No comments? What happened? Did UA-cam erase them? Isn't anyone wanting to express their mind & heart about this sermon?

There are no comments because for many years every video we put up had comments disabled. We were unable to respond and moderate the comments. Comments were only recently turned on.

@@illbehonest This sermon is long for the content & does not have much information about repentance as I expected to hear given the picture of the video is explicit on repentance. However, it is a very important sermon, topic & it does contain very important information & insight on the topic. It sure got my attention & I will relisten to it because I did not understand & grasp all the essential information as the video was exhaustive.

So are we not allowed to watch basketball games? I'm not asking out of mockery or anything like this but out of sincerity. I'm a new believer, only truly came to Christ a few months ago and I want desperately to be a more pleasing sacrifice to him, my savior. I've been told by many solid, biblical preachers that things like personal hobbies are ok so long as they never become idols. I like to play videogames, read fantasy novels, camping, stuff like that. Certainly I do less than I used to, I spend a lot of time in church, outreach and Bible study, reading the Bible, prayer, I'm desperate to understand Jesus and the Christian faith (hence why I ask questions like these) so I have less time than I used to for my own hobbies but I don't mind. I'm also more selective about what I play and read now but I need to know if I have to give it up entirely. It's not worth my soul. I could use guidance from my brothers and sisters.

Hey there, thanks for your concerns. I really appreciate your desire to honor Christ in all of your life, it is very encouraging to hear. Praise God for your salvation.
When Pastor Tim mentioned seeing a basketball game at 47:35, I do not believe he was condemning playing or watching sports. Rather, I think he was referring to an attitude that someone in a church service might have, which would be along the lines of "when will the sermon be over?", "I already know what the Gospel is", and "I just want to go play basketball right now". If I understand correctly, I believe he is talking about someone who could care less about Christ, but is wanting the church service to be over so that he can go play basketball (because that is what he values).
The above paragraph is more in regard to Tim's statement about watching basketball. Below I will try to provide you with some of my thoughts about your actual question.
My understanding is that God created all things good, that nothing is to be rejected if it received with thanksgiving, and that we are to receive and partake of the blessings that God has given us with thanksgiving (1 Timothy 4:3-5). God has given us this material world to enjoy, and we should enjoy it properly with thanksgiving to Him.
Consider also 1 Corinthians 10:23, where Paul speaks of all things being lawful but not everything being helpful. I personally used to play a lot of video games, both before and after being saved. However, I do not play them because they do not satisfy me, they instead cause me to desire them more, which is not helpful in loving God first.
I do not want to bind your conscience where the Word of God does not, so please read what I say carefully. Something meaningful that you may want to consider is why you play video-games, read fantasy novels, camp, and so on. These are not wrong to do, unless of course they are sinful in their content, but you seem to be already removing that kind of material from your life. That being said, I do think that as you grow in your love for Christ, you may give up these things that you enjoy because you love Christ more. In other words, as your spiritual appetites grow, you will find yourself more and more hungry for spiritual things and you may cease to play video games, for example, because you would rather do something else. I would encourage you to read Psalm 16 and Psalm 73, and consider God as our greatest delight. Just to reiterate, I am not saying that you cannot enjoy those other things.
I pray this comment is a help and blessing to you.
