Will never own a car with a turbo on it. Would rather have a bigger engine naturally aspirated that will burn a little more fuel, but be under less load stress for a long life.
It goes even further than that. They're finding any excuse ro reject warranty anyway. There's a case in the US where a gr yaris was burnt out because the engine can't give what is demanded from it. You can strap whatever pergormace parts you want on it, but its still a 3 cylinder engine! Its too weak. If you drive it more than a normal yaris they reject warranty. What is the point in buying a gr? They rejected because the driver drive 80mph 3 days prior. Any gr owner is gonna drive it more than a normal yaris, but watch out because they're finding any excuse to get out of it and they have all your driving data

I just bought a 1990 Toyota Hiace decommissioned fire truck. 8,500 bucks 23,000 mi. I don't need to tow anything very heavy so this thing should be good until I die. Forget a modern $70,000 truck.

Scotty, January 2022 I purchased a 2021 Tundra (15,000 miles) they tried to sell me the V6 Twin Turbo. I remember you saying to stay away from them and I'm so glad that I did. That i Force V8 is a dream. Never will I buy another truck. It replaced my 1995 Silverado that I purchased new. Guy who bought it is still pounding the pavement. It's always Tundra Time for me.
I have a 2000 Tahoe. I put a rebuilt transmission in it at 200,000 miles. I’m driving this thing till it hits at least 400,000 miles. None of the new rigs are worth the money.
Always favored Toyota (Camrys and pickups) throughout the years. None of the trucks (turbo 4cyl and turbo 6cyl) interest me. Was looking at a Camry but they’re all hybrids now; pass, not interested in hybrids. Got a Subaru Outback back in 2017. Guess I’ll replace it with another Subaru.
Not sure what's going on with North American trucks, but I've never heard anyone complain about the Toyota Hilux trucks sold in my country. They are the most popular truck on the road here. Even when you look up the recalls, it's minor stuff for Hilux.
Best economy car ever made, sad they stopped making them because it wasn't as profitable to them. I own 3 now. Last one I sold had 280, 000 miles and only ever needed basic maintenance. Original engine and transmission. 40 people contacted me within 3 hours of listing it for sale, gone in 3 hours.
The new Tundra doesn't have Toyota's legendary reliability which is sad. At least Toyota is going to replace the engine. GM, Ford & Chrysler would not do that as they don't want to spend allot money to fix a problem as they don't like losing money. They don't care about the customer the way the Japanese automakers do
I have lost my faith in Toyota's ability to offer a quality vehicle. I snagged one of the 2023 V6-powered Tacomas and will do my best to keep this one the road as my 'last' vehicle (I am Scotty's age).
Changing engines? Toyota will likely take the easy route and do an oil analysis. If the analysis is ok and there is no bad engine sound they will stamp the engine as OK, close their eyes and send the truck out. They have a word for this, "sayonara (good bye) !" No worries, if it was a German engine the word would be " auf wiedersehen." Sorry, I don't know Korean.
Toyota needs to be careful with this. Their "thing" is reliability plain and simple. Most of their everyday vehicles are not the most comfortable stylish or fun to drive. Mazdas on the other hand, are are amazing in those areas where Toyota's lack. Up until a few years ago Mazda was having reliability issues. Not anymore. I'll be looking to buy a new car in 2026. Will seriously consider the CX50 or the all new for 2026 CX-5.
Glad I purchased a new 2nd generation 2021 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro employing that bulletproof naturally aspirated 3UR-FE 5.7 liter V-8 engine and reliable 6 speed Aisan transmission
It’s NOT Just the Tundras .. The Prius Are Dying Between 100,000 and 150,000 Miles .. and a Disabled Veteran Who Bought a $100,000 Customized Handicap Van From Toyota .. The Ramp For Her {4} Wheel Electric Scooter Folds Out the Door, BUT Does Not Come All the Way Down … {3} “See Dealership” Messages On The Dashboard .. Piss Poor Quality!
