Houseboat restoration set back. :(

- Trailer got caught on a stump or something at end of boat ramp in like 5 or 6 feet of water. Tried maneuvering it out. It stopped truck dead in its tracks. Eventually dropped it in 4wd and got the boat out. When trailer went over stump it slid the axle ubolts on one side back to the back part of the leaf spring and hopped the boat sideways hanging off the trailer. I had no choice but to side swipe the aluminum dock coming out becuase the axle was pointed that way. Sideswiping the dock ripped the back part of the wood cabin apart and somehow ripped the pontoon log end cap off the tube. It took a tractor, hi lift jack, 2 other jacks, all the tools at my disposal, and 6 and a half hours for my father in law, brother in law, and myself to get the boat back on the trailer. Worst day ever. I hope everybody is doing good and enjoying your weekend. Be safe out there!

Sometimes I can weld and it looks like a pro did it, other times it looks lime Ray Charles tried welding something together at midnight in a rain storm! Lol Ill get back at it soon. Same thing happened to me when I was 18, I just spent the summer fixing up a sailboat. On my way to the water to sail it with friends for the first time and the trailer came unhitched from the truck. All my hard work was destroyed. And on top of that, damaged my parents truck costing $5K in damage. Don’t worry, I fixed it up right after and it was easier the second time. Hahaha

Hey Zack - really sorry about what happened. You're a hard working crafty SOB, I know you can fix it. The State/Town should definitely fix whatever the trailer got hooked on or close that side of the ramp - there's no excuse for that. Hope you decide to do the repairs - I'll be watching and rooting for you!

Thanks for watching. Yeah when it happened my eyes took in so much negative information at once I almost had a meltdown. I took it home and parked it and have only touched it to move it so I can mow under it. I will get back on it in a few months though after I mentally prepare myself

WOW !! Unreal buddy , I bet your pissed about it , I would be and the hard part is you can’t blame someone else . You’ll get her back together I know it ! What’s up with the other house boat , you have a ton of time invested in her . You might windup buying 2 pontoons and if that’s the case you could go bigger in diameter also you could go 3 toon . That really sucks , I feel so bad for you ! Take a deep breath yell like your on fire and get it out of your system. It’ll help !
Great advice Dave! Yeah I still got the other boat. Thinking of selling it. I will get new pontoons for it if I cant end up welding the ones that are on it. A tritoon would be nice. I may turn it into a tritoon one day. I seen one the other weekend at the springs that had 4 pontoon logs under it! She was floating high! 🍻

Those mobile home axles are junk. Get a pair of real trailer axles and mount then farther back on the frame to give you more tongue weight. 1/3 behind the axles and 2/3 in front.
John I totally agree. That whole trailer is junk. After I fix it I will be looking for a new one. Thanks for watching!
@@zacksrandomprojects9698 Check my channel and look at the trailer I built for my pontoon boat. It’s a yard trailer which is great for lowering the boat onto the ground or into shallow water.

Im not messing with the other houaeboat anymore. I will probably put new tires on the trailer and pack the hubs with grease, weld on a new hitch on the front and then sell it. Thanks for watching!
