It seems weird(to me), that ‘winter’ began EARLY this year, as we saw snowstorm in the mountains beginning of November. ‘Early’, altho now we’re talking MORE snow later in winter…..anyhoo, My wedding anniversary is Nov3rd; so its how I remember how early we get snow. When we tied the knot, Nov 3rd, 1984, we honeymooned at Timberline, & went snow skiing;although it was quite a blizzard…. i’ve been married 40 years now and snow skiing has only been open that early about once every 10 years including November 2024!!!!
We had some rain come through around 5pm, and it logged a trace on the rain gauge. But then the skies cleared and the temps dropped to 31° and now everything is ice! Yikes! 😬 🥶
I’m looking at my weather app and it says it’s 34 degrees outside and feels like it’s 39 degrees. How often does it feel warmer when it’s so cold outside? Kind of like the opposite of the wind chill factor scale.
I really think we should take all the effort we put into forecasting the ENSO cycle and figure out predicting Pacific PNA cycles (- or +), which actually have a bearing on our local weather for the PNW.......the ENSO cycle forecast mean little to nothing......

Thanks agin Rod for the informative forecast. I learn so much from your forecasts. I need to call you “professor Rod.”
As always, thanks for the detail. Love that wind map.
Rod, thank you for these independent updates!
I am so ready for spring. Has enough winter. 😢 Thank you Rod for continuing to keep us updated
Me too!
Rod you are a genius with your detail. Thank you so much.
Thanks Rod 😊
24-25f at my location the past 4 nights. Cascade foothills. Puddles stay frozen all day.
COLD!!
Just drizzle in Tacoma so far clouds seem to be thinning a little now
Thanks Rod!
35.2 here in Boring at 3:30PM That was my high. foggy drizzly no wind
Hey Rod, with these colder temps, could you share what the potential windchill will be for those days? 🥶💙
Will cover next time. I will say with highs around 40 or higher, winds gusty to 25 mph would produce a wind chill near 32 degrees.
Maybe Feb, will bring some ❄️
Maybe :)
I hope so! Hoping! Hoping!

Yes, all the resorts said one of the earlier openings in the last 20 plus years.

Thank you for the report.
The winter that never was.
So far.....
Why? It's rained a lot

I am surprised by the +5 degrees. It is common on hot summer day, that the heat index will be 92 and the air temperature 94.
There's got to be a way to force them to shut down HAARP for good...
👍
10 t0 14 days out have been like ping pong ball back and forth back and forth
Yes!
Clear skies ✨️are good news! Mars and jupiter, Venus and Saturn are all visible in the night sky this month! ❤ 😅

This looks like el-nino for sure.
❤😮 Yikes?! So it's going to be colder for places protected from the East Wind? ...that seems totally backwards and wrong! 😮❤😢 Grrr... unfair.
Keep in mind in terms of actual temp, calmer areas are typically colder. Moving air, holds the temperature from falling.
@rodhillweather Ah, right... it still seems a little backward to me, but it does explain that fog bank that's sitting on my house!
