The S24U had real world improvements over the 23 that made it a far more appealing upgrade than the 25 from the 24 does. The anti-glare screen was a massive improvement and a peak brightness jump from 1750 to 2600 was something most people would notice and find useful. Aside from faster specs on paper that many people will never notice, I see no real world advantages to the S25U, especially with a very useful feature that Samsung took away so they could push their smart watches and rings on people.
@@DustinZilbauer I am always very suspicious of the JRE scratch tests. To me, it appears to simply be his determination of how much harder he needs to scratch at each level. If that is the case and if there is no consistent way to definitively provide the same level of scratching intensity on every single test, then I don't hold much credence in the test. Having said that, if the difference was between 1 or 2 and 7, that still may indicate an issue. But the difference here, I believe, was between 6 and 7. So for my money, there does not appear to be much of a difference. As for being cheap, I guess that is in the eyes of the beholder. I spent a fair amount of time holding the S24 Ultra and find the S25 Ultra to feel just as premium and the S25 Ultra is certainly much more comfortable in the hand, IMHO.
As someone who upgraded from the S23 Ultra to the S25 Ultra, most people really don't NEED to upgrade. Is it better? Sure. It's not substantially better though.
They have a deal right now, 750 credit and a free storage upgrade, so trading in my S23 ultra with 512gb, I get a S25 ultra 512gb out the door for 549, I'm seriously thinking about it, what do you think?
What made me get my S23 Ultra was the fact it came with Snapdragon only, where here in the UK, the previous S series were Exynos. I did get mine with a discount and free Buds 2 Pro. My S23 Ultra has performed great and I don't intend to replace it for a couple more years yet.
@@InGratitudeIam So we need to have both in hand to decide whether or not to buy? The whole point of a review like this is so we can make an 'educated' decision. Btw the first conclusion of this 'educated' review video was also that we shouldn't upgrade. Congrats on your S25U, no need to shit on others' preferences.
I had both in hand and didn't notice much difference. The 10x camera is better on the 23 and i prefer the rounder sides too. My 23 still feels snappy in day to day use. But it's not a good idea to buy 23 now since there is only 2 or 3 more android updates coming. Better get the 24
@@DS-vx3wf oh that's a really good deal in the US. Here in UAE, the price has come down under $1000 in offline retail shops. You can exchange s23u and get the s25u for around $500
It's the same camera in the s23u. If Samsung wanted to adjust things they could just push forward the software tweaks. The same battery size and charging speed. No 10x optical zoom. No Bluetooth on the s pen. The base model is still 256gb, and there is still no 16gb of ram. It's a waste of 2 years. You get downgraded options, and are gaslight into believing ai is great. I'm going to pass.
Worth it for me for, I thought the S23 Ultra was in no way slow, but the S25 ultra is in a league of its own. Everything is way more responsive and fluid. I am liking the design so far, it no longer wants to poke holes in your jeans with those sharp corners, and I love the flat screen and anti reflective coating. Camera is actually better in my test, I supposed due to AI since hardware is the same.
The hardware is not the same. The 8 elite is alot more powerful but also uses less power than the 8 gen 2. Things like the speakers, vibrator motor, cameras, thermals have all had improvements to make the entire device more power efficient. Just because they both have the same 200MP sensor for example doesn't mean they havent made improvements to power efficiency and optical clarity
@@Wedgeman_Riley true, I guess I should of said the hardware is very similar not the same. Mainly speaking on the main camera though, as obviously the Ultra wide is a big improvement and surprisingly IMO the 10x digital zoom in the S25 Ultra gives better results than the optical zoom in the S23 Ultra 🤷♂️
I decided to keep my s23 ultra for one more year. Its the best samsung phone ive ever had and its given me 0 reasons to wanna upgrade. Hopefully the s26 ultra is a bigger change. I do love tge s25 in the hand though, it feels great
The Galaxy S25 Ultra demonstrates significant improvements over its predecessor, the S24 Ultra, particularly in software and battery performance. However, the S Pen experience in the previous model remains superior in terms of convenience and responsiveness.
I got the s23 ultra at a 1000 discount from 3 promos stacked on top of each other. There's no way I'm changing out of my s23 ultra unless it starts breaking
The funniest thing i've realized is the NEED of people to JUSTIFY their spent money with stuff who actually doesnt have any logic sense of getting, when they already have something that brings 99,99% of it, or even more than that. And im talking about those who really have money to do that. Know people who use a Note 20 Ultra and yet are an amazing phone, major changes are only on software years from now. Look at the results... this video is a great example of what im saying, they're pretty much the SAME. So why getting a brand new one each year? I mean, each 2 years its a nonsense at all. I realize that. Im that kind of person. I use to get another and another in 10 months max. But why? It seems the BILLIONS companies (Samsung specially) are wasting in marketing are worth it for them by the way, despite the amount of changes every year are almost one. Maybe using billions of marketing area on the innovation area would be a good shot.
