I bought mine couple months ago and I love it. This is proper modular synth where you can use many sources to modulate many synth destinations in eight slots. Plus excellent arpeggiator with individual step editing and paraphony make this synth real bargain.
The Blofeld is really great value as well. I also have the Microwave XT rack unit and the Waldorf Q Keyboard...which blows any Virus away and think it still sounds much better than say the new DSI Prophet 12...meaning the Q can sound much more analog, with it being entirely digital, than the P12...I do not own the P12 but I do have a DSI Mono Evolver Keyboard poly chained to a Poly Evolver Rack for 5 voices of analog/digital hybrid. You would LOVE even the desktop Evolver...hint hint.
Maybe a little bit, but it is deeper sounding than any VA out there. I also have one of the best VA ever made - Yamaha An1x and I can tell you - Pulse 2 has more bottom end. It is excellent for bass sound ;-)
The AN1x is better at analog modelling and bass but it's hard to find and pull out. But once your there your there. I recommend downloading a sysex to save time. The Pulse2 does give a different type of bass so both are useful and there is not much overlap between them.
@Jock Ronayne AN1x has the advantage of effects (delay can fatten up the sound) and overlapping 4 waves and a lot more modulation and the ability to sync pitch. With a lot of work you can get a softer bass thats more analog sounding and complex (modulated). However, ultimately I think the Pulse 2 wins overall. Because it's difficult to get a nice punchy bass on the AN1x but this comes quite naturally and easily on the Pulse2. Though the AN1x does have the advantage of effects and generally is more musical/soft/deep. It's hard for me to compare as they dont really overlap. i.e. have their own unique sound.

For real! I got mine used for $425 in the states - it was just too good a deal to pass up. I'm enjoying it immensely as my first analog.
love it!
Thanks man. It's great synth:-)
Very nice! Great synth as is my original Pulse+ model...but both sound distinct enough to keep both:-)
Thanks. They sound little bit different, but both sound great. Waldorf makes great sounding synthesizers for decent price.

+Robert I Yes, I think so, too. ...and keep both :-)
Good demo, excellent synth, I love mine >)
Thanks. It really sounds great. Very ''snappy envelopes" and a lot of modulation possibilities
Sounds similar to an analog modeling synth...

I had one of those Yamaha groove box things that had the AN1X engine, great sounds! I sampled it before i sold it and still use the samples a lot.
