1 of 2 : IMHO, to make him return (for a good ending with barry alive), at the start of the game, DON'T GO UP THE 2nd Floor Terrace. For this is where Barry would look "nervous", "paranoid" and always "scared". (the storyline would be: Barry submits to Wesker's intimidation by taking his family as hostages) so when he "drops the rope. He will not return no matter how long you wait. [to be continued]
You must wait in the grave after defeating the giant snake for the second time, after a while Barry will come to help you. If you do this correctly Barry won't die in the end of the game.