It's because they have the money to burn with, they don't care as long as they will have one latest phone to flex with even if it is not worth it. So tired of these people who always switch phones every 3 months like they are disposable.
@arjames26 but that's right what I'm saying. It is just to fulfill their conscience with those arguments that those tiny little improvements justify the bought. Pure ego, unfortunately.
After years of going midrange and seeing them become sluggish after a couple of years I went with the S23Ultra and, to be honest, I'm sticking with it. It still holds it's own in every department, the dex feature allows me to have a laptop experience without carrying one and, here's the kicker, I really use the s pen as a remote shutter which is now gone as a function unfortunately. I don't expect it will actually last 7 years as the long term support marketing says, but so far it feels like a brand new phone so I'm happy to have splurged on it two years ago.
There's a lot to like about the S23U. It's a great phone. There are a few other ways to remotely take a picture. I love the macro capability the S25U provides. But having both in hand, it's obvious that the S25U is actually a much better phone. Still, if the S23U rings your bell, there's no reason to change. Since my S23U battery is starting to degrade, I decided to switch.
@InGratitudeIam if the issue is the battery, that's a whole other story but personally mine is doing just fine maybe thanks to the routine of battery health I follow. As for the s pen alternatives, sure there are but this gets the job done without any hassle so I'm loving it and hope they bring it back for when I'll feel the need to move on to another phone
I started my Note journey with the Note 1. Followed up with Note 3, Note 5, Note 8, Note 10 Plus, S23 Ultra...and now Pre-Booked S25 Ultra. For me, as a medical student back then, the curved display was a downgrade. I practically took notes of everything on my Note series. And i cracked every screen atleast once since the screens curved. The note taking ability was also downgraded once the screens curved as the S-pen would always slip at the edges. The main reason for me to upgrade from S23 Ultra is the Flat display.
Great content. As for the black rings, Samsung cheepend out, Jerry Rig, showed us that they are glued on.😮. No Bluetooth in the s pen 😮 and believe me, a lot more than 1% use it for more than remote picture taking or using it like Harry Potter. A lot of people use it for PowerPoint presentations, especially if you're using DEX on a monitor to show your presentation to your team. You swipe to go to the next page. Very useful.
When I change my phone, I like to feel a huge improvement in everything. I have the S23 Ultra and will only trade it for the S27 Ultra. By then, Samsung will probably have put in a 6000 mAh battery of silicon-carbon, a screen with twice the brightness and 4th generation of anti-reflective layer and 4th generation of Gorilla Glass Armor. In terms of cameras, the S27 Ultra should be Samsung's phone that will have everything updated on all sensors since the S23 Ultra. The S27 Ultra is expected to come out with a new main camera and the S26 Ultra is expected to change the 3x one and is rumored to have a new 200 MP 1/1.5 zoom. I also hope that by the S27 Ultra, all cameras will record in 8K and all take 25 MP photos by default. Android chips previously increased 30-35% in performance from one generation to the next, which would make the S26 Ultra twice as powerful as my S23 Ultra and S27 Ultra 3x more powerfull...But now the chips have had a 45% performance upgrade per year, which makes the phone with twice the power of my S23 Ultra not the S26 Ultra, but the S25 Ultra, which will make the S26 Ultra the one that will have the 3x the performance and the S27 should have 4 to 5x the performance of S23 Ultra. Now imagine I swap my S23 Ultra for the S27 Ultra which will possibly be 4 to 5x more powerful, a screen with twice the brightness and anti-reflective layer, 6000 mAh of silicon-carbon battery and will have changed all the cameras, to the point of the 5x zoom camera going to 1/1.5" 200 MP. This would make the S27 Ultra zoom sensor area being 5x larger than the 10x sensor of the S23 Ultra and 20x higher resolution, apart from 4 years more processing improvements and change of sensors from other cameras. Now thats a huge improvement in everything
Not saying that the S25 Ultra is not considerably better, but I want a huge improvement in everything. All-new sensors and a way better image processor, 4 to 5x the performance, double the brightness, and a great improvement in battery life and size. The zoom camera is my favorite, and if it's really going to have that new 1/1.5" 200MP sensor in the S26 Ultra? That's going to be amazing-5x the sensor area and 20x the resolution? Man, that's incredible. And I prefer the S27 Ultra to be the one changing the main camera and the S26 Ultra changing the zoom cameras. Because the S26 Ultra is going to have the new hardware, then the S27 Ultra will improve the image processor of those new sensors. And the S27 Ultra, if the new main camera doesn't come 100% polished at launch, they will not wait a generation to improve it because it is the main camera; it has to be good. So, that way, the zoom cameras will be better optimized in the S27 Ultra, and the main one as well, and that would be just perfect for me. According to really credibility rumores, this is the most likely scenario and a realistic one. I would love a new 1 sensor 200mp main camera, but I have to be reasonable
12:02 , wait what s23u 10x has noise and that too in day light , common guys you can atleast be little blunt thats its ruined by ota update ,, everyone knows s23u 10x was beast at launvh time until s24u came out and they gradually degraded camera...
