- Happy New Year everyone! :-) First video of 2023, and it's a rendition of a song dear to me, composed by the late great Francis Bebey. Idiba means "morning" in Duala (or Douala), Bebey's native language from the Littoral region of Cameroon. One of the artists that greatly influenced my guitar playing growing up in Cameroon. I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you for sharing your recording I like it a lot. Are the lyrics in Lingala? Unfortunately, no digital translation succeeds in translating more than a few words. Is there a translation anywhere else?
Thank you for listening! 😊 The lyrics are in Duala (Douala) which is also a Bantu language like Lingala (Congo) but is from Cameroon. There is a summarized translation to French on a blog called: duala dot kazeo dot com (I wrote the link this way so UA-cam won't hide the comment as spam). You can type "Idiba paroles traduction Francis Bebey" in Google and should find it. 😊
