Thanks so much for uploading these Jerry Lewis shows. I have been looking for these for ages. I saw them when they aired (I was a teenager at the time) and always wished I'd recorded them because they were so incredibly bad that they were good. If I remember correctly the show aired on Fox (which was a relatively new channel at the time) and didn't air for too long.
So handsome and youthful at 58, I still love this man who brought joy and laughter to my life since I was about 10 years old in the matinee shows in Santurce, Puerto Rico. At my present age of 76, I still remember those movies. May he be in a wonderful place in heaven or wherever good people go.
Jerry's nutty professor was a work of creative genius and still my favourite movie of his, even though he did many great films with Dean and other movies by himself, including disorderly orderly
@@gregsimmons694 What has that got to do with this short lived talk show talking Jerry Lewis?
@jubalcalif9100 hello my friend:) It has everything to do with Jesus saves sinners my friend! If God would not have made humans we wouldn't be having this conversation now my friend! Real simple! God made you! Jesus can save you!
Wow. I remember seeing this as a teenager and thinking I could smell the polyester and Vitalis through my television. The comedy hadn't aged well by then, and sadly it really hasn't since.
Jerry Lewis - GET ON WITH IT!!!!!
LOL!
I see Shat borrowed a tribble for a hair piece.
Later he would have some pretty good toupees but the one he wore here in indeed horrible.
I have never seen this style of comedy that Norm dose. What a Professional performer and so funny
Miss ya Jerry
After The King Of Comedy, where he played a fictional talk show host, Lewis wanted to try - again - to be a real talk show host. He found a syndicator willing to give it a shot, but it flopped from the start and only lasted a few weeks.
Metromedia had a syndicated nighttime talk show called Thicke of the Night with Canadian Alan Thicke. Ratings were bad and Metromedia cancelled it in June 1984. They rolled th dice with Jerry Lewis, who was making a comeback after his great performance in the 1983 movie The King of Comedy. This talk show only lasted one week. Frankly I liked Jerry's show much better than Alan's.
It's entertaining in the strangest way. It's hard to explain but I want to keep watching
Sinatra was on Carson and also hosted
I love Jerry so much that I would watch him do anything. He could just sit there and I'd be happy. ☺ So gorgeous and 58!
The show is only a hundred times better than,Fallon,Colbert or Kimmell.
@@Anthony-ou2okif every late night host goes against one person, I’m backing that one person
Go from this to Sammy Maudlin and there's no difference. Wow!
I was thinking the same, The SCTV cast must of been inspired by these guys.
Simply hilarious ,miss you Jerry ❤️❤️❤️
OK, do not watch the Shatner interview (30:00) in one sitting. You are about to get 4 years of film school is less than 7 minutes. Also, it's dangerous to watch in one sitting. You will smash your head into your monitor. Watch one minute, go for a walk. Reflect. Watch another minute, have a bong hit. Then rest....for the night. Come back to another minute on another day. Savor everything. Stay with it, cause then you will also learn about horses.
Ha! The kleenex bit at 1:40 knocked me out of my chair! I can't stop laughing! Truly hilarious bit! They do just keep popping up out of the box. I gotta watch it again!!!

That's Jason Alexander impersonating Jerry.
I was going to post this too (but you beat me by a year). That looked like Jason Alexander on the left.
@@mozie9 Was it Jason Alexander? Obviously this planned sketch was setup by an agent to get them exposure.
SINATRA HAD DONE MANY TALK SHOWS WITH JOHNNY CARSON !!
I never knew he had a show on TV in 1984-probably did't have a TV then
@@lubetubeist and to hear him tell it, it was the highest amount of pay anyone ever recieved for the least amount of work. Which...isnt true. It was a syndicated show he tried to produce independently and it failed spectacularly.
@@MatsThyWit I have a notion to second that emotion ! If he'd been paid the huge sum he alluded to, the producers (Metromedia) would have picked up the show.
@@jubalcalif9100 completely agreed. Jerry had a tendency to blow smoke up his own ass a lot.
When real entertainers were entertainment.
Jerry is now 90. William Shatner is 85.