When I discovered that I get £63 less trade in value for my 500GB S23U compared to a 256GB S23U that scuppered any chance I was going to upgrade. Only thing I'd like on the S23U that the 25U has is Log video recording, and who knows that may get rolled out to the 24 and 23 models.
It wont. Thats the reason the entire s25 lineup uses snapdragon because the log video doesn't work on any other chip. Things like the noise removal from videos where you can make cars and crowds quiet is also s25 exclusive as its all on device which the s24ultra isn't powerful enough to process
I've really enjoyed my S23U. The S25U is a better phone as you've pointed out. I upgraded because of trade-in value, the cameras, and the screen. My battery is starting to degrade, so it's time. The difference in the way the two phones feel is obvious. I like the feel/weight of the S25U more. I like the flat screen. While the curved screen of the S23U looked nice, it was a bit of a pain when using the S-Pen for editing photos and writing notes. I'm okay with the S-Pen's BT capability going away. The sound is superior and the noise cancelling capabilities are impressive. And yes, those dark rings around the S25U cameras are for minimizing reflections on the lens, which makes for a better image. I do think that for those on a budget but want in on the Ultra experience, getting a refurbished S23U or S24U makes a lot of sense. Now that the S25U is out, those phones are much more affordable and still impressive.
Very well put. I did the same not because my S23U was bad but mostly the battery performance and the incentives Samsung's offered with the upgrade. It was no brainer to upgrade for 499$. One thing I am really enjoying is the wireless charging speed upgrades with qi2 especially when I'm driving.
I likely wont be making a decision until we know how many of the changes are hardware based and won't come to the S23U vs software changes that the S23U may get with the UI7 upgrade.
I have also s23 u but new model is a real upgrade in significant aspects....display, is lighter, night shots, speed charging, speakers.....etc....major upgrade
I pre-ordered my S25 Ultra. I will trade in my S23 Ultra. The S23 is a beast but I just felt like upgrading because of the cameras. I'll have my s25 Ultra in hand tomorrow.
I'll probably upgrade because of the trade in allowance given. Additionally, Samsung gives a $130 credit for other accessories. I'll pick the watch. Then I'll sell the watch for around $100 which brings my net cost to around $400 for this phone.
The differences are minimal in favor of the Ultra 25. With a software update for the camera you can solve a lot on the 23 Ultra .But Samsung will most likely not do that. The camera hardware is the same but the processing of recordings is different due to software. I appreciate your content but you are there for Samsung to recommend the latest device. Realistically it is not worth the money and effort if you have an Ultra 23 or 24. That said the Ultra 25 is a top device.
Upgraded from the S23 Ultra to the S25 ultra. The software is sooo smooth overall, is lighter, the flat screen so gorgeous. The S25 ultra is just such a pleasure to hold on the hand and did I mention is absolutely buttery smooth?! no regrets here.
Im typing this on that lovely green 23. Not happy with what they have done after. Other than I agree with the flat screen. If I could get the 23 hardware with a brand new battery and the 24 screen... It's not about to me the uniformity of the bezel. I loved the trip screen. If it wasn't a device I put in my pocket. Finding a screen protector that gives you adequate lip without destroying the roundedness is impossible and you end up breaking a screen
22:11 " i, i , i, " i understand its your perspective, but we have ppl incluiding me, who use the device, with 4g 5g all day, sometimes in hot days, the 10hour youtube playback dont apply here, its time to a better speed charger, like 80% 20-30 min atleast
You kind of contradict yourself at the end. 2 years is a long time in smartphone land. And then you say you can upgrade now and you'll have an exceptional device for years to come. Same could have been said about the S23 2 years ago
Love my S23 ultra 512g. Really hate how heavy it is. Fatigue in hands daily. After refusing delivery of a brand new titanium jet black 512g S25 ultra, I've opted for the S25+. It's practically the same size as the ultra but much much lighter and thinner. Same selfie camera. Same point and shoot for close ups or a few meters away. And it's not an spen, it's a stylus lol. Part of me still wants to hold on to my S23 ultra as it's a special masterpiece. But I've traded it in. Have to wait 3 weeks. All in after discounts, £387 including the free buds3. I consider it an absolute bargain. I've come to terms with realising that a bulky brick is not the way forward. Even at 218 grams for the S25ultra, that's still unnecessarily heavy. Super thin and lightweight with all the power the ultra has and the new pro upscaling feature. No brainer..
