- I bought a preloved Louis Vuitton Bucket Bag from a Japanese seller on eBay. I knew that the interior needed work. I first attempted to repair it on my own but then ended up taking it to my local Louis Vuitton store. This is my experience with the whole process.

That is amazing! I got a bucket bag in the pm size from a japanese seller on Ebay and when I took the sticky mess out , i made the same error as you and my trim does not look very good on one side. I am going to take it to my LV store and get the same treatment you got. Enjoy your new treasure and thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your post, everyone was telling me to use my bag canvas of something else but I just kept it because its a great bag. I never knew I could get my bucket bag fixed and it only cost me $150.00. I love my bag and I prefer the older LV so thanks for all the tips. I got my favorite bag back!
Yay!! I think the older bags seem much thicker, don't you? I am so happy it worked out. I wear my bucket much more than my Neverfull.
Wow, thank you so much for sharing this experience with us! I really learned a lot and it's given me some ideas. I really love the look of old leather, but of course I'd like the interior to be nice and fresh; this would be a cool way to re-use an older piece (and not contribute to landfills) but still have something that's absolutely functional. Sometimes I see people push for using vintage bags, but they're so worn out it's hard to justify it versus getting something new that would last longer... This video really opened my eyes to what options are available and I'm definitely going to start researching a similar project for myself, thank you!

I am so happy you had a positive experience with LV repair. I went to Las Vegas was rapier this month for a wallet I brought off my bay in great condition. Just needed the sides sown and the glazing redone. They wanted a name of the person who purchased it originally. I was running around in circles. At the end she wouldn’t fix it and pointed out a pin size, what she considered a tear. Needed a magnifying to see it. I left so disappointed and was planning on buying a bag but after that experience I was drained. I spent months excited about the new experience. Left with a great wallet, not able to use it.
So strange. I would say it was a gift to you. I don't think they really need to know who bought it. If it has a problem with an item, then for the price we pay it should be fixed.

What a great video! Thank you!! I have been looking for a LV petit bucket from Japanese sellers but have not bought one yet. Your video was such a great help in answering a lot of my questions on the interior peeling. I have a funny feeling though that the LV store here in Chicago would charge a lot more. I wish I could find out what the charge would be before I buy one. I did buy 3 other bags from the same Japanese seller and all three were beautiful and a great buying experience.
Wow Julie...you are a fountain of really good information regarding the LV bags. You are so brave to order a bag from Japan and by following your information I am considering purchasing one myself. I’ve bought two fakes so far but all due to not investigating the item enough. I admire your confidence to try and repair the bags yourself and I was watching in amazement at your prior video when you cleaned the lining of your LV Neverfull successfully. I just ordered the same bucket bag from Japan last week... It would be great to know how you removed the stickiness before you went to lv? I would love to have it repaired by lv but I live in Reykjavik Iceland and I have to fly to visit a lv store. Im going to Budapest next month and Im going to buy me a bag there and I was wondering if I should ask the if they could repair it for me and then send it to my home.. do you know if thats possible? I have another bag (made 1986)I ordered from this same japaneese seller, it was in better shape though so I just polished the hardwear and conditioned the vachette and the canvas. Its such a beautiful piece.
Love your Video...Great information! Just want to share that I bought the same bag in New York and live in Los Angeles. It's not the humidity that cause the damage of the interior. It's the poor material that they use for that bag. What's the solution to clean the pouch? It has the same problem. Thank you
Great Video!... I always love your videos.. Thats very cheap to replace the leather..🎊🎉💝 This might be what I end up having to do with my Saumur 35.. I havnt gotten it back from handbag spa yet. But if they couldnt revive the leather im definitly taken it into lv.. Very helpful thanks again gorgeous💝😍😘 the bag is sooo Gorgeous!.. Try putting a little mink oil or apple conditoner to darken the leather if it bothers you at all. Direct sunlight can cause severe damage to the leather. Ive noticed latly on ebay some japan sellers are actually USING A SAW AND TRYING TO SAW THE WATER MARKS/dirt off the patina..😲😲😲 that is the dumbest idea ive ever heard of and truely does irreversible damage..

Thank you so much Juls for sharing this. You actually encouraged me to look at the preloved market (Japan) on ebay. I wouldn't have given it any thought at all as it can be daunting considering I am not an expert on authenticity of the handbags.
Definitely look in Japan. Make sure you find sellers with a high rating.

I bought a bucket bag pm from a Japanese seller on eBay that had minor peeling, but felt sticky inside. I brought it into LV today for a quote to replace the lining and was told it costs $300. I wonder if the cost of repair varies based on location. I would have assumed my bag would be the same price, if not cheaper to replace the lining.
The repair prices is really decent on LV!
So when they relined the inside they put the same stamp code date?

