The Turkish language (Türkçe), which is also referred to as Istanbul Turkish, is the most widely spoken of the Turkic languages, with most of its native speakers living in Western Asia, and significant group of speakers in Germany, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Northern Cyprus, Greece, the Caucasus, and other parts of Europe and Central Asia. Ottoman Turkish, which was a variation of the Turkish spoken today, influenced many parts of Europe during the time that the Ottoman Empire expanded. When the modern Turkish republic was established, one of Atatürk's Reforms consisted of changing the Ottoman Turkish alphabet with a Latin alphabet. Today, Turkish is recognized as a minority language in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Iraq, Macedonia, and Romania. The Serbian language (српски / srpski) is the standardized variety of the Serbo-Croatian language mainly used by Serbs, and the official language of Serbia, and one of the three official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a minority language in Montenegro, as well as in Croatia, Macedonia, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. Serbian is the only European standard language uses both Cyrillic and Latin alphabets.
The Serbian Revolution in the early 19th century, which was a rebellion against the Ottomans as a struggle for independence led to the formation of an autonomous Serbia, marking the foundation of modern Serbia. Two centuries have passed since that time, and the Serbs were never influenced by the religion of Islam, having maintained Orthodox Christianity. However, the Serbian language and cuisine has been heavily influenced by Turkish. The Ottoman conquest led to linguistical contact between Turkish and South Slavic. Besides Turkish loanwords, also many Arabic and Persian words which had been adopted by the Turks, called "Orientalisms", entered the languages of the Balkans. Many of these words are no longer considered loan words. - Розваги

My grandfather used to say „ peşkir “ for “towel “ . In Serbia they say “ peşcir “ This word is replaced in Turkey with “havlu” and nobody uses peşkir anymore. Last year I was in Belgrade and heard the word pesçir in Hotel. It was sentimental for me since it reminded me my dead grandfather

For ex, serbians and ottomans, together fought against timur state invasion in ankara war, history tells serbians tried save and protect ottoman şah beyazid in battlefield while some turk origin tribes were passing timur 's side. but as I say I believe societies must determine their future in an absolute manner.

In the first periods of the Ottoman Empire, there was cooperation with the serbs, as it is now, Serbian princesses married the Ottoman sultans. There were Serbs in Ordu, but then this unity was broken, we do not know why
LOL, being a native speaker of Kazakh(Turkic family) and Russian(Slavic family) languages allowed me to understand A LOT of stuff from both Turkish and Serbian. I mean, it's such a bizarre feeling when you realize that you hear, basically, a foreign language but still somehow manage to decipher something or even have a basic conversation.
Greetings from Kazakhstan! Love your content, keep it up!
alperen kral well, yes, most of the words in this video have Turkish(or maybe even old Persian) origins. But, I was talking about languages in general, about the "bizarreness" when you read or hear a language from the same language family of your mother tongue. In my case, I know one Turkic language and one Slavic language which automatically opens "the Gates" to each language family. I'm not even talking about the amount of loan words from Old Persian, Arabic(in Kazakh language) and German and French(in Russian language) which once again can give you some advantages in understanding or learning one of these languages.
P.S. Thanks to Bahador for giving us an opportunity to talk to each other and share knowledge/experience.

hey when i hear those languages from Uzbekistan and Kazakstan me understanding languages of former yugoslavia which are a mix of slavic and turkish i can also understand a decent amount
Basicly Turkish was derived from Ural-Altay Language Family that is spoken in Middle Asia. But after Turks established their cities in Anatolia and Eurasia they have taken and given a lot of words there. So Turkish is like an octopus that has many limbs all over the world’s different languages.
There is not Ural - Altai or Altai language family. There is just Turkic Language Family. Turkic Language have not family relation with languages like Finnish or Mongolian. We have similarities like Persian or Arabic or French, but not relate with them too. Nothing more.