1. antireflectivity...you can solve it with 5usd foil 2. sound is better on s25 true 3. camera improvements...yes but you can pass it...AI shouldn't interfere with live camera photo. The photo should be as real as it gets not twisted with AI. 4. processor power...better on s25... true 5. software updates will come to S23 ultra also 6. rounded corners..not my type...but flat screen is very nice...now you can use the pen. 7. you forgot to mention WiFi7 chipset on S25 8. Bluetooth function with SPen missing...I've never used it but could be implemented...I guess the new android didn't allow them. 9.Please make a review on the radiation per body weight to see why they become more radioactive
Samsung discontinued S Pen Bluetooth functionality primarily due to user complaints and inherent battery issues. Numerous reports cited charging problems and detection failures after extended use. This significantly impacted resale value and ultimately removed this uselss feature. Buy a Bluetooth remote instead💨
The main thing that intrigues me on the 25 is the weight reduction. I gave my Note 10 to my grandson many years ago. He recently brought it out (doesn't really work anymore) and I was shocked how light it was. I know the battery was obviously the main reason why but compared to my s23 ultra it's a feather. I love my 23 and it's a super future proofed piece of tech. Of course the higher nits, reflective screen of the 25 is also attractive to me but the 200 plus grams weight reduction really draws me. Also 8 elite and it's better battery use is a plus. I'm still undecided but I am at the end of my contract
I'm onto my 4th day with my new 25u and I don't regret trading in my S23u as the 25u is such an upgrade at a great price in the UK. The screen and the speed are amazing. amazing
What I would really love is if the S26 Ultra was to the S25 Ultra what the S21 Ultra was to the S20 Ultra: a refined overhaul with a changed zoom lens. And for the S27 Ultra to be to the S26 Ultra what the S23 Ultra was to the S22 Ultra: a main and selfie camera change, a better chip with improved performance, longer-lasting performance, and cooler running than the previous generation. That would be amazing.
I got the S23 Ultra on the fly when I arrived in the Philippines, so that I can stay connected with family in the US. That phone is amazing, but I’m okay with upgrading to the S25 Ultra. I’m getting the Titanium White Silver. I’m excited.
I am still rocking the S23 Ultra but I am holding out for the Qi2 magnetic ring from the factory. Rather have the flat screen than the curved screen. Don't use the S-pen often, and never have despite owning many Notes (2,3,4,10+) in the past.
Also, if the rumors are right and the S26 Ultra will really have a new 5x 1/1.5" 200MP sensor, that would definitely make the 20x look like optical zoom. A sensor five times larger with 20 times higher resolution? I think the S26 Ultra could have 20x looking like the 10x of the S23 Ultra, and the S27 Ultra, which would further improve the image processor, I think it would be the first Samsung to have usable photos at 30x. I really hope those rumors of that 1/1.5" 200MP camera are true.
The black ring is stuck down with glue. You can use a knife to pop it out easily. The back glass is also easy to remove because when Jerry Reed was using a knife to pry out the black ring, the back glass lifted up.
Never used the Bluetooth features of the S Pen, so don't miss them. I need it for clicking on things instead of using my fingers (too much of a chance to click something I didn't mean to with my fingers). I'm coming from an S22 Ultra, and I would say that is the newest model that you should update to the S25 Ultra. That S22 Ultra would get quite hot when playing even the simplest of games.
Upgrade from the S23 ultra to the S25 Ultra and the font size in notifications is tiny on the s25 with one ui 7. Can't believe Samsung have made them so much smaller. It's a basic accessibility feature. Mine is going back and thinking of going to pixel or iphone.
I am not even upgrading from my S21U... I was close to upgrading to S24U on the Black Friday deals and I absolutely regret it now. The deals have been amazing. Decided to wait because of the rumoured +30% more powerful snapdragon chip. I expected other solid improvements as well but this is not the case. Except the chip the phone is the same if not a downgrade. AI SHOULD NOT be a main selling point for a new generation of a Galaxy S Ultra, especially in it's current state. Not to mention two generations. Maybe that's why I don't feel like upgrading yet, because the S24U and S25U are just S23U with AI bs, and S21U to S23U is not enough of a big upgrade for just waste money on it. Seriously, I consider myself a tech enthusiast but all the new phones and AI are just sooo boring. Hopefully the this year's Fold will be the one IF Samsung bring down the price enough.
Thankyou so much for this video, now im convinced I have the more reason to keep my S23 Ultra and auto skip S24U and S25U. I'm excited for the comparison again once Android 15 OneUi 7 hits the S23 Ultra and S24 Ultra. Hope to see S23U vs S24U vs S25U on everything
Just upgraded. First impression: it's fast! One UI 7 is sometimes buggy and needs fixes, but it looks great. The AI is cool, but I am not using it. The navbar and similar features are not too convincing yet. The design of the phone is awesome-much better than before. Too bad I had to put it in a case.
