    I'm still catching up (about halfway thru your Vlogmas). I'm so sorry to hear about your Christmas dress! Bummer! Good idea to keep it, thought - you never know if you'll feel up to fixing it later and it truly is a beautiful dress. I have to tell you, your Monroe looks great. It's chilly here in FL and it looks so cozy! That blouse is adorable! Your McCall's jumper - I did a review of it and noted a couple of things, but overall it's SO cute. And I'm really looking forward to seeing your jumpsuit; I always like that pattern on others but I'm still unsure about it on me. Here's to Fridays and catching up! I'm so glad to see you back!

    Sitting on the sofa for 27 days sounds amazing 😀. I think the dress seam opening is every sewists' nightmare, but at least you weren't out. I didn't realise the kielo pattern was drafted for a jumpsuit - I'd be the same about the back. Glad to see you back

    My first project of 2022 was to use a huge piece of black sweatshirting that has been in my stash FOREVER to make a two piece set! I made a Toaster Sweater 2 and a pair of Hudson Pants. I love them and they have been on constant rotation. I want the two piece set trend to stay forever. Especially in athleasure. Thanks for the video!

      @@WanderingBobbin Yes! I actually decided to make a "Make Nine" of nine fabrics I want to sew from my stash. I really liked one of your videos where you found a fabric in your stash then went on a hunt through your patterns to find a good match for it. It inspired me to try something like that for this Make Nine. When I've tried to do the regular pattern Make Nine, I have found it hard to stay motivated to sew some of the patterns. I think it's just too long to plan a year out for me. I like to plan in three projects at a time now. It seems to work better for me.

    Welcome back I've missed you. My goal for 2022 is as I think I commented before about becoming better at sewing knits. I bought myself a cover machine and I don't know why it intimidates me. It's supposed to be simpler than a serger and my serger is something I'm very comfortable with so I'm sure I can conquer this. Anyway I absolutely love the style arc patterns when I look at their pictures. I bought a style arc Issy top pattern back in 2016 and it came with an entire booklet of instructions and it is one of my favorite patterns. So in 2020 I bought the style arc Casey coat. That came with an index card of instructions. I managed to make the coat but I don't think the neckline and collar is quite right as I never was able to figure it out. When you talked about something happening when you got up to change out of your dress I thought you were going to say you sprained your ankle lol. How unfortunate that your seams came undone. That's almost as bad right? Anyway happy new year!

    • @WanderingBobbin
      @WanderingBobbin  3 роки тому +1

      Well…to be honest….I did feel some physical pain when I saw it! But luckily it was just the shock of it all 😂 They style arc Kennie has the index card instructions. I made up the muslin last weekend and the collar was so tricky. Took me ages to figure out. There is also no double notch in the sleeve….where do you start/end your easestitch stitches?? Who knows, I have to google it this week. Anyways, I bet you’ll love your cover stitch. I’ve never used one, but if you can use a serger, I bet it will be a piece of cake! You can do it! 💪

    Good learning tool for the slippery fabric. Yes, it should have been safe not being exposed, but not without some sort of finishing. There are quite a few seam finishes besides serging, too. fitting is part of the sewists journey, it’s part and parcel of the learning to sew thing. Sewing without fitting is meaningless activity. And learning fit is just that…learned. Now, I can eye a pattern and think, that won’t cover my arm, that looks tight, because I’ve sewn so many. And I have broad shoulders too, didn’t realize you did until you showed us the back. (I don’t think like that unless someone says something!) Even moving the fold edge 1/2” away (I’d probably do 1”) away from the fold itself will give you extra fabric for the back. I steer away from puffy sleeves, too, I look like a middle aged linebacker. Keep up the good work, it’s normal to grieve for your carefully crafted dress, you put a lot of effort into it, and it was beautiful. Like some beautiful things like butterflies, it didn’t have a long life and died. A skirt perhaps can be born, with extra reinforced seams…….❤️

    Nice plans! And yes, you did have quite an adventure/break! but sounds like you've got your enthusiasm back! Excited to see your corduroy project - the last thing I finished up in December was corduroy Morgan jeans, and in January some corduroy Lander pants (first ones!) with a Roscoe blouse and Nikko top on the side. The solution to your dress issue will come to you in the shower, in bed staring at the ceiling, or behind the wheel of your car.... 😉

      💯 some of my best ideas come to me in the shower and in the first few moments after I wake up! Those are all some great projects you've been doing! Do you like the Morgans or the Landers more?

    • @lynngates1662
      @lynngates1662 3 роки тому

      @@WanderingBobbin I've made the Morgans at least 4 times (one in corduroy) with another cut out; the Landers I've only done once, but there will be more. They are totally different; the Landers have fewer pieces and steps with a higher rise, and the Morgans are more traditional jeans. Both of them fit me well, but I will probably reach for the Morgan first just because I know it better. 😁 It's nice to know I have a higher-waist option now!

    Sorry about your dress. I had a similar issue with that type of fabric a few years ago and I haven't tried that fabric again which is fine since it's not really my thing. I'm more of a natural who loves wearing natural fibers mostly and I have no need for any type of dressier fabrics. I have not yet made a garment for the new year but I will shortly here. I did though make fringed pillow shams for my bed. Since we bought a house last year we have been focused more on the house and yard because I'm putting in my first garden this year and we are making the house our style inside and out. I am hoping to get to make my joggers this coming week.
