You may like or dislike Nightwish but this show is one of the most perfect performances I've ever seen. No mistakes, the sound and the engineering is amazing, Floor and everyone is perfectly focused and at their best.
Wacken 2013 is quite possibly one of, if not the best, live performances by any band ever. It was a magnum opus for Nightwish! We were all just absolutely blown away!

I'm in love with this woman. It's impossible to listen to her singing, or speaking with such a simpathy and naturality, and not to be mesmerized by her. In my opinion, one of the greatest female metal singers in history of rock.
Floor had Floorgasm. After a year of watching other people reacting to this song, having Florgasms, crying, having goosebumps, vocal coaches telling me all the little details about it, opera singers reacting and headbanging and turning into metalheads, reading comments under every reaction video... I am lost of words. All i can say is THANK YOU FLOOR! ❤️

I get what you saying and she is very consistent but she worked so hard for this and I would hate for us to portray a vibe of it coming easy to her. A machine is mechanical, bland and programmed to do things in the same way. In that sense Floor is as far from a machine as you can get.

Floor, I am 63 and have listened to so many bands and brilliant music throughout my days but Nightwish touch my soul in a way no other band has, you are amazing. I saw you guys for the first time in Vienna late 2022 and you blew me away. Tuomas is unreal, he writes so many 'perfect compositions' and you guys bring them to life. You though Floor have a voice and stage presence that brings tears to my eyes like no other performer ever has, you are a truly amazing artist and even more so (if that is possible🙂) such a beautiful person. Also a recent sad news - these days Marco Hietala, the bass player and male singer of the band, announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
As I saw, you enjoyed the powerful performance of the band, together with the stellar vocals of our Dutch metal queen, Floor Jansen. Hope you'll continue on this path.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Dear Ms. Jansen, Ive seen literally 200 shows in my life. Rock, Broadway, Opera, Musicals, Country. Discovered your music through a UA-cam reaction. Please don't stop until after I can get to one of your shows this summer in Europe. I haven't anticipated seeing a show like this since my first Judas Priest concert in1980! Truly an epic band with an Epic singer.

Maybe the vocal aspects are the hardest to Floor, so she stresses them, but this performance was way beyond that. Every single hand movement, the shoulders in "Redeem me...", her stance on the ground, the body movements after the last note, absolutely everything was perfect. More than a perfect singing performance, this was a clear demonstration of pure art; of what art can be when mastered to its highest.

there i was, four years in the army (not USA) and was on the bus back from the shooting range with my guys. had the headphones in and heard this performance. Did not know floor, did not know the song and just heard from nightwish. That performance was so beautiful that i nearly cried. i hid my face and the video and nearly shed some tears. i held it back, so that no one would notice.
after twelve years i quit the military and everytime i watch this video, it reminds me of this moment in time. Now i dont need to hold it back anymore. I love music for that.

I played this video for a friend of mine who usually hates anything that isn't country & western. He loved Floor! She and Nightwish have the ability to transcend genres and get people to just love and appreciate a great piece of music.

I am a 56 year young die hard Iron Maiden, and metal genre fan generally speaking. Believe me, never ever, have I cried to any song before listening to GLS 2013. And I still do. It was the biggest surprise of my life. Having Marko, Emppu, Tuomas, playing the song with such passion is an unbelievable feeling, but you singing and Jukka giving his all on the drums makes me feel like my soul was ripped off my body and taken to heaven.
Same as me, grew up in the 70's/ 80's heavy metal, and this young lady can melt my heart. Go wrestle a bear but yet Floor makes me tear up, crazy.

I was there, at the Colombia concert, when Floor was sick, I was in the meet and greet and the guy in charge came and told us 'We are this close to cancel the concert because Floor is very sick' and we were like devastated. But then Floor came to stage and she sang like she wasn't sick at all, her voice was amazing, she was amazing, my sister and I couldn't believe that she could sing like that being sick. She's amazing, they're amazing, definitely my favorite band.

Just watched this for the first time …better late than never! I cried. I have been to Nightwish shows (like 20 y ago) but this! You have singers and then you have Floor Jansen, wow.

Hello. It is extremely rare that I comment on a video other than when something resonates deep within my thoughts or I am so moved that I have to convey my feelings. While writing my comment, I think how can I say something that will stand out from the 1000s of beautiful replies, all of which mention just how amazing of a singer you are. The touch your talent has on so many people is breathtaking for every now & again a person comes along whose spirit for life & their craft, vision, hard work & dedication transcends everything & connects with so many.
Music is such a vital part of our enriched lives as is storytelling, something that nightwish does with such amazing level of musicianship & togetherness, that it makes listening to a recording a beautiful journey each time.
So for this, thank you. I rediscovered nightwish a few years ago & it truly has got me through some tough personal times of recent years. When I found the Wacken show, I was blown away. Mostly for just how technically astounding all of the band played.
It is truly awesome to see you reflect on that moment, especially 'that' note & all the emotions ranging from nerves to sheer adulation & connection with the crowd. I so enjoy listening about the technical side, but hearing you talk about the feelings & emotions only adds to the appeal. Seeing a band live is one the most spiritually uplifting moments in ones life. I have been to over 60 or so shows & each one resonated for the musicianship, the energy & those moments that are experienced at the time that will stay with us forever.
Nightwish are an exceptional group of people, both past & present & we as the listening audience around the world are blessed to treasure, respect & value everything you give the world.

Hey Michelle, here Piet from The Netherlands, 70 years. I discovered Nightwish four years ago. Floor Jansen was a participant in the Dutch Show ‘ De Beste Zangers 2019’ ( the best singers). Floor was fantastic there. All the songs of that show are on UA-cam. So ..from that time I am a huge Floor and Nightwish fan. So good. Greetings from the Netherlands

The thing is...i already knew and liked Nightwish since Oceanborn and Wishmaster, more than 20 years ago, but following too much bands i didn't care so much about the albums made after. Then, out nowhere, i discovered this version of the song just some days ago. Totally blown away and obsessed with your voice.
