Without app developer support, the overall success of arkOS will be difficult. Huawei will have to release apps themselves to get buy some time. But for how long. Android has 2.1 million apps, and iOS has 1.8 million apps as of today. Yes no one needs 2 million apps, nor can one phone hold 2 million apps. China has many of their own US popular apps like Facebook (Ren Ren) Netflix (iQiyi), Tik Tok and etc. I think we should focus on US apps like amazon, Netflix, Snapchat, and etc.

Several major companies have tried their own OS. Samsung, Microsoft even blackberry. All failed miserably. These companies aren’t small by all means. Huawei is just like Samsung. With huge demand, but no in-house OS. Now releasing its own OS. Yes China has huge population and many Chinese feel compelled to be patriotic. Yet I’m pessimistic about the long term success of ark OS. Android and iOS are successful because a well developed and supported ecosystem. Huge support by company, users and developers. Microsoft is a perfect example how it couldn’t match iOS and Android despite its prowess in OS and software.

One must ask if developers are ready to learn another framework. There are couple really well designed cross platform framework, are they going to support 3rd. Frankly I don’t think so. Without app developer support, the overall success of arkOS will be difficult. Huawei will have to release apps themselves to get buy some time. But for how long. Android has 2.1 million apps, and iOS has 1.8 million apps as of today. Yes no one needs 2 million apps, nor can one phone hold 2 million apps. China has many of their own US popular apps like Facebook (Ren Ren) Netflix (iQiyi), Tik Tok and etc. I think we should focus on US apps like amazon, Netflix, Snapchat, and etc.

Ren does not want to list his company but rather split his shares among his company staffs with him holding only slightly above 1%. He believed that those who worked and sacrificed for the company should be rewarded rather than those financial institutions who manipulated the share market and telling the management what to do when all they want is to make more money to satisfy their greed. How many ceo in the west have such clarity of thought and purpose?
