Hi everyone, I just wanna thank you all for the support on this video! I really appreciate it and appreciate the constructive criticism as it is... Well... my first youtube vid. I'll stop running my mouth so fast next video and also tidy up my sound effects, as I'm originally a short-form tiktok creator it's a stylistic change I'll work on.
I'm working right now on 2 videos (bloodborne and minecraft). Thanks again, I'll see you then :P
Tbh your pacing was fine to me; really loved the video! Dark Souls 1 is a handful of changes away from being a perfect game and I will consume any and all ds1 content that crosses my feed.
Top 10 rappers vaati is afraid to diss
If only I could be so grossly incandescent…
solaire glaze video next ??!?!?!

I think Dark Souls 1 matches the feeling of being an unlikely "hero" in a dying world the best. None of the bosses really have these outlandish and crazy move sets You're defeating all of these legendary figures in the worlds, and gods, but it feels like they're past their prime(s), just like the world is. Which then makes the player character feel less like a god more so like someone overcoming 'impossible odds'. The best example could be seen with Gwyn. You get all of this buildup from the very start of the game that Gwyn is such a powerful figure, though when you see him he's a husk defending the last ounce of power he holds. The fight being accompanied with, not an orchestra, but with this solemn piano track.
The music is also the best in the series.
this video made me want to replay dark souls 1 again, downloading it right now.
The fact it was ever deleted or uninstalled is extremely disappointing and maybe you shouldn’t even be here.
I surprisingly agree with every point in this video, and that dark souls 1 definitely has some of the more memorable moments, and its interconnected world makes it feel alive and immersive. I love the cutaways too even if they feel a little bit clunky(?) if that’s the word. Overall, great first video, cupcake army eating with this one🗣️
If this is your first video essay, I think you're off to a great start. Best of luck with your future projects, just make sure they don't make you go hollow.
Had to sub, I can't believe this is your first video and Im thankful it made it to my homepage.
I love your narration, this video could've been an hour long and I wouldve sat through it all.
I do think the sound effects were jarring, but who knows, maybe it wouldnt have made it to my homepage without it, the algorithm works in mysterious ways.
thank you :) yeah I'll probably tone them down, but im finding my youtube style from tiktok which likes them. I'm sure the youtube algorithm is fine with less brainrot.
Dark souls 1 is should a vibe game
I really love how slow the game is at times as you just get sucked in to the world characters and locations great video 🔥
Absolute cinema, cant wait for peak souls 2 video
It's just so impressive how people still passionately talk about DS1. Miyazaki really has made timeless classics.
this video essay for a first essay is great, it brings up good points regarding the individuality of ds1, while also being to the point, im amazed, good job!
john sekiro BETTER appear in my room at 3 am
As much of a relief fast travel is toward the end, it does feel earned by the time you do get it, and not having it really makes you appreciate the connections and the real trek it is from bonfire to bonfire. I sort of hope they revisit that feeling in a new design some day. Always love to see more DS1 appreciation, it's where my heart is
I wrote a comment similar to this before in another video, but Dark souls 1 is my favourite game of the series. I don't think it's the best video game of the series, but it has such weird, charming moments, either jank or strange obsession to details that makes it so unique for me. So strangely immersive, odd, unique.
Really great, love it. Couldn't finish it because of your talking-speed, but I see you've commented on that yourself, so I look forward to your next videos.
I havent even started the video yet but ive gotten 3 inches taller and 6 figures richer just from clicking on the thumbnail. wow.
I remember showing my friend DS1 half a year ago. The look on his face when I got on the elevator back down to Firelink Shrine was priceless. I then said “that! That is why Dark Souls 1 is one of the best games ever made!”
Finally, someone gives Gaping Dragon the respect it deserves. I'm looking forward to the Subway Surfers next time btw
Is this the birth of a new legendary channel?
Great video, looking forward to more content! Editing and script 10/10 very fun
I'm glad you enjoyed, thank you
i have recently scored DS1 for the switch on a fleamarket and im so happy i did
its such a beautiful experience to play it on the go
born too early to live on mars but born at the perfect time to experience cupcake souls drop the peak of the century
Nice video and I enjoyed listening. Maybe drop the sound effects? For me they break what is otherwise a really chill discussion-style delivery with their interruptions.
Great work, awesome videoessay, loved the transitions haha Only I had to watch at 0.90x speed.
DS1 really captured lightning in a bottle, truly a game of all time. A DS2 cut content video would prolly be fire!!
thank you, yeah I'll definitely slow down a little next video lol. I'd love to cover the cut content, I probably will at some point
I wish another game has the courage to take away fast travel and make it a worthwhile reward
Dark Souls was my first Souls game, and it's closes to Demon's Souls in the fairy-tale quality of tge FromSoft Souls-era games. DS2/3 came after the Soulslike genre became fully solidified, so inherently came with expectations.
7:20 Well, there's also Doomguy, Guts and Rengoku-san
I've been playing and watching dark souls 1 for over 10 years now. I will consume any and all media the community generates for my all time favourite game. I will listen to a youtuber with 200 subscribers yap about it gladly. Great video miss! I like your fashion souls too lol
DS1 is my fav in the series, no doubt, absolute legendary game
Dark Souls 1 blind as a teen was so fucking bleak and oppressive, and I loved every second of it so much. Only made it to lvl 36 on my first char, with drake sword and some heavy armor lol
Dark souls one got me into the genre but i actually put more playtime into DS2. Something about that world caught my interest and i completely loved it. But Solaire can never be topped as a companion.