In the past, when Toyota redesigned one of their cars, SUVs or trucks they would carry their reliable engine from the previous model to the redesigned model. This is why they are reliable. They don't a complete redesign from scratch as GM, Ford & Chrysler do
I just spent 7 hrs at the Toyota dealership waiting for them to approve a warranty claim on a bad anti lock brake module......its a 23 Corolla le with 21k miles..... It has the epb diabled and cruise control system malfunction warning light.......they let me leave with the car while they decide to replace it under warranty or not.. my was made in Japan...
Electric Parking Brake 😂 What a POS idea, I don't ever use any parking break, the parking pin is strong enough in the transmission. I'm 60 years old, 46 years of doing this. 😂 Good luck with those fools!
Nobody but Toyota made them, they chose a small stressed out motor to help their bottom line. They could have kept using the V-8 engine, but it wouldn't hurt their fleet rating slightly overall, which means higher costs to Toyota.
Scotty is really telling us like it is! So he is making friends and enemies with these reports on automotive news! I appreciate the information. It really helps when you expose the news on car makers' coverups on their bad behaviors with their customers!
The Silverado lady needs to SUE her former employer. Period. Even if the lawyer takes the loins share of her winnings, I guarantee they'll think twice before they ever do that again!
I bought a 96 Toyota about four years ago, just need to do the head gasket. Paid about $1,500. Such a deal, 2.7L, manual transmission, 4x4, OBD2 and no stupid airbags to total the vehicle!
The Toyota V8. Generation previous to the last ran forever. The generation prior to the V6 turbo are blowing head gaskets around 200,000 miles. Not great either according to Carcarenut channel.
Geez Scotty what is going on with the current automotive industry in this country? GM having problems with their fuel modules leaving people stranded on the road, Ford with their electric foolishness, and Dodge trucks that won't sell because they're so overpriced! And now Toyota the flagship of pickup trucks as far as reliability, now going down the toilet also! This is why many consumers are not in a big hurry to buy any new vehicles cause every one of them has issues! I don't give a damn who they are, just follow the tow truck operators on UA-cam and you will see what's being towed and who has the problems!
I was thinking it was 102,000 engines Toyota is going to replace in the 2022-23 Tundras and they are setting up an engine line to produce these engines.

No worries, if it was a German engine the word would be " auf wiedersehen." Sorry, I don't know Korean.
Is there any decent vehicles any longer.
No. That's why all sales are at zero.
Too bad Toyota, why sacrifice your reputation when the world market can be yours. Stay with quality, its integrity.
Thanks Scotty
Each of your videos is a real discovery! Thank you for your ideas! 👅💋
Got a 2023 tacoma SR5 with V6 plus an 8 yr. genuine toyota 125 k mile warranty.
Toyota isn't really admitting anything by replacing 100k engines. They are pointing their finger at the manufacturing process/metal fragments etc.
Get rid of the turbo chargers and go back to the straight v8 or v6 engines.
Glad I purchased a new 2nd generation 2021 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro employing that bulletproof naturally aspirated 3UR-FE 5.7 liter V-8 engine and reliable 6 speed Aisan transmission
Looked at one of the new land cruisers. Thinking I might get one. Only available with a 2.4litre turbo. I’m out
What a joke, their a metric liter small or better. 😂
Take them back to court and sue them again
It’s NOT Just the Tundras .. The Prius Are Dying Between 100,000 and 150,000 Miles .. and a Disabled Veteran Who Bought a $100,000 Customized Handicap Van From Toyota .. Has Had it in the Dealership {4} Times Since Buying It! Airbag Failure - Side Doors Don’t Open / When They Open - They Won’t Close ..
They don't a complete redesign from scratch as GM, Ford & Chrysler do
not anymore
I just spent 7 hrs at the Toyota dealership waiting for them to approve a warranty claim on a bad anti lock brake module......its a 23 Corolla le with 21k miles..... It has the epb diabled and cruise control system malfunction warning light.......they let me leave with the car while they decide to replace it under warranty or not.. my was made in Japan...
