- Leon returns to school for the first time since his skull surgery. Odessa starts her 3rd baby formula after acid reflux concerns. Theo decides he wants more outside toys.

My daughter had the same problem with my breast milk and my pediatrician told me to add a teaspoon of rice cereal for every 2 oz of breast milk she did perfectly fine after that with my breast milk and a little bit of rice cereal! That where you can also do 1 oz of breast milk to 1oz of Formula with added rice it's worth trying! Love ya John, Jody, Leon, Theo and Precious Odessa!!
I have heard this is such a great solution but unfortunately its not recommended by our pediatrician

Could you pump and add a little rice cereal to the milk? Ask a lactation specialist where you delivered Odessa. WIC should have answers for you too. I never used formula with any of my babies. I can’t imagine how stressful this shortage is for moms. I feel for all new parents because of this extra stress.

I had very long hair when my son was Leon's age. I loved it when he brushed it n played with it. He try to style it. It was great.

Oh my goodness does she ever look like you!! Wher Odessas vomiting it almost sounds like acid reflux to me because my son was doing the same thing after a meal. I did add a little bit of rice cereal to his formula and that really helped him. Now they have formula with rice added!! Where was that when my son was a baby lol. I also gave him alcohol free gripe water before I fed him.

My grandson had this and it was awful. He had to be admitted to the hospital, and there my daughter was told to stop all milk in her diet. Within a few days our grandson quit vomiting. The doctor told them it is quite common nowadays for babies to have milk allergy from mother's breastmilk. The other comment about the rice cereal was exactly what we did with all our babies too. Beats trying to find formula hands down. Good luck guys!

I have never heard ‘dog’ being used to describe a baby.
Leon may have all those challenges however he is one smart boy.
It sounds like it could be an acid reflux issue! Keeping her upright for 30 minutes after eating and talking to the pediatrician about heartburn and interventions that could help might help you get back to breastfeeding!

Keep pumping and add the AR to it! Use your breastmilk as the "water" the formula calls for but only add half the amount of formula it calls for and it will thicken up good!! I had to do that for my preemie! And if they dont have the AR you can just add rice cereal to the breastmilk!

My sister inlaw had the same issue. She's been so worried about the formula issue. So she's still pumping and freezing her milk just incase. Maybe a few month down the road she can use the breastmilk.

We had to use Alimentum formula for our youngest bc of stomach and reflux issues. It's expensive af but was worth every penny for him not to be miserable like he was the first few days as a new born. I know you're sad you can't breast feed but it will all work out in the end.

Edit to add: Canada doesn't have a formula shortage. You can order formula from Amazon Canada and they'll ship it to your house.
No, Canada Amazon won't ship formula to the US.
Id definitely talk to your pediatrician about possibly acid reflex that could be why she was throwing up after breastfeeding !
Best of luck I heard about the shortages with certain brands in the USA, they recommend asking your pediatrician for a suitable replacement,. All the best.

The reason it is called "formula" is that you can make it from a formula or recipe. There were no premade formulas for sale when we were babies.our mom's made the recipes or formulas for our baby diet. What you make may not be ideal, but then again, it might be better than what you can buy in a store.

I had a problem with my oldest daughter she was lacrosse in tolerant. It broke my heart to have to stop breastfeeding. My youngest won't stay on. Odessa you are beautiful. Theo and Leon are so handsome. Leon can style my hair anytime. 😊❤

I seen on world news tonight, that they are saying that in approximately 3 weeks the formula shortage should improve. So hope so for of you that have little ones that need it.

My grandson was on nutramigen it was extremely expensive but his stomach was so so bad and gassy we tried all the formula n that worked like magic....it's l.cows milk I Believe but he's not lactose I thought he was gonna be as he got older he's fine with regular milk now... So good luck hoping Odessa found her formula that agrees with her belly ❤️😘💗🙏

My newborn did this exact thing!!! It had nothing to do with him not tolerating my milk!!!!! It was only that my let down was too fast and he I over ate and too fast! We worked it out and once he grew a little more he got used to my fast let down! Before you lose production, try feeding her the breast milk from a bottle and see how much better she tolerates it!
Once I was discharged from the hospital I started pumping and bottle feeding but still the same issue
My youngest had the same issue when she was a newborn come to find out she had acid reflux so she went on enfamil AR and did amazingly well with it I to felt discouraged I couldn't breastfeed but I knew fed is best

I know where you can get your baby formula go to Mexico they have a whole bunch at Costco Walmart and all the other stores in Mexico
I'm sorry about the breastfeeding thing . I feel ya too my 1st I had milk for months an months . I could feed a village.. an my second I got clogged duct an had to stop feeding him an by formula... an they didn't make formula like they do know it was milk based or soy. He was allergic to milk. An so was I as a baby... an Theo waiting for daddy an Leon to come home was so cute.... an talk about cute an adorable Leon playing with just mama's hair is so funny an sweet... heeheehee

He has several diagnosis but his walking difficulties are due to cerebral palsy

My youngest son and his fiance has a baby girl. She is 5 months. They had to order baby formula at Sam's store. I thought this would help you. This is my first grandchild.
My son is now 38 and he projectile vomiting from the beginning and we added cereal to his bottles and he did great .

I had to put my son on soybean formula because he kept throwing up..then I had to put him on powdered milk when he got older.

If you can still get breast milk it might be awesome to donate it or help another mom out. Just a thought. Totally up to you. You might could mix breast milk with rice cereal. I figure you guys will be a van family soon. Especially when his wheelchair gets bigger. Because it will get bigger! My fridge get colder on the top shelf. I love Leon giggles! Leon is a mommy's boy. I can tell.
We use to have a van and I really loved it but it broke down and we were forced to get a different vehicle, I miss my Chrysler! As far as donating milk Im taking blood pressure medicine from having preeclampsia so I don't think I would be allowed to donate.

Right now you should not give up. I would say removing things from your diet first and talking to a dr about reflux.

Yes he just has never drank enough liquids so he still uses his tube for that

A FED baby is best. Little Odessa is having problems with mom’s breast milk for whatever reason. If she’s vomiting all the breast milk she’s taking in, she’s not getting the nutrients her little body needs. Praying this works, Jody, and that the shortage reversed itself. My oldest was on Nutramagin - what a nightmare trying to find it stocked in 1995 - Bless you all ❤️
