The idea of Dante using an axe is cool by itself, I think that the one in PoC doesn't work because it doesn't feel or look heavy and powerful enough like the one in DmC reboot, but it's moveset is also still too basic to compensate, so the attacks end up looking kind of middling and generic.
How is DmC's take on the greataxe weapon concept via Arbiter middling or generic? How many times have you seen a character w/ such a weapon just throwing the Axe head towards their enemies in action games mind you even wayyy before the Nu Kratos era? DmC Dante's animations overall also conveys that he has never been formally trained in the Art of fighting and that he's mostly self taught on the battlefield meaning he's unorthodox as hell very much like the mainline Dante (for example both of them use fencing moves w/ a fucking greatsword of all things via Million/Trillion stabs and somehow find a way to make it work). DmC Dante also constantly tries to balance/reposition himself w/ each and every blow from the Arbiter as if he can just barely swing the damn thing so how is that generic when a far generic option would've been what you're seeing right now in PoC's Dante being able to handle such a heavy weapon w/ relatively ease. How many times have you seen greataxe characters being able to send in Tremor like shockwaves that can launch enemies in a straight line if it connects prior to DmC?? Arbiter is great at making distance against solo or multiple enemies as even the initial hit of Judgement string launches most enemies, setting up distant launches in combos, great at vertical movement as it's Aerial Drop which will take Dante and his enemy down much faster to the ground than Helmbreaker, Aerial Drop JCs are also excellent way to hit the brakes while not dealing any damage to the enemy in vanilla DmC, the Axe head throw has different uses depending if it's thrown in air (which can explode against the environment and if timed/spaced right then can send a thrown enemy right BACK at Dante) or on ground via Flush can also launch an already airborne enemy, One can also do a timed Aerial Flush JC to EnI to immediately halt the angled vertical movement from the throw then follow it up w/ whatever, 2 hits of Judgement string will send any enemy in a downed state if they're not launched from the 1st hit of it which allows for Buy-In setups and the list goes on while not even mentioning how good of a shield buster that overall weapon is. So please tell me how the fuck is any of that BASIC in any sense of the word? Just because you can throw around words such as Basic, Generic or Mid doesn't mean you know what you're talking about about neither the subtle complexity of the game/weapon/character nor the amount of work the animators have put in w/ clear thought and intent behind such. Even when it's the slowest weapon of DmC at least it's not as slow and tedious as the fucking bike whose only redeeming move is the wannabe aerial calibur which is locked behind a paywall. Not even DmC ever did shit like that but DMCV can get away w/ such.
@@ship05uyou have completely misread my comment, I was citing Arbiter in DmC as an example that WASN'T middling or generic, in comparison to the axe in peak of combat.
Kratos: Has anyone seen my axe? I threw it at the wrong portal.
the genshification of devil may cry