Once I came home .. the TV was on - and a Jerry Lewis film was playing. ..--.. Since I didn't see it .. from the beginning - I lost the information about - the title on the film ..--..From where I began to see it: Jerry was kidnapped with an ambulance. The ambulance were driving up a steep hill. Suddenly the backdoor opened .. and Jerry - tied to a bed .. came rushing out of the car. It started running down the hill, that had many bends. A stone here .. and a bump there - changed the direction on the bed .. so the miracle happened. It came down the hill. Ran through a shop with China (were I expected that it wouldn't be a whole saucer left in the shop .. but "the miracle" happened - no disaster). The next was a shopping center .... etc. ..--.. IF someone should know what film I am refering to - AND .. The TITLE of this film - I would really appreciate .. that - that someone, would share this knowledge with me. Thankyou in advance.
Metromedia doesn't even exist any more 12:40
Charlie Callas killed that intro! funny stuff!
You are kidding, right that was lame even 36 years ago. That's like your lampshade Uncle at somebody's party.
@@hankkingsley2976 He was no Johnny but way better then today's talk show hosts! Kimmel, Colbert, Seth Myers, Trevor Noah nothing but trash!
Never heard of this. What network and time?Charlie Callas was crazy and hilarious.
This was a syndicated show, produced by Metromedia. Wasn't picked up for a regular run.

Sinatra never did a talk show? Me thinkst he mispeaks.
Frank Sinatra was on the first episode of The Jerry Lewis Show, which was filmed that same day. It's on my channel too, but blocked if you're in North America unfortunately. Frank did not ever do talk shows. He did the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, only a couple of times.
That's kinda my point. He appeared on Carson a couple of times. Not trying to be an a**, just pointing out that Sinatra did in fact do Carson...so Jerry misspoke. I don't hold it against him :/ BTW: This is a great bit of nostalgia... worth it for Charlie Callas alone, but great to see Jerry, Norm and a young Shatner.
Ambrose Wolfinger Maybe he was just speaking generally that he didn't do those types of shows. Who knows.
@@givethechanceakid
I been looking for the one with Frank Sinatra on it. If you maybe be able to put a link to it I would appreciate.
Is that Louis Farrakhan?
crosby is genius, love that non sense talk
He had a very long career in clubs & on TV as a stand up comic. Remember watching him as kid back in the 60s on "The Ed Sullivan Show".
God they made it to episode 2 after the stinker that was episode 1?
Metromedia must have had a contract for the pilot to be a couple of episodes. I can see why they didn't pick up the show. Bombastic & unfunny. My ears are hurting from all of Jerry's loud shtick !
Didn’t he used to be younger?
His parents were both in show business, so he was performing on stage when he was five years old. I think that answers your question. He made a movie when he was 89. Now what have you done in your life.
This show was a HUGE disaster. Was canceled after only a few weeks. Jerry Lewis was hysterical as a guest but his schtick did not work as a nightly host. A lot of hubris to think he could go head-to-head with Carson. Where was Rupert Pupkin when we needed him?
Actually ThenJerry Lewis show was only a 5 episode trial in June 1984. Ratings were so low and critics hated it so badly that Metromedia did not pick up his show for a full run.
@@teresapflaumer5717 Correct. That is why there is no topical humor. But still a major disappointment. And was Charlie Callas ever funny???
@@teresapflaumer5717 After watching the first two episodes, I can easily see why Metromedia didn't pick it up. A little of Jerry went a long way. As someone else commented here, he was a much better guest than host.
@@January. Indubitably. I thought Charlie Callas was a very talented impressionist.
Way better than Letterman.
replaced another flop Alan thicke;s show right?
Thicke's show at least lasted 1 season. Jerry Lewis was given a one week trial and failed miserably.
shatner's toupee should have it's own credit! it's terrible.
Im sorry but i never found his style of comedy funny ,however he did do some funny movies but his stand up or schtick as they say is just not funny
Totally agree. His films, where he's playing a character, were MUCH funnier & entertaining than his stand up schtick. He was always funnier when he had a script to work with.
Painfully unfunny.
William Shatners hair piece doesn't look too bad lol 😂
*hairpiece
Reminds me of the Native American chief who kept his toupee in the oven. It was the only way he could keep his wig wam....
More importantly, Jesus saves sinners
