      Plus, you are flying that thing like you're a Horizon Hobby demo pilot or something. How come you're never this good at the schoolyard (LOL)?

    Nice video, Lovely plane, On my PT 17 I turned the elevator servo 180 so it's not in the way of the battery tray. With 3s 3300mah gives around 8-10 minutes of flying. I strap the battery on to the tray front to rear and some sticky foam tape on the tray to stop the battery from sliding.

    Nice flying! I am so happy I didn't pulverize the Stearman on its maiden voyage :) I took out the Merica for a few packs today at lunch. It was a perfect day to fly.

    I've been thinking about this plane and maybe getting it next.thanks for the video,I trust your review and I believe as soon as my wife tells me I can buy another plane this is gonna be the one. I fly out behind my house so a nice slow flyer is what I love

    Good review on a nice little plane. I just purchased one myself. One thing though... your bottom wing clips are the wrong way around. They are supposed to be set up so that forward motion of the plane keeps them pushing in rather than pushing out of the rear. Flite Test boys did the same thing lol. I put a small drop of epoxy on mine as well so they didnt move at all.

    Great video with lots of input and build info. Thanks for sharing. I had one of these models in hand however not ready to yet. I have Dynam Waco for two seasons and it is a great flyer. The motor is noisy and it is not efficient, burns up a 4s- 2600 in five minutes. This PT-17 model is typical of this series from E-flite like the war birds real nice scale flyers and quite stable yet some what under power. I bumped up the P-47 to 4s with much better performance. I'm thinking the PT-17 is a good choice at 3s and I will probably have one for the 2018 season. Thanks again and have fun :-)

      I think you would like this one. It gives a nice balance to the faster, more powerful planes. Good for just puttering around the sky when you want something low key but still fun.

    Nice man! My balance did not come out as nicely and really needed some nose weight.. about 2 ounces in the hollow radiator and a bit of down trim. By the time my PT-17 was flying nice and level on 3S, it was too sluggish for me, coupled with the fact that I'm flying a mile up.. hence is why I converted mine to 4S. When I did, I was also able to use less nose weight and less elevator down trim, so win win situation. :) Looks like you're having a great time with yours though! The PT-17 is a great easygoing flyer indeed. :)

    • @DiscoverRC
      @DiscoverRC  6 років тому +1

      that's a good point - going 4s will add the weight with the battery - much better than dead weight. It's great that these planes can be easily modified to whatever type of flying we want to do. :)

    My Waco by Dynam flys pretty much like that. It is real floaty but requires lots of sky to loop in. I have to say most biplanes are tail heavy. I shoved lead in my nose to move the CG. I didnt want mine to be a speed demon and rightly so. I would invest in something else if I wanted speed. That being said,I enjoyed you video even though the neighbors dog didnt. lol. I have the UMX Waco and enjoy flying it even though there is no compairing the two as far as abilitys and size. I also noticed that the Waco has its limits on verticle.

    • @DiscoverRC
      @DiscoverRC  6 років тому

      that Waco is about the same size I think? Yeah I started with a gws tm and for a long time it was just easy flying. Still like that kind of rc but it is cool we can upgrade these planes easily now.

    • @scottfirman
      @scottfirman 6 років тому

      Discover RC ,I agree. I enjoy flying pretty much anything anyways. I cant get myself to fly the wing style planes. I tryed flying one on my simulator and kept confusing the top from the bottom and crashing. As I have issues judging distance and not the greatest eyesight far away,I know better than tempt fate. Its a given I would destroy a wing. The simulator doesnt lie. I actually taught myself to fly a helicopter on a simulator ,after spending all winter training,by spring,I was confident enough to buy one and fly. I do pretty good. I am not into 3'd or anything but I can get it to take off to circuits and land without crashing. That tells me that flying a wing is out. The sim doesnt lie. I am rewatching your flight again....damn I hate winter. We dont have any snow yet,but the cold and wind really messes up my flying. Thats a real pretty plane. I like the spring action landing gear most. I have crashed my Waco,something about a lone willow tree in the middle of my flying field and me testing my inability to judge distance. I have to admit, it was funny watching those long branches being shaved off before cartwheeling my plane down to the ground. The damage was minimal and I had it back flying later that evening. I have crashed it harder. Requiring replacing cabaines and what not,but I learned alot on what not to do. Foam is easy to repair and I dont want show room wall hangers. I am not ashamed to say I make mistakes and do dumb things sometimes,I still enjoy flying and after I repair my planes,I swear they fly better than the original.

    I'm impressed that it doesn't fall on it's nose when landing. Thanks for the review. I like the way it flies. Hate the parts fit problem but do it once and you're done. One thing I didn't see was where the battery goes but saw a plastic tab so assume the cockpit lifts out? Would there be room for a 3000 3s do you think? I have a zillion 2200's though. 8 or 9 minutes on a 2200? Thanks again!

    • @DiscoverRC
      @DiscoverRC  6 років тому +2

      there is a plastic battery trade that can be taken out - I think a 3000 pack should fit. Yes I was flying it 6 per pack but landing early. I wanted to discharge the packs, 8-9 minutes should be doable.

    • @keithbinder1169

      Ira Miller I modified my battery rack with a two inch piece of 1/2 plywood which lifts the battery up just a little to fit farther into the engine area. I use venom 11.1v 3300 mah batts. I can email you a pic if you need to see it....
