Ghost/fae lover visiting song. "Your voice was still the same... stopped upon the fairy hill beneath the hawthorn tree...but woke to find...weary of this earth... haunted woman" The hawthorn is sacred to the fae (Aos Sí) and the scream of the "bean sí" also is a death harbinger. She and her lover were parted (by death?) while she was still young, but she has dreamt of the lover and feels they might be reunited through some mystical path, or simply when she dies. It's a modern romantic song that has a neo-pagan feel to it, but despite all the reverb on both this and the Niamh Parsons version, this one is by the songwriter and a little less "produced" than other versions. And it's a nice song, anyway! Briege Murphy is a musical goddess :-)
I am blessed to know this hidden masterpiece!

Such a hauntingly beautiful song. Niamh Parsons does a very good cover.
Please, somebody explain this song