I love the S23 Ultra's shape. But now that I have a S25 Ultra. I realized I like it more in appearance than actually holding it. Maybe its because my hands are so small. Plus I never really used any of the S pen's features than just a normal stylus. So, I dont notice any downgrade.
Yeah with the direction Samsung is going, I'm almost positive that Samsung will ditch the S-pen entirely with the S26U moving forward. Lets hope S25U sales tank due to not having superior S-pen functionality so Samsung will actually think twice about downgrading a key feature of the Ultra line up.
About the vapor chamber. The one inside the S25 Ultra is 40% larger than the one inside the S24 Ultra, and the S24 Ultra is 90% larger... That makes the one on the S25 Ultra 2.66x larger than the one inside the S23 Ultra
I've been trying to tell people all week. This phone is way better than the 23U. I have them both also and been doing test after test and the 25U is better in every way. It's funny how people say the phone hasn't changed much, but in just two years it's a big difference.
Upgrading From the S21U. I hardly use the cameras. So a tiny downgrade on zoom or no Bluetooth S-pen vs No S21U S-pen, doesn't bother me at all. It's a substantial upgrade.
💥💥As somebody who has a Samsung s23 Ultra, if you have it, i don't really see the purpose of upgrading unless you just want something new. As far as the weight I'm not concerned with having a light phone. I have a LG V60 one of my main problems with that it's light. It's a big phone but it has like no heft to it. That's why I use the dual screen case or when i don't use the dual screen case i use my OtterBox case to give it some heft. My regular s23 and my OnePlus 9 5g and Motorola one 5G Ace weight more than my lg v60. So i don't mind the helf my s23 ultra has. Samsung peeked with the s23 s24 Ultra s25 Ultra to me or irrelevant. I just watch flossy Carter review he said you aren't going to notice that much more performance from the s25 ultra not in the real world. I won't be getting rid of my s23 ultra until Samsung comes out with something that knocks my socks off and sorry the s24 ultra and the s25 ultra wasn't it.
Samsung peaked with Note 9 and since then they've been removing features from each new flagship phone (of course there have been improvements to processor and cameras since, but in terms of features it's been downhill). I stuck to my Note 9 for as long as I could and by the looks of it I'll stick to the S23 Ultra for as long as I can
I upgraded from S23U to S25U, it's better and worth the upgrade because of the early pricing incentives otherwise not really worth it. The response and overall personality are smoother, the S23U S-Pen constantly displaying as disconnected even though it is not. S25U stylus more comfortable to hold no sharp edge on the top.
Hey, I'm still using my S22 Ultra and I still don't see a reason from a usability standpoint to upgrade to a 23 or 25. Not to mention I own my device. For me to get a 25 that's $1,499 USD for the 1TB version. I can buy a table and/or laptop for that price. The cost doesn't make sense to me, especially not for my use case.
That's a shame, the edge always give an nice feeling in the hand because of the curve. I don't like lightweight phones as well, just like I added the weights to my logitech G502 hero. I need to feel resistance in weight, don't like the feeling of to light stuff especially because I get clumsy with light stuff.😂 And why should I downgrade losing my S-pen. And lose my 10x zoom with 200mp camera. Downgrade on the edge, camera, design and it looks cheaper more like an normal S series. Blue colours in the ultra wide s23 is more livid. Making the s25 look a bit blend/boring. 3x looks more sharp in s25 and stable/less noice, yet again I like the colours more again in the s23. 5x is an def win for s25 besides colour. 10x is for the s23. Night time is for the s25 and videos is the best win I guess. But is video an good reason to downgrade on the rest? Yea a little more performance. No I keep it, it's still beating the rest on the market and there is nothing for me that will pass me to the next phone. Hopefully 2026 will be better.😅 Thanks for the review.👍🏻
Thank you for the detailed comparison. Already pre ordered s25 ultra 512GB and agreed to trade in my s23 ultra 1TB for $750 credit. Generally I keep phones 2-3 years and look at long term viability. Also, if I wait for s26 ultra my s23 ultra won't have as much value left to trade in at that time. Thanks again for the video.
If I had an S23U, would I replace it with an S25U? The main and medium telephoto cameras are the same, but the ultrawide and supertelephoto have been upgraded. I don't use ultrawides much, the distortion is problematic and the main 24mm camera is plenty wide, so it's down to the advantage in the super telephoto on the S25U. Then there is the issue of air actions on the S23U S pen which aren't available on the S25U S pen. I am a power user of S pen air actions and that would, for me, override the supertelephoto upgrade on the S25U. So if I had the S23U I would keep it and pass on the S25U...