We stan Gaping Dragon in this house
The DS2 glazer hit UA-cam wow
ds2 longform glaze WILL be coming
worth the wait good job cupcakesouls
DS1 is a work of art
This video changed my life
Absolute cinema 🙌
W vid 🔥
The first Dark Souls will always be my favorite of the three. For reasons I've never been able to articulate. Something about it just feels cozy. I played the original when it first came out on the PS3 and even though it was the latest and greatest hot new thing, something about it felt familiar, and it wasn't just that I had played Demons Souls before it. The way it plays, the environment, the way the developers used slight of hand to make it appear that there is no loading happening and the whole world is connected.
By comparison, Elden Ring while technically superior, does not give me that same feeling of wonder I had when I first played Dark Souls. That's not to say Elden Ring isn't a great game, because it is. Even though the curtain was pulled back a long time ago and we know how everything works in it, DS1 will always be one of those comfort games I'd fire up if I was ever feeling down.
Being able to just teleport around in the sequels and the frequency of bonfires took away pretty much all of the immersion. Although Bloodborne is an exception somehow. That game has unforgettable atmosphere. Good video
It for sure hurt the immersion, I think it would've been better to follow dark souls 1 rules and give teleportation later instead of at the start. Though to design a game like that is a lot harder
@cupcakesouls they've done it once, they can do it again
No one wants to run four marathons worth of distance to get to a merchant or a blacksmith , DS2 had them all in the hub area and that was the norm for most souls game after it because that's the right way .
Went back after Elden Ring…felt ancient lol…
Don't know if perhaps you're a streamer or present somewhere else. Either way it seems to be a first video and it was very enjoyable. Good job.
@@cantrespawn1460 I stream on twitch and post on TikTok as well, thank you 🪿
A youtube praising gimmick bosses in the souls series is definitely a breath of fresh air. My favorite DS1 boss is artorias because of the build up and the fight but I understand that if every boss was like him he wouldn't feel special. That's is one thing missing from DS3 for me. Almost every boss is kinda the same because it only tests you in a very specific way. Dodge alot of attacks that, some fast some delayed and attack after that. I love dark souls 3 but dark souls 1 is on a different level.
PEAKKKKKK
After I finished watching I wept tears of both joy and sadness for this video was an emotional rollercoaster that included all facets of life. It made me reconsider my mere existence in the bold face of adversity and challenges to overcome.
Yo, this was great! Can't wait to not watch your Bloodborne video because I haven't played it yet 😭
@@clara_roymore I totally suggest you do, it's an amazing game!
Would love to hear your thoughts on why people should/ should not delink the flame. I’ve always been against it but I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!
I'll probably make a video on the various dark souls endings, I think it's an interesting topic for sure
Top souls yapper has come to UA-cam
Could you do a video on blood borne it’s definitely the closest to matching that dark souls 1 feel
I have a few videos planned on bloodborne :)
I agree, Dark Souls 1 has an x factor for me that 2 and 3 couldnt replicate. As much as I love 2 and 3, 1 will forever be my favourite.
Also just a friendly suggestion, if you slow the commentary down a bit I think viewers might get more out of your video (I know I would). That being said, great vid and I'm subscribing 👍

OUHHHH!!!
Yeah, I don't know why "gimmick boss" is such a swear word. I don't want to fight a giant dude in armor every time. I want variation.
If I entered every boss fight knowing that I simply had to learn X boss's 8 moves and then I could hack him to death, that would be boring as hell.
I love when the game changes it up and I get to do something different. Remember the giant dragon in DS3, where you can either try to fight him (and die), OR run through the entire level, avoiding his attacks, and then do a plunging instant-kill at the end?
Wonderful.
Also, I disagree that DS2 has muddier colors than DS1. It has many of the most breathtaking visuals in the series. Are they completely disjointed? Oh yeah, definitely
Great video!
Hype for subway surfers
Nice video
Nice job
Cant believe you like the vajayjay dragon
Just started a new playthrough of DS1 the other day and cannot agree enough. I think DS2 might be the most overhated game ever though. If the gameplay felt smoother I think it would be my favorite out of the 3
i want moreeee, give me more
when's next video?
Two should be coming out this month! thank you :)
Heh… this is pretty gosh darn epic
Finally some peak Mid souls 1 slop
At least it's not a Trashen Ring video. Such a good game series buried under some open-world horse garbage. I'd rather people don't discover the series if that's going to be their first.
omg cupcake video wthwth
Unfortunately not even Elden Ring cares enough about the genuinely dynamic weight and physicality of DS1. The game is clunky by design. Suits of armor and weapons are realistic and the combat serves to have much richer depth than some of the other titles. It's very sad this never came back in other games bc the only other game I've played that bothered to put that much complexity and nuance of movement was Dragon's Dogma -- not even a Soulslike.
DS2 had more accurate armor , weapons and stances , wdym it was never replicated in later games .
162 likes 😱🔥 I think the yt algorithm likes u more than the tiktok one lmao
Great video, just slow down your speech a little bit haha it’s hard to keep up
