      How are you feeling, I had it in late early April of this year. It has really flipped my life upside down. I'm still suffering from the horrible after math. Had to learn to walk again. Suffering daily with chronic back pain and doctors in my area are at completely lost at how to help me.

    I had this, bacterial I think. I'd never wish it on anyone. It's the most painful headaches, yes also referencing you migraine people, you will ever experience. I was just a kid so I thought it was just a bug passing through. I never realized how dangerous this was until I was much older. LP's (Lumbar punctures, they're used to gather spinal fluid for diagnostics) didn't hurt, they felt like someone punched you in the back. Watch House, and tell me you'd want that done multiple times daily for weeks.
    The headaches, randomly occurring, felt like someone was crushing your skull with hot iron swivel vice. Like I said earlier, I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. The pain was unbearable and unable to be treated with meds, since it's nerves.
    I still have the bean stuffed alligator my sister gave me, it's in my car. It's a nice reminder.

    I had this when I was 12, I'm 37 now. It hit me hard, my heart stopped and I quit breathing. My dad gave me CPR for 15-20 min, that's a long time. I was in the hospital for 7 days, during that time I received 3 spinal taps. Im not sure why I almost died, and had a seizure. This was one of my worst experiences in life and I hope that no one goes through anything like I did. Also in high school we had an epidemic with meningitis, it took the lives of over 8 kids, in one year. It felt like someone was dying every week. That was a very scary time. The school gave everyone student a big pill and had to swallow it infront of a nurse. Then they shut the school down for about a week. They had posters and daily announcements that told us not to share drinks and not to share anything really. My brothers good friend was found dead in his bathroom at home, meningitis took his life. The school is called folsom high, you probably could look it up, if you want to learn more about this deadly outbreak.

    I've just been discharged from hospital with this. I had flu for a week then felt like i had recovered, but then i got the worst headache in my life. I took myself to A&E it was so bad. Still now this is the main symptom 4 days on. I have blod in my nose every day with pressure feeling in front of head. Throbbing is all over head. Sickness every time i eat even though i am hungry. Tired. Sounds too loud. Light too bright. Dark room laid slightly back is nice. Aspirin and paracetamol is helping. I have 2 year old daughter but luckily my husband helping me with her so i can rest.

    I had the Viral Meningitis on April 2. I remember I was sitting holding my lil boy (near to 1:30 pm. o'clock) and start with the neck pain (I thought was muscular pain), then the headache, lots of chills and then the fever. The symptoms shows like an hour and half...For me at the beginning the worse part was the neck sore and headache. I felt like a big, big presure in my head. He fever don't come down at all...At 10:00 I was crying like a baby...lol. I remenber I was alone with my 3 kids and they was kissing me to help me to get better. When my husband come to home he took me to ER. They make a CT, a lumbar pucture, a several blood test...The results was positive to meningitis for endovirus...I was in morphine, peniciline and other medications. I spend 4 days in the hospital 2 of them with antibiotics because they said I had an infection and they want to be sure until the cultive come back negative...So far I had a epileptic attacks the third day. The headache was hard...Today I still with some complaints about my neck and some involuntary movements when I go to sleep...

    I was diagnosed with meningitis 3 weeks ago, was in hospital for 10 days with antibiotic and antiviral IV, waiting for the studies on my cerebrospinal fluid extracted on a lumbar puncture, it was diagnosed as viral so they sent me home to rest. For me the worst part was the headache it was by far the most painful one I've ever felt, and the 39.2°C fever...

    I had this as well but mine had rather new symptoms. Such as I had gone through paralysis,weakening of my legs,a severe tonsil problem. And what was weirder was I did not face any neck stiffness nor any fever. The doctors took a whole week to figure out that I had meningitis.

  • @Sarahpurple12
    @Sarahpurple12 3 роки тому +6

    I wonder if maybe what I went through recently was viral meningitis? I woke up with a stiff jaw and neck that got worse and spread through my spine and the entire left side of my body. A couple of days after this stiffness started, I had 5 seizures in 24 hours (I don't have a personal or family history of epilepsy), and developed this splitting headache mostly in the left side of my head. Whenever I stood up or when light hit my eyes at all, it was so sharp that I felt like I was going to vomit from the pain alone. I also had a slight temperature (37.8C when my usual temperature is around 36.5C), and a rash that was mostly on my chest but dotted onto my shoulders a bit, too. All of my electrolyte blood tests came back normal, my ECGs were normal, and all of the doctors have said they think it was a viral infection of some sort. It wasn't covid, I tested negative twice in one day.

    Bacterial meningitis is MORE severe than viral - not the other way around. Also, I'd like to point out that Acetaminophen/Paracetamol is not an NSAID. The video may not have said that it was, but the way it was worded, made it sound that way. Thought I'd point it out.

    My little sister had Haemophilus Meningitis when she was just 3 years old back in 1986. I was also a child at the time and I remember us all playing with our toys one day and Sally (my sister) looked like she had just run into the corner of a table because her eye area was totally red, swollen, and to me looked like raw hamburger (my childs perception/memory.) It all happened so fast, one minute she seemed fine to me and the next I remember I thought she had hurt herself or something. I was only 6 years old myself. My mother took her immediately to our trusted family pediatrician with my grandmother thankfully, because my poor mom ended up fainting into her arms because Dr. Titus literally started running with my sister to the hospital and said to his medical team "We will try and save her eye later, right now we have to try and save her life!" My sister was admitted to the childrens hospital and I wasn't allowed to see her for over a month while she stayed there. My aunt used to take me in her arms to the yard of the hospital so I could wave to Sally in the window with my mom and her nurses as she fought to recover. Thankfully she ended up making a full recovery and has perfect vision to this day. I don't know much about the disease itself and I wanted to research it and try and find out more information about it online, so here I am. From what I understand, back in the 1980's this was the number one killer of young children. I hope it is not still the case :( I have been finding information out about meningitis, and it sounds like there might be a vaccine of some sort for it which I really hope to be true. I don't know how I would have ever gotten through life if my sweet little sister had been taken away at such a young age. It's just the two of us. My parents would have never recovered mentally, I know that. My heart and sincere healing prayers go out to anyone out there who is facing this or any other serious illness like this. Please know that you are not alone and please don't hesitate to take your little ones to the emergency room right away if you ever notice anything like these symptoms developing because it happens extremely fast

    If its sure that the meningitis is caused by Neisseria Meningitidis you use Penicillin G/Benzylpenicillin. If its a severe case, you dont know the cause and the ill person needs an antibiotical therapy immediately, you would use cephalosporins of the third a generation, e.g. Ceftriaxon.

    A mistake spotted:
    3:19 VO: The symptoms of viral meningitis are similar to those of bacterial meningitis but are usually less severe
    But the animation wrongly displayed as: Bacterial less severe
    should be *Viral* less severe
    😅

      I had it at about that age as well, but I didn't have my enamel taken. I didn't know it did that, but I hear buzzing in my ears constantly from it. The doctors told me the meningitis is why.

    Is this curable?

    • @JacquelineMcIntoshNo1
      @JacquelineMcIntoshNo1 4 роки тому +1

      Yes. But you really need to get attention asap to find out if it's Viral or Bacterial. Bacterial is much worse. You'll feel a horrible pain up the spine, a horrible headache, but it will be more painful in the back of the head, above the neck, the neck will be very stiff. And it will be painful to bright light.
