I just want to say that Mallory was also a villain in this story. Even before she saw Kate ruin Jeanette's life and let it happen. The worst kind of friend who pressures you into doing shady shit, when you say no she yells at you and bullies you and makes you look like a bad person for not wanting to do wrong/illegal things??? She did it with the pot, did it with the shoplifting and did it with the AV room prank. Worst kind of friend ever.
S2 was a completely different cast but the ending for S1 screwed my head up bad because i really thought Jeanette saw Katie after rewatching you realize that Mallory literally is shouted at by Jeanette saying “hey that’s my bike!” As Mallory responded “who cares” riding Jeanette’s back away. So literally the only reason Jeanette was perceived to be outside is because Katie saw her one time on Mallory’s bike that she temporarily borrowed😮 Mallory was the freak all along what a true twist completely different than S2. So literally both Jeanette and Katie technically told the truth in their hearts but Katie’s friend Mallory was the one all along
Tbh the ending would have been better if both girls were victims. The finale painted Jeanette as the villain, instead of Martin. I just feel like the show would have been more tragic and sad if they didn’t make her the villain.

Ok but like how the hell was jeanette suppose to see her at night, when the lights are off in the house, when she is hiding behind a curtain, feet away from the window? Even if she had seen someone, there is no way anyone could have known that was kate, unless they had x ray vision.
It was Mallory that saw her but Jeanette had actually been in the house and talked to Kate who told her she was the kidnapped girl and Jeanette left her there too so technically everyone is in the wrong ( I haven’t watched enough to understand kate yet cause I watched the 1st ep and finale but yeah everyone is a villain but Kate atm)
Mallory explains that there was no way of her knowing that it was Kate. However, she did put it all together once they rescued her. She never came forward though.
I think that I speak for all of us when I say that I NEVER would have seen the twist coming. I wonder if Jeanette's lies will eventually catch up with her in Season 2?!

I really wonder what season 2 will bring. Wonder if people will find out that Jeanette was lying the entire time and if we will find out why she smiled after she heard that Kate Wallis was locked in the basement. Her mother drove her out of the house and basically drove her to go to Martin’s house. Anyway, I think this show is amazing and I am excited to see what season 2 brings.

I was really disappointed with the ending too. I wanted neither of the girls to be the culprit. It didn't really seem like a twist to me because I was expecting it and hoping it wouldn't happen. For too long nerdy, shy and awkward type girls like Jeannette have been mocked on tv shows and movies. And pretty, popular girls like Kate have been demonized. By making both Kate and Jeannette sympathetic the show was saying young girls are individuals like everyone else and shouldn't be put into boxes, regardless of whether they are popular or unpopular. But then the show ruined that by making Jeannette the ultimate villain. Both Kate and Jeannette were victims of the media and society. They didn't need to hate each other and could actually have been friends if not for misunderstandings. But by making Jeannette the last minute bad guy they ruined an actually good message. Also Mallory sucks. She knew all along Jeannette was innocent and said nothing to Kate.
I don’t think that ending scene will have anything to do with season 2 if you think about it Kate said that over time she forgot about Annabelle etc maybe it’s the same with Janet how ever u spell her name she might of forgotten bits but the end of the day no one said did u ever hear her so she is right she never saw her. But what I was saying no body would know even to question her if she heard her and she won’t bring it up so I don’t see any reason as to why that scene would be mentioned again it was probably just to throw fans in a twist
Although i didnt like mallory, i was equally as weirded out by jeanettes obsession with Kate. It was obvious. And weird. That alone made me look at her character sideways, she lied too much too. Kate was annoying as hell with the whole "you saw me" bullshit. Like girl maybe they didnt realize it was you! How could they have? Your far away, in the most un suspected place, living freely. Girl bye . Also i didnt like how they didnt show how they figured out it was the principle.

This is Sara corbello I rewatch it Jeannette did not see Katie in Martin house on Christmas eve and it was Mallory now at the garden party Jeannette and Mallory switch bikes and Katie did see Jeannette at the garden party I think Katie and her timeliness mixed up I know Jeannette kept going in Martin house but she didn't see Katie I kinda of hope they pick it up where Jeannette was standing at the basement door we got six more days can't wait
This show had the potential to be really good except for a couple of hugh holes I have not heard anyone mention. What teenagers play hide and go seek, that's a child's game? First time sneaking into the house would have made more sense if they needed a place to get high or have sex. Second hole why did Jeanette keep breaking into Martin's house, for what reason? If she had a crush on him, was stalking him but neither was the case. What was her reason for keep entering his house? It makes no sense. And when Kate thought Jeanette saw her she was upstairs of her own free will. Why would she have wanted that reported? But I was surprised to see Jeanette knew she was locked in the basement and kept quiet. Who could do that?
Janet does all this because she's just a sociopath, even her mother notices it. From the beginning her actions are sick, unfortunately this girl is mental!
I don’t know who to blame in this story. Because Kate surely has mental issues as well. Instead her therapist listen to her that’s it. Or maybe the show didn’t show any of that part. Because she went willing to Martin’s house. It’s true a teenager cannot see what’s right or wrong. But honestly if this incident happens now I can say a teenager does know everything because if they are okay to change their gender at the very young age then what about other things 😅 (I know it’s not relevant to this story). However this was Kate who went willingly and didn’t want to go back. But as a responsible adult Marin’s responsibility was to call her parents. But also while Katie had and affair with Martin and lived happily when things doesn’t go as according to her way she wanted her old life back and I think that’s the main reason she accused Jannette knowing even though she saw her that was when she was living freely in the house when she had many opportunities to leave that house. Also Jannette also wrong when she heard Katie was in the basement asking for help she chose to ignore it. Which was a huge no no. And Mallory explained it to Katie that she saw her when she was making a call so she didn’t see the face of the person. The eye contact is only for Katie because inside the house is dark so no body from outside cannot see her. But outside had some lights so she could see who’s looking her way.. Katie not only destroy Jannette’s life but also Jannette parents’ life and many others. Just imaging if this actually happened? And everything happened after that was a result of this
I was also upset with the dang plot twist. I wanted Jeannette to be honest through and through but I guess we all have cracks in our hardware. That last scene got me thinking maybe Jeannette is mildly psychopathic and doesn't even realize it. "I didn't see her, your honor. I definitely heard her but I didn't see her." I also think Jeannette's mom should not have been a parent. You don't ever push your child to be pretty and popular. What a terrible thing to do - to try and change your child's social standing to better suit your lifestyle. Shallow parenting skills 10/10.

Nah I disagree, it the ending is what truly makes this story a thriller. It’s supposed to leave you in suspense and wishing things were different.
