meta to force d2. It was also the first major step towards double primary which was awful.
Some ppl still think it's like how it was in 2017
You knew he had no real argument when he had to bring up fps and fov.
So true, I'll never forget those good days
I think if I started playing destiny today for the first time, I would be very overwhelmed. We take for granted the fact that we have been through these iterations and been there for the growth. I don’t think D1 was better than D2 it’s was just different then. But I loved the game then and I love it now.
Na I revisited d1 bc my girlfriend wanted to get into video games and she was interested in destiny. So we played d1 together before jumping into d2. D2 definitely has a lot more quality of life to it but d1 just felt better to play from start to finish.
Everyone used what they wanted in D1 instead of having to choose meta or die
imo destiny 1 was better then d2 in my experience i use to grind the game, destiny 2 is fun but after they took out leviathans raid i havent touched in years, i just got back into it but its not giving me the feeling to grind as back then destiny 1 pvp strikes story was just more of a feeling i like to enjoy i might get it back also the glowing shaders was appealing to look at
The one thing i feel D1 did better was factions and ranking up those factions, ranking up crucible amd vanguard used to be exciting trying to get that god roll LDR or Longbow but now just feels like free legendary shards
Destiny was the blueprint D2 is what has become of it. I mean some people would say that d2 kinda lost its way from the d1 blueprint but the game had to grow and even tho I agree that the development of d1 into d2 went on and off the track at times its grown beautifully and I hope there's many many years to come....
"But the game had to grow" halo did that for like 4 fucking games before it went to shit, that's such a piss poor excuse.
D1s level design is much more cohesive and intriguing. But D2s systems and mechanics make it better overall from every other perspective.
Tbh d2 release was the only time since I got this game during house of wolves that myself and friends stopped playing the game until dlc
amen. I enjoyed d1 cus of my friends but as a game D2 IS lightyears BETTER
D2 when it first dropped was fire balanced and all
I do miss getting 30 kills a game from shoulder charging. My friend and I made a bet that we wouldn't go to sleep until we lost a game or we got less than 20 kills from only shoulder charging. We stayed up all night lmao
Agreed. People are jaded by the feeling of D1 not the quality for life of the game
Add reversed special ammo economy to it and everyone would play d1 again
Yes, I still play it more often than D2 despite some of the good things about D2
It might honestly be just a result of how long I’ve been playing destiny as a whole but on D1 I could play it and never get bored but D2 I just don’t get feel as entertained
Idk if it was the music but without Destiny I would have been out in the streets getting in trouble. Therapy for some.
I didn’t play D1 but red war was something eye opening for me it was like no other game and I got hooked, totally agree with his point
Jupp and Red War is gone now just like everything else in d2 lmao. D1 you can still play every piece of content.
Everytime I run into a one shot weapon, punch, and ability I break a little
destiny is way better than destiny 2, mainly because destiny 2 makes you pay for the good storyline
d1 mainly beats d2 in atmosphere and art direction, that games still a work of art to this day. d2 just lacks the same feeling d1 had
I honestly never want to go back and play d1, I really don’t want one of my favorite games to be ruined
He's right but sometimes I wish I can go back
Ability spam was not even close to as horrendous in D1. And Special Ammo economy made for some beautiful moments. That part wasnt balanced but it was a rush to chase.
You don’t remember the 1 shot fusion nade meta huh?
1 shot fusion nade was only meta to a certain tier, it’s like saying jotuun is meta now just because it dominates a lot of bad to average players. Yes fusion nades were really good, but the vast majority of good warlock players would use fire bolt grenades over fusions. And I’m not saying I’m a good player, I’m just calling things how I see em
Why I like D1 better:
D1 felt aesthetically better, having the apocalyptic feeling of borderlands but also having a more sci fi tone which was better for me.
Destiny 2 isn’t even finished yet we still have much more content, DLCs, updates, hell maybe even some more reworks in the future
U don’t understand why ppl hate the d1 ending meta. I thought that was the best part cuz everything was broken. U were free to use whatever u wanted. Now they just try and balance things but there is always something that is op and u can’t complete without having it. At least when we talk endgame.
I miss that sparrow racing armor (i miss hunters having a fat nyash)
destiny 1 artstyle wise, menu wise, class design wise, leveling and light level wise is superior (oh and story)
if D1 had a remake, tune it up with the FoV option and Fps, D1 will still be better. you comparing movement differences ad quality of the game. D1 imo has better content, rarely ever recycled cosmetics and was just a pure vibe. i was able to play trials with ease and not get so stressed where i just hate how broken the game is just like D2
I think I still prefer the more techy armour/weapon aesthetic bfrom D1.
There are only 3 things d1 did better
1: armor design
2: everything strikes (nightfall difficulty, loot, dialog)
3: SRL
I just want my full matching armor set to be taken
Destiny 2 once had that feeling imo. Until they went f2p, removed everything that originally made the game what it was and put paywalls on everything.
The audio and visuals are significantly better in D1 than D2, but D2 wins almost everything else
There will be people that disagree with me, but here it is; with 7 years into Destiny 2…. I don’t miss Destiny 1. There were great times and feelings playing D1, but like he said, if D2 version of Destiny came out first, I would’ve lost my mind
D2 is way better, but D1 has way better cosmetics and it had strike exclusive armor and weapons. It gave us a reason to replay strikes to get armor
Comparable or compatible? The old cods have been backwards compatible, what do you mean?
I miss not having seasons and expansions that last around 2hrs. Destiny 2 definitely is better mechanically, graphically and has more story elements than the original game itself but.. honestly it feels like it has so much more of a pay to access content that should’ve been released in the dlc in the first place.
Destiny 1 didn't have seasons. It was an expansion where when you complete the content, you have months of drought. As opposed to Destiny 2 where you very rarely have more than a month of no content
D1 was a better game by far. It only lack the tech that we have now.
It's not at all the feeling. That's usually a cop out response people use in lack of a valid point
Destiny 2 has better quality of life updates but a lot of people quit D2 in the first year or 2 because of the gameplay changes
the d1 armor will always look better imo
