  • Here's a look at my HPI Sprint 2 "Get My Drift" project. Since I incorporated the Toyota Supra Aero 200mm body, I needed some new wheels. These HPI Works XSA wheels and HPI T-Drift tires worked perfect with the 9mm/6mm offsets (r/f)

    Looking good Rich! That Supra was definitely a good choice of body for this car and the wheels compliment it nicely!

    Rich I gotta say I enjoy your videos, very informative and well done. It makes me wanna go out and buy a drift rc. However my new team durango detc410 is my main focus. I really look forward to seeing some running videos in the near future and keep up the fantastic work. Well done.

      Thanks Will! I think my channel trys to focus on the unknown in the world of RC products. When I bought the 200mm Supra Body, I asked myself, what the hell size offset wheels do I need (The package said to use "offset" wheels!!) I took a stab in the dark with the 6mm/9mm set and it worked. I'm painting the DETC410's body tomorrow and should have it wrapped up and ready for the track next week. In the mean time, drift has been a focus and I got the RC4WD Gelande 2 about ready to re-emerge!

    Thanks for clarifying the body size compatibility and wheel offset. I'm catching up from my 22 year old HPI RS4 Pro2.

    To bad Hpi products are extremely over priced

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  10 років тому

      Yeah, the wheels were a bit much, but the body and tires were reasonable

    • @SeanLewisMedia
      @SeanLewisMedia 10 років тому

      Yeah I agree the body's are actually really well made, but it seems there option and upgrade parts a a bit pricey lol

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  10 років тому

      I agree on the option parts! Luckily my local shop gives my a "frequent buyer" discount! I'm curious to see if HPI's body quality will change, as they just outsourced all of the body manufacturing to overseas (It was mostly in Foothill Ranch, CA)

    my sprint 2 does not perform well at all now after fallowing this guide
    does not drift well and wants to just do donuts only
    any suggestions ?

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  10 років тому

      Much of it may have to do with the suspension set up. Weight of oil, spring rates, etc (which I really didn't cover in any of the series) I probably need a bit more info to help diagnose the issue though

    The RCNetwork how did you make your logo

    • @TheRCNetwork

      A friend of mine did the logo and the couple of intros I've used. He's also working on a cool outro right now

    What's the wheelbase of the body

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  7 років тому

      standard 1/10th scale touring/drift WB - when you see 190mm and 200mm, that's the width

    • @patrykmocarski9955
      @patrykmocarski9955 7 років тому

      The RCNetwork but what about the length from axle to axle

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  7 років тому

      Patrick__Starfish it’s pretty much standard on the HPI Bodies....at least what I have seen. I’ve mounted them to Sprint 2’s, Sakura and Yokomos

    • @patrykmocarski9955
      @patrykmocarski9955 7 років тому

      The RCNetwork you see I'm building a custom chassis and I need to know the wheelbase length from center to center of the axle so I can start without the body

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  7 років тому +1

      Here's the specs on the car it was made for: Specifications: Length: 17" (431mm) Height: 5" (127mm) Width: 7.9" (200mm) Wheelbase: 10" (254mm)
      718 - RTR SPRINT 2 SPORT W/ TOUREZA BODY (PAINTED/200mm); 719 - RTR SPRINT 2 SPORT W/ 2006 HPI IMPREZA BODY (200mm) Pre-assembled 1/10th scale electric 4WD racing car with radio system and painted bodyshell.

    Looks very cool man! Do you have any idea for drift tires for the HPI WR8? The wheels on it are 2.2-12mm hex. The outer diameter od the on road tire on it is 80mm. Everything I see is only 63mm and just looks retarded on my car. Wondering if you would know :o)

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  10 років тому

      I did a quick search and found this: driftmission.com/speedline-2-2-wheels-and-tires/
      Have you looked into making your own from ABS? It might be some trial and error, but I have a vid on it. Also, I've seen guys in the worst case scenario just tape the existing tires with black electrical tape to get some drift on! You can also search through asiatees, rcmart and and other offshore rc warehouses. They always have odd stuff

    • @BushmanofYukon
      @BushmanofYukon 10 років тому

      The RCNetwork Thanks a bunch for the link. It doesn't say how big they are though. It only says slightly larger...lol! Standard I believe is 60-63 mm. They need to be close to the stock 80mm to look proper. Radial thickness of the abs pipe isn't enough. A friend made some for his 2.0"wheels so I don't believe it would even fit for 2.2 or is that what you did? If I had a mini lathe I could get a solid chunk of plastic and turn out some sweet tires...lol! Not sure what to do actually. The Maddrift has much larger wheels/tires being a 1/8 scale but it has 17mm hex :o(

    • @BushmanofYukon
      @BushmanofYukon 10 років тому

      The RCNetwork I was jokin' with my buddy yesterday about wrapping electrical tape around the tires...lol! It wouls definitely stick to thos sticky tires well :o)

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  10 років тому

      Cool Deal. Try it! Just tape in the direction of the rotation.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  10 років тому

      Yeah, I did the ABS route because of the width of the tires on the Porcshe I was doing. The tires over all were smaller than the stock tires though. That's the problem with some of these non-mainstream vehicles. The Kyosho DRX Rally I have has kyosho-only wheels and the tires are odd too. To make it worst, it's a larger than 12mm hex and uses a 10mm nut! Maybe time to trade in the HPI WR8 for a 1/10th scale touring/drift car. The options are endless for 1/10th scale!