I have s23 ultra and s25 ultra is right now at delivery center. For me its just like a Windows upgrade type. They made Windows 7 which was amazing (s23 ultra), then Windows 8 which was less amazing (s24 ultra with screen issues and software issues) and then released Windows 10. Which was just perfected Windows 8 in some ways. Not a big change, but more of polishing. It feels the same with S24U and S25U. Except for the SPen of course. Thats a bummer, but I have not used the BT function ever.
The only thing that might make the S25 Ultra slightly better now is because OneUI 7. Once the S23 Ultra gets the OneUI 7 update even without some of the AI features most people won't care about anyway, it will clearly show that it's the better phone and how downgraded the S25 Ultra has been especially because of the Bluetooth functionality on the S23 Ultra unnecessarily removed on the S25 Ultra.
Been using a note 20 ultra for a while now. With the security udpates finally coming to an end, its about time to upgrade. Think the s25 ultra for $275 is worth it? I lose an SD card slot and will have to lose out on so much storage. I curently have 1.5 TB and its nearly full. Any suggestions?
Last year I took your advice with the s24 ultra and I'm very happy with it I'll be at a little big for me but at least we get all the good stuff and this year they seem to have added just the right amount of upgrades and it looks a little different so I do feel bad for the s25 vanilla though I think that it could really use a hardware upgrade as far as storage is concerned
Samsung dropped both the 10X Zoom and the Bluetooth S pen, they used to be the brand that pushed boundaries, now they have settled sadly, wonder when I'll be able to upgrade from my S24U
What about PWM? I really didn't prefer many, if any of the differences of the camera at all. Really disappointed they didn't do anything there. In general i have zero intention of 'upgrading' and clearly, as you pointed out repeatedly throughout this video, 2 years actually isn't long at all! Really everything they did with this is software only.
Love my 23U and it was definitely an upgrade from the 21U. I'm going to pass my phone down to my daughter and upgrade to the 25U Great jon on highlighting key points on the differences between the two phones.
NO! S25 Ultra is like an S24 Ultra refined. S26 Ultra is rumored to be the real upgrade (Possible adaptation of Silicon Carbon batteries, latest display from Samsung Display, and possible use of their own Samsung Isocell HP9 sensor for their Telephoto module)
Honestly got the s24 ultra recently only huge difference between the newest one is around 30% faster chip and a bit better pictures with better battery efficiency thanks to the new Snapdragon chip but previous Snapdragon8gen3 is still really powerfull and amazing phone lasts the whole day no problem if I'm not doing anything heavy on the device I wouldn't upgrade from s24 ultra besides that you won't notice the difference in smoothness and speed between the 2 only if your doing some niche rendering and video editing and yet it won't be a huge difference boths are top tier and the new one lacks Bluetooth in the Spen which is kind of a deal braker but of course it's personal preference i had an spen in my previous old but trusty note 9 and loved it so I'm sticking with my Bluetooth pen in s24 ultra
I don't wanna part with my S23 Ultra. Design, battery performance and basically everything about it is terrific.
I keep my S23U , but ordered a new mobile-contract with the S25U
then dont dawg. samsung doesn't have a pew pew to your head
As long as youre good with your phone, keep it. But Samsungs trade in promos sure are enticing.
Problem is camera processing its bad on s23u
I upgraded to s25 ultra but kept my s23 ultra i traded in my s22 ultra for deal phone is excellent 👌
The best feature of the S25 is that it will reduce the price of the S23
Maybe it's me, but I think the S23 pictures look much clearer and better brighter colours
Do you have both phones to compare side by side? In person, the difference is obvious, at least to my eyes.
I have compared the telephoto at 10x and s23u is much better in daylight.
@@tomson1470no it isn't
@@Wedgeman_Rileyit is . Specially noticable when beyond 20x.
I've got the S24U, my friend has the S23U. Her S23U is a beast. S23U fam, hang onto your S23U, Absolut powerhouse, and lacks in NO department 👊
Isn't the s23 the first phone they promised 5 or 7 years of updates? They can keep it for a long time
There's a lot to love about the S23U. The S25U is better. I have both and am sending in my S23U for a credit.
@InGranatitudeIam nah S24 Ultra way better
The S24U had real world improvements over the 23 that made it a far more appealing upgrade than the 25 from the 24 does. The anti-glare screen was a massive improvement and a peak brightness jump from 1750 to 2600 was something most people would notice and find useful. Aside from faster specs on paper that many people will never notice, I see no real world advantages to the S25U, especially with a very useful feature that Samsung took away so they could push their smart watches and rings on people.
S23 u can't record in uhd 60 fps and switch lenses
Seems like a downgrade. 10x zoom and no Bluetooth S Pen.