Ksenija Đurović Župan most of the girls in turkey looks like her. She's an average girl with a normal skin. Slavic are blonde ones. As a Turk I can easily say that
İsimsiz Kişi Slavic is a linguistic group. Not a phenotype . As you can see the south slav here is darker than the Turk .
@@zzzr6765 Slavic is postulated as being a linguistic term but the thing is, the nations that are labeled under this term actually also consist of 2 genetic groups that are found in all the people that are labeled as Slavic, in most cases you will find that Northern and Western Slavic speakers have more of R1A and a lower percentage of I2A and Southern Slavic speakers have the exact opposite, meaning a much lower makeup of R1A but a substantially higher percentage of I2A.
So in essence the term can also be used as a phenotype since the genetic information does have similarities with the only difference being the ratios of said markers.
Also, because that guy is "darker" does not mean that the skin complexion you see in this video is his natural color, I am a Serb and am extremely pale but in summer time, if I spend a lot of time outdoors I can become as dark as him even though it is not my natural color, would that then also mean that I am a Turk because of the probability that I can have a darker skin complexion? Of course not, that would be silly.
xilus My dads also south slav and naturally tan. Genetics don’t always equal phenotype . And not all Slavs have 12A . There’s even different phenotypes within the same ethnic background. R1a is also present in Greeks. all Slavs are phenotypically the same . And you’re proving my point east and west Slavs have different genetic % . South Slavs also have J2 and E . Lastly I didn’t say being tan makes you turk if anything I’m saying the exact opposite!

alperen kral True I have some Kurdish ancestry from father and I have very dark skin.
alperen kral I am not saying it is a shame,I am saying Kurds actually are the ones who have darker skin.
not only arabs and kurds have dark skin, look at HDP deputies most them have light skin. there are millions of turks have yellowish skin. denying this makes you have some sort of inferiority complexes.

I’ve been learning Turkish and Croatia(serbia)❤️
Is your name Islam?
Serbian and Croatian are two similar languages but not the same, remember that.
I love these videos and find them really interesting,
The only thing that bugs me is that lack of context for similarity between the languages : they just seem to go "oh these words are so similar" without mentioning that they actually are direct borrowings due to historical occupation and cultural/commercial exchange
Serbian words are more similar to Farsi then Turkish since Slavs from the Balkans are resualt of mixing between proto Slavs and Iranian tribes that live there such as Skynthians, Sarmatians etc...
I just can't believe there are not many hate comments addresed to either Turks or Serbs. Truly amazing

I speak Russian and due to that I understand many Serbian words, cuz they are both the Slavic languages. But so many similarities to Turkish, now I totally didn't expect that. Very interesting video. It was fun to watch ))
Thank you for watching. Serbian is definitely closer to Russia, but it does share a lot of words with Turkish:)
Bulgarians even got their name from Turkic rulers. All Bulgarian legendary heroes are Turkic - Asparukh, Dulo, Kubrat etc. and at the same time you say that you're Slavic. That's truly idiotic, you're trying to wear two hats. You better choose who you are.
That means Bulgarians are half Turkic tribe or even more than half. You have almost the same origin with Oguz tribe, which has founded Turkey.
It's loan words from Byzantine empire which also included Slavic people and Ottoman empire which occupied Serbia and Balkans. The languages itself don't resemble at all
yeah, i took russian in school and only later on i realized that russians use many turkish words
herkes kızımızı övüyor, yalnız cidden çok tatlı
Vocabulary is similar for obvious reasons yet you can see when it comes to sentences it is almost random chance to understand each other. The verbs are totally different and also the place of the verb is also different
in a sentence where she uses word 'sabah' and the hint word is plaža I actually recognized the word sabah because in Serbia people often use word 'sabajle' to point that someone got up very early or something happend early in the morning, for example 'budan sam od sabajle' which means I am awake from early in the morning, and I heard in turkish series people say sabah, sabah twice in similar context
We say it twice to emphasize the time. Let's say you are drinking alcohol in the morning and I think it's too early. I would say: "Sabah sabah içki mi içiyorsun?" (Are you drinking in the morning?) I could also say it just once but the meaning would be less powerful.
i think we serbs use the most turkish words than any other balkan country.
yeah
No, Bosnians definitely!

Turkish shares the same grammar with Korean and Japanese :) So If your sentences are same with Japanese, your language is Altaic
@gençlik bitmiş gg i think finno ugoric languages is also altaic languages.
No, These similarities due to influence of Ottoman Empire.
@@alieren_ every similarities like that can be cultural influence, and also the common root.
