- Southern Railway Merchant Navy, No.35028 Clan Line, raises the echoes as she accelerates towards Clapham Junction, on the Bournemouth Belle. This was exactly 50 years to the day since the last Steam hauled train ran.

35028 Clan Line is a VERY popular engine down here in the south, she always draws large crowds whenever she runs past. Have seen her on the mainline many times and always am impressed by her.
A superb vid of a large engine working hard at its train. Clan line has always been a fan favourite and continues to this day. Must admit it’s not when I think of engines working hard, that’s usually on a dark cold winters night, around Christmas time with a steam train bringing people home for Christmas
You can hear her pulling and building speed, absolutely beautiful, music, much like the merlin, British engineering at its best
This was a stunning video, I just l
This was a stunning video. I just love the increasing intensity of the thrumming three cylinder Bulleid shuffle, this is music to my ears.
Fabulous. Great to see Clan Line running the "Bournemouth Belle" once again. Remember fondly being lineside watching Bullied pacifics as a young train-spotter in the 60's. Was lucky enough to "cab" Clan Line at Eastleigh engineering works/sheds Open Day in about 1964/5. At the end of steam in 1968 I never thought I would see the likes of this again. Superb.
Brilliant piece of filming
Running really sweetly! Magic. :)
Lovely bit of film , thanks 👍
Great filming. I love the sound (and sight) of Clan Line.
The cantilever signal post to the left at 3.25 is an LBSCR overhead electric catenary support Had the down fast and slow pegs on it for a long time now !
Absolutely brilliant
Unforgettable.
Excellent video, nothing goes that fast through Clapham Junction until now 🙂👍
Loved this!!! What a sight and sound!!! I'll have to order the DVD now and watch the whole performance!
These films are better than most Cinema efforts , and you don't get overcharged for popcorn!
Wonderful sight and sound!
Beautiful.
Awsome video. Thanks.

Lovely shots of the old Bullied...brings back memories?

Very enjoyable...
Absolutely cracking video!! New subscriber here!
I wish I could take my grandsons on the footplate to experience that first hand. They would never forget it
Nice footage!
excellent!
Magnificent.
So Many People!!
Did you see the guy on the platform with his back to the train who never even looked up?
I have always thought that there was a 55mph speed limit on the LSWR main line until Surbiton as the signal are too close to each other, necessary because of the small time gap between trains especially during rush hours.
Very good ,if not excellent. Dave
Wow that was amazing... Will there be a dvd of the journey??
This is steam-tastic, although I'm not a fan of Southern Engines. However, I take exception to two of them: Taw Valley and Sir Lamiel who has a sharp bark a lot like that of Foxcote Manor. Sir Lamiel has a nicer-sounding whistle than Clan Line in my book.
Nice to see, but I reckon we came through Clapham Junction quicker on the way back to Waterloo.
Shades of 1967
Is it possible to get a full copy from both cameras on the engine, was starting to enjoy that and it stopped.
Hello.
Yes, a full copy will be available within the next few weeks time. Watch this space!