Yup
Also, it looks rushed and cheap and JRE did his usual scratch test showing the S24U glass was more durable.
Well the spen yes but he 5x zoom is has more uses compared to 10x so that seems more like an upgrade
@ezecharles1430depend on the usage. For taking pictures of architecture and animals 10x has more use
Same here. I agree
Thanks ill try to hold on for another year and re-evaluate.
@@RonLo
The same. I still go with S23Ultra. Maybe next year…😊
They have a deal right now, 750 credit and a free storage upgrade, so trading in my S23 ultra with 512gb, I get a S25 ultra 512gb out the door for 549, I'm seriously thinking about it, what do you think?
@@zachmasters7397 Same situation here, that's exactly why I just trade-in my S23 ultra to S25 ultra today.
What made me get my S23 Ultra was the fact it came with Snapdragon only, where here in the UK, the previous S series were Exynos. I did get mine with a discount and free Buds 2 Pro. My S23 Ultra has performed great and I don't intend to replace it for a couple more years yet.
How you get the free buds?
There's no big difference which makes me jump from my s23U to S25U.
Do you have both in hand? If not, you're making an uneducated statement.
Stick to it for 2 more years. After that maybe they'll give significant changes.
What was the "bring-it-back" value for the S23 Ultra? difference
They did away with bluetooth in the S25 Ultra stylus. This is a big issue if you like to take pics. I'm happy with my S23 ultra
What's wrong with just shouting out capture when taking a picture instead of the s pen?
If it's noisy outside, it won't hear you @@johnwoodberry3707
all in all, S23U is still best buy at the moment. as i said, nothing special in this S25U.
You might not say that if you had both in hand. There are some significant differences that a sheet of paper will not convey.
I had both in hand and didn't notice much difference. The 10x camera is better on the 23 and i prefer the rounder sides too. My 23 still feels snappy in day to day use. But it's not a good idea to buy 23 now since there is only 2 or 3 more android updates coming. Better get the 24
Samsung is offering $750 for s23U, if you buy S25U. total comes to $590 with tax.
@@DS-vx3wf oh that's a really good deal in the US. Here in UAE, the price has come down under $1000 in offline retail shops. You can exchange s23u and get the s25u for around $500
@ well that's not bad deal
I did also and loving every second so far
@@Wedgeman_Riley true, I guess I should of said the hardware is very similar not the same. Mainly speaking on the main camera though, as obviously the Ultra wide is a big improvement and surprisingly IMO the 10x digital zoom in the S25 Ultra gives better results than the optical zoom in the S23 Ultra 🤷♂️
I prefer the squared look to the rounded edges on the 25 so I'm sticking with my 23
I decided to keep my s23 ultra for one more year. Its the best samsung phone ive ever had and its given me 0 reasons to wanna upgrade. Hopefully the s26 ultra is a bigger change. I do love tge s25 in the hand though, it feels great
2030 well be my next upgrade 💪🏽 I will be pushing Samsung and it's updates to the max 🤓
You'll definitely have to swap the battery in between
The Galaxy S25 Ultra demonstrates significant improvements over its predecessor, the S24 Ultra, particularly in software and battery performance. However, the S Pen experience in the previous model remains superior in terms of convenience and responsiveness.
I got the s23 ultra at a 1000 discount from 3 promos stacked on top of each other. There's no way I'm changing out of my s23 ultra unless it starts breaking
Best is to trade it in for the S25u next year when the s26u comes out.
I upgraded from the S22Ultra to the S25 Ultra with 1TB unlocked,. I think it a great upgrade. Thanks for this video!
@@Wedgeman_Riley That's a shame. I will make do with the S23U for now and look forward to the S26.
9:22 , Using Gcam egoist library , basically makes the s23ultra the S25 Ultra. Better noise reduction, frame merging and more details.
The note 9 and S24U are the best of the series of all time
S23U not S24U
@Joshanpeter nope s24U
Aussie Steve Jobs
all he needs are the john lennon glasses :D
I likely wont be making a decision until we know how many of the changes are hardware based and won't come to the S23U vs software changes that the S23U may get with the UI7 upgrade.
Preordered my s25 ultra :) but i love my s23 ultra. My 23 will for sure will be my second phone!
I have also s23 u but new model is a real upgrade in significant aspects....display, is lighter, night shots, speed charging, speakers.....etc....major upgrade
Can't fault you for having a backup phone. You know the saying 1 phone is no phone, 2 phones is one phone.
I pre-ordered my S25 Ultra. I will trade in my S23 Ultra. The S23 is a beast but I just felt like upgrading because of the cameras.
I'll have my s25 Ultra in hand tomorrow.
Why do you need 2 Phones??
@yeniceri-hs9cw just more so for the preference really :) plus with my s25 ultra I want to start fresh
An option for Samsung is an app that merges true raw photos for superresolution.