Electric Parking Brake 😂 What a POS idea, I don't ever use any parking break, the parking pin is strong enough in the transmission. I'm 60 years old, 46 years of doing this. 😂 Good luck with those fools!
These always make me laugh
Then what should he buy if everything sucks
Find something you like and buy it. Ignore the histrionics in here.
No one in their right mind should by a used, latest generation Tundra
It was the government that made them change to another smaller engine. They just keep pushing the car companies for better & better fuel mileage.
Nobody but Toyota made them, they chose a small stressed out motor to help their bottom line. They could have kept using the V-8 engine, but it wouldn't hurt their fleet rating slightly overall, which means higher costs to Toyota.
Well...an ICE is only 10% efficient. Maybe they should improve on that.
Chevy must have built the engines for toyota 😂
Yunday replaced my engine free and it's running great! Yunday beats Toyota!
I drove VW Turbo Diesels and loved them. Super fast and the engines last forever. I had 250,000 on my Passat when sold it
Evening Scotty.
My 2024 Tacoma TRD automatic starting to have transmission issues
How do I get a Toyota Hilux diesel shipped to the states?
On a ship.
I have the sr5 Tundra from 2007, My 6 pack runs great, never a problem.
Great, informative video Scotty, you're a legend
Modern Day GM Trucks are worthless anyways, GM sucks period at least Toyota is actually making an attempt to fix the issues.
Scotty always tells it like it is !!
Scotty is really telling us like it is! So he is making friends and enemies with these reports on automotive news! I appreciate the information. It really helps when you expose the news on car makers' coverups on their bad behaviors with their customers!
Never buy Toyota pick-up etc. just because it's name! Corolla or Camry or NONE.
Trade it for a Nissan
😂😂😂
Scotty you need something new to talk about. Toyota isnt going back to a V8 because of pollution. Only way you will see it if its hydrogen.
Shoulda had a V8
The Final Nail in the Coffin for Toyota…And I’m pissed
The Silverado lady needs to SUE her former employer. Period. Even if the lawyer takes the loins share of her winnings, I guarantee they'll think twice before they ever do that again!
35-50 years ago they were the best.
I bought a 96 Toyota about four years ago, just need to do the head gasket. Paid about $1,500. Such a deal, 2.7L, manual transmission, 4x4, OBD2 and no stupid airbags to total the vehicle!
WOW ! Scotty, great ranting . Very entertaining and informative, thanks 😂
I bought a new 2021 Tundra Limited V8 6,400 miles
Probably could get at least what I paid for it!!!
Another RIP.😂
The Toyota V8. Generation previous to the last ran forever. The generation prior to the V6 turbo are blowing head gaskets around 200,000 miles. Not great either according to Carcarenut channel.
Their all in a race downhill to see who can make the worst vehicles. They are catching up to Nissan. 💩
CVT all the way 🙂
thanks for posting Scotty we really appreciate you ❤
Why do so many modern cars at low mileage have fuel dilution and piston slap problems nowadays?
Low tension piston rings.
Yes, you are correct.
hyundai is starting to look good
Time for a Japan built Mazda .
I can't imagine how Toyota can replace an engine for less than $8000
If they replace it at a loss they can write it off on taxes. Its actually cheaper for them that way
With 2 new turbos? No way
GM owner, lemon, that's a slam dunk lawsuit. They'd settle that one out of court.
They just need a software update!
Dude, forget GM 6:18
The best drivetrain Toyota currently produces has BMW stamped ALL OVER THE ENGINE🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣best 6 cyl MPG Toyota produces too 😂😂😂😂
lol? The Supra is the least selling vehicle Toyota has. Also, the crappy inline 6 engine “Toyota “ produce are not as good as the rav4 2.5L engine.
The fall of Toyota.
They have built gas engines for a hundred years and they still stink