I had a bag repaired at the Beverly Hills location many years ago. They did it for free because the glue/glaze was oozing all over the front outside compartment of my Monogram Trocadero bag very soon after I purchased it. The work was horrible and the sales associates were dismissive. I had to contact the manager. I rarely use the bag because of the glaze oozing and has covered the inside of the front compartment. I cannot sell the bag. I had a horrible experience. Because of my experience, I am very wary about purchasing another Vuitton bag. Your bag looks beautiful!

Hi Juls, you are very lucky to pick up such lovely bags from Japan. Unfortunately here in the UK we have to pay massive import taxes from anything coming from Japan so not worth the hassle for us here. Also I doubt if LV would be as accommodating here. I have a beautiful Trocadero 27 in perfect condition except for the inner plastic pocket which has dried out and flaking, doubt LV here will fix a 20 year old bag with this problem, say it can't be fixed! Bond Street store more interested in selling than repairing!
Kaz, take it in and see what they say. It wouldn't hurt. I had no idea Japan had such huge import fees for you.
@@JulieSorbello Hi Juls, it not just Japan, it's any country outside of the European Union that we have to pay import taxes on. 30% added to the price we originally pay for it and then to make matters worse we have to pay more delivery fees on top, because it has to be rewrapped and sent by a UK courier. So not really much of a bargain for us. Thanks for getting back to me xxxx

I had a rivet put in by a shoemaker on a bag. I think LV doesn't like this.
But it doesn’t affect the authenticity of the bag ? I was planning to change my piping and lining outside of the boutique. It was much more cheaper but I’m afraid it will affect the authenticity of the bag

By the way Juls did LV ask for original receipt? Is it okay to tell them you bought the item on ebay? Cause when I had my WOC repaired at Chanel, they asked for original receipt and the authenticity card.
They did not ask really anything. I would not give any extra information. Just bring it in and tell them what you would like done and ask for a quote. I just dropped a ring off at Chanel and they did not ask for anything either. The stores I went to are in San Francisco.

Yes,. They fix all their products. The lady in my video had no fee for a new strap since it wasn't old. Other repairs cost. But they seem fair.

Jul’s Jewels I have the pm size and need to get it repaired.I also bought it off eBay from Japan and the interior needs to be redone. I am wondering why these bags do this. I have been on the hunt. I am wanting the repair however it appears when the interior is replaced they always do a new top lining. Mine already has a nice honey patina and if a new lining is put on it won’t match. Do you have any recommendations on making them match? I hear conditioning and placing in the sun helps however won’t that also darken other vachetta?

I have a video of me cleaning mine. They are sturdier than you think. Turn it completely inside out. Then tuck the straps in the inside(which is the canvas). Mix Dawn and warm water together. Use a toothbrush on the stain. Rinse. It will turn out great. I have spilled an entire water bottle in mine. Try to see the video I made on this.

I tried using dish soap I didn't have Dawn soap the bag is still stained.I went to Louis Vuitton yesterday and they said the only bag they can't replace the interior is the Neverful bag .I also have another Neverful bag that has Red interior and the Red is coming thru on the bottom of the bag.The bag is in good shape I have i.t a long time they said its from putting i.t on the ground and wear and tear.They can't repair i.t unfortunately .I can live with the Red on the bottom its small areas on the corners and I told my daughter no one sees the bottom of your bag. I watch all your videos you are doing a great job!

I actually love it. I ALMOST bought one in Paris. But I was saving my money for a Kelly. I think it is a great bag. More practical than a Birkin or Kelly. You can use it everyday.

I just purchased a bag that I know will have to be repaired. This is my 1st Louis Vuitton purchase. I’m a teacher so purchased a project bag. Here’s the link to my bag: trsy.co/23313517 My question is does canvas around the top of the bag( in the places where the leather has chipped away) look like it’s cracked? The closest Louis Vuitton store is almost 6 hours away. I would hate to travel that far for them to say that they will not repair it because of a cracked. I know that we won’t know until I take it in but I would really appreciate your educated guess. Thank you!
It is hard to tell. But it doesn't seem "cracked". That is what LV will not work on. You got a good price and a new top leather will make it look beautiful. Maybe call LV and see if you can mail in a repair.

Dear Jul, I am a new subscriber to your channel and found it super helpful. I have to tell you about the funny coincidence after I watched this video of yours. Because your rejuvenated bag has a unique look, I can kinda recognize it. I saw this video ua-cam.com/video/YESd49o5lyY/v-deo.html, where another UA-camr bought your bag, and then recently saw it on Fashionphile this month. I am amused by the fact the bag seems to pop up everywhere and thought you might find it funny as well.
You talk to much about the same thing. Your repeating your sentences. Most of the bags on eBay from Japan are fake or you see a photo and your receive something else. They use the same numbers from a bag for many bags. Google the number they say is the purse there selling and it's another bag. BE VERY CAREFUL.