Finally I can record at uhd 60 fps and switch to any lense without having to stop recording!
23 Ultra will be strong in 10 years, no need to upgrade after 2.
I have no doubts about the S25 Ultra, but if I were to be tempted by a new phone, I'm holding on for what the S25 Edge will be offering.
You kind of contradict yourself at the end. 2 years is a long time in smartphone land. And then you say you can upgrade now and you'll have an exceptional device for years to come. Same could have been said about the S23 2 years ago
S23 Ultra has the nicest build of any phone I've used in recent years. S25 Ultra will be interesting to compare for me.
What happens when you slap a tempered glass on top? Is the anti reflection stopped?
Yes. You gotta buy Samsung’s own screen protector if you wanna keep it.
That Always on Display feature is SUPER cool!
S23 Ultra legendary phone made by Samsung ❤❤
1. antireflectivity...you can solve it with 5usd foil
2. sound is better on s25 true
3. camera improvements...yes but you can pass it...AI shouldn't interfere with live camera photo.
The photo should be as real as it gets not twisted with AI.
4. processor power...better on s25... true
5. software updates will come to S23 ultra also
6. rounded corners..not my type...but flat screen is very nice...now you can use the pen.
7. you forgot to mention WiFi7 chipset on S25
I can see that. In my S23U, it's not uncommon for the pen to not connect via Bluetooth. It's annoying.
Still happy with my S23U. When the s28U comes out, I'll buy the s27U
Finally A screen I can use with a glass screen protector.
About the vapor chamber. The one inside the S25 Ultra is 40% larger than the one inside the S24 Ultra, and the S24 Ultra is 90% larger... That makes the one on the S25 Ultra 2.66x larger than the one inside the S23 Ultra
The shakeyness when i use the 100x needs to be more stable but besides that its cool
I've been trying to tell people all week. This phone is way better than the 23U. I have them both also and been doing test after test and the 25U is better in every way. It's funny how people say the phone hasn't changed much, but in just two years it's a big difference.
I love my S23 Ultra. I just can't let go of it..
Upgrading From the S21U. I hardly use the cameras. So a tiny downgrade on zoom or no Bluetooth S-pen vs No S21U S-pen, doesn't bother me at all. It's a substantial upgrade.
I wanna see the comparison when the S23 Ultra gets One UI 7 if it's possible, for what I'm seeing it's gonna transform the phone completely
I have a s23u and am getting the s25+, don't ever use spen, hate rounded screen and iv come to realised the ultra is too big for me.
I'm upgrading for mainly 2 reasons. One, the amazing trade in deals & I have two S23 Ultra phones.
I love your review, my first time on the channel and I subscribed
Im getting a free s25 ultra tomorrow from work, this video has immensely good timing for me, thanks mate
I need to feel resistance in weight, don't like the feeling of to light stuff especially because I get clumsy with light stuff.😂
And why should I downgrade losing my S-pen.
Hopefully 2026 will be better.😅
Thanks for the review.👍🏻
The design change honestly doesn't cut it for me. It doesn't look like an S ultra no more 😢
The only thing that might make the S25 Ultra slightly better now is because OneUI 7.
The ONE thing i was excited about was the phone being lighter than all the previous Ultras.
It doesn't feel lighter 😔
Its substantially lighter lol
Been using a note 20 ultra for a while now. With the security udpates finally coming to an end, its about time to upgrade. Think the s25 ultra for $275 is worth it? I lose an SD card slot and will have to lose out on so much storage. I curently have 1.5 TB and its nearly full. Any suggestions?
Well the s25 ultra does have those camera rings that’s only job is to protect the lenses. Those rings surely are reason enough for upgrading?!
Could you, please, do another comparison of these two phones when Oneui 7 comes out?
S23U is nowhere near of life. It still has 3 OS upgrades and 4 years of security updates.
Thank you so much for this video, this is exactly what I was looking for👍
Being lighter degrades the premium feel.
2K is not worth the upgrade from S23u to S25u. Just buy a 40 dollar anti reflective screen protector.
Samsung dropped both the 10X Zoom and the Bluetooth S pen, they used to be the brand that pushed boundaries, now they have settled sadly, wonder when I'll be able to upgrade from my S24U
Keep it up! Your work is amazing!
I'm going to pass my phone down to my daughter and upgrade to the 25U
Great jon on highlighting key points on the differences between the two phones.
hello loved your work. Should I upgrade from s24 ultra ?
Thts your decision to make.

I wouldn't give my money away on that.
I have the iPhone 14 Pro Max and series 7 Apple Watch, I can’t wait to trade them both in for the S 25 ultra and Samsung watch
Always appreciate your videos bro ❤🤙🤙🤙🤙
The infinity edge alone is why I love S23ultra...
