Matt, i think thesis episodes are So helpful for the Beginner shooter out there. Because you know the beginner shooter doesn't really read the whole manual. Also some handguns are hard to field strip than others. Another great video Mrgunsngear.
Hey first time firearm owner here. Thanks for this video! It was a great help for my APX. I will be saving this for next time I need to maintain this weapon😁👍🏻
I just discovered your channel. Thank you! I bought my APX few weeks ago and I needed to clean it today. I’m French but I didn’t find any video in french about Beretta APX. Your video was a great help for me.
To disassemble the APX I don't lock the slide back - only push the button and rotate the lever. I saw this method on Hickok45 - the easiest pistol to disassemble.
You should release the striker before rotating the takedown lever, but otherwise, yes, it's super easy, and locking the slide back just makes things harder.
Plamen Stoychev Absolutely agree! No need to lock the slide or pull the trigger after even, just pull the trigger and hit the take down lever and it comes right off.
I’ve found pulling the trigger first, then pushing the button and flipping the switch up automatically pushes the slide forward and it comes right off. No need to lock the slide, or pull the trigger after. Excellent cleaning video!
Great Vid. I have the APX Tactical. and I was really battling the pin to pull the slide lock out. Your correct.. they are super tight when they are brand new. It took me a little be of tapping, but it finally released. Thanks for the video
Thx for Vid. Just bought an APX last week - my first weapon - and this video realy made my life after the first 400 rounds easier! In general - I like your Channel. Keep on going.
You weren't kidding about how tight the slide removal lever is. Mine will not move down without carefully using a cloth and pliers. It's way too difficult. Hopefully it loosens up.
I had a super tight removal lever. I return it to the store. They tried to figure out, because Beretta already sent them back several pistols with the same problem, saying that there were nothing wrong, so the gunsmith from the store, told me just to carefully push it to a super hard surface. They did it on the counter. After 3 months of shooting, the lever became less and less tight. So, just go and shoot. It will eventually become less tight.
I just went thru it. People are not recognizing how far the take down lever needs to be set out and it’s not a push, it requires a “TAP” with a punch, might loosen up to a push but new out the box it’s a tap.
I don't understand the gripe with it. I love the look of it and having those raised notched makes pulling the slide extremely easy even if you dont have dry hands. Imagine a new gun owner with sweaty palms trying to pull back a smooth slide. These make it impossible not to get a good grip to pull the slide back.
Thank you for the video. I understand the importance of cleaning after each use, however, how often should I clean the APX if I am not shooting on a regular basis..?
On the original full sized APX, that little dingus that pops up on top of the rear slide when you pull the trigger. Was that meant so you wouldn’t NDC while the gun was holstered?
Hey Matt. Since the trigger group is modular, and both the compact & Centurion have the same slide/barrel, do you think if I got the mid size frame and mag, I can covert my SC to C? 13 rounder to 15 rounder, or vice versa.
I just bought an apx and i have a question. I heard it was bad to dry fire these pistols because they are striker fire. Is that true? Thanks for the video brother, great job!
Are you liking this gun? I like glocks, but I prefer to modify them. Better trigger(apex), sights, trijicon, stippling, I like polymer 80 frames better. I really like the apx full size. I didn't buy one because of the size. I like the centurion size better. Do you like this gun better than a glock gen 5. The gen 5 mos glock have not hit my local gun shops as of yet, and the apx centurion has not as well. Loki tactical will cut the apx slide for a trijicon red dot. I'm 52 and the red dot makes sense. I'm not a stock glock fan, and I'd like to have a carry gun the size of the apx that is in the factory stock condition. I will send it to loki tactical for the rmr cut. Do you like this gun enough to carry it for self defense?
Trying to locate suppressor height replacement sights with tritium or fiber. I have seems some with fit issues mentioned but I am unable to locate any suppressor height options. Any suggestions?
You used CLP throughout most of the video and then used oil through the needle bottle. Are the different substances? Asking because I thought CLP was both a cleaner and oil.
Can Lucas CLP do the same work? And if I get CLP, do I need anything else for my gun? Or is this all in one. Just curious if I need a solvent clean also if I get CLP
Can I ask you how much was your light and does it work good? If so is there a link you can send or put up? I have a APX compact also just trying to find a good affordable light. Thanks
Do you clean your extractor also? And if so after how many rounds? I clean the exterior area as in your current vid. However wanted to clean my extractor from inside but haven't found any vids on how to go about doing so on this gun. Have put over a 1000 rounds through it so far and would like to get extractor out and clean that area from inside also. Can you post a vid on that? Thanks for the very informative videos.
Your recoil spring looks like a thin spring on bottom and a thicker spring on top. Mine looks like both springs along the whole piece one inside of another. Is that supposed to look like that or is something wrong? It all functions fine and loads another round every shot but it just looks different. When I rack my first shot it gets jammed and needs a tap on the back to fully chamber the round. I'm guessing I just needed a cleaning
@@TJ-ji4gn Pretty sure the slide on the Compact and Centurion are identical. Only difference is the length of the grip 13 rounds for the Compact and 15 rounds for the Centurion. So, you could buy a Compact and change it to a Centurion by buying a grip module and 15 round mag or go the other way turning a Centurion into a Compact by buying a grip module and 13 round mag. Of course any version of the APX will take a larger mag. Clever!
Awesome video I have the same exact gun and it’s my first gun. By the way, what light did you have in the gun? I have a crimson trace light on it and it’a a little too large, it fell off while shooting.
I'm not loyal to any gun brand. I just like guns. I own a GLock and it's fantastic. Does what Glock's do. That said I'm thinking about adding another polymer striker fired gun. Probably a full size. Looking at the FDE M&P 2.0 in .40 full size or the new Glock gen 5 mos 17.
Ask any professional not paid to say otherwise and they will say Glock 19 but it's 357sig 40 and 10mm for me LoL. All Glocks lighter simpler less weight. The arex Delta looks promising though.
Does anybody no where i can get a heavier recoil spring for Beretta apx centurion! I have bought the the green spring but can't find a upgrade for recoil spring?

How to clean an APX: Sell it for a Glock. Don’t clean the Glock. All jokes aside, you should narrate books. These videos are always relaxing. And now I kinda want a APX.
Try not locking the slide back. Shot my APX for the first time today and could not disassemble without unlocking the slide. Then it was easy to press the button and slide the lever down.

GunGlutton it’s aimed at new owners of this particular gun. Some guns have their quirks and differences. Buttttt I don’t even clean my pistols any more. I don’t shoot them near enough to need to clean them. I wouldn’t clean my Glock until about 5,000 rds
I really wanted to like this... having other Berettas that I use practically and wouldn’t rocknroll without... I wanted this APX to be as awesome as it is fugly. But after a test drive... I hated it. I would say: if you’re not one of those who learned &train with a hand-over-top slide racking, and you regularly use a thumb-forefinger-pinch slingshot racking, AVOID. The side “pillars” are absolutely awful. No grip at all when oily or wet (even just a little bit), and even when dry it is painful and difficult. I just don’t understand how Beretta figured conventional serrations weren’t a good idea... I even found over-the-top not exactly easy. The trigger & grip were okay, but not special enough to make up for this fatal flaw, in my opinion. Instead, I chose the SW M&P 2.0 Compact (I think the APX I tried was called “Centurion?”). It doesn’t turn me off Beretta forever, of course... but I do reckon that within a year or two, we are going to see a redesign of that slide. The unique “look” just doesn’t mitigate its poor slide grippiness.
@ Mort Busines - Interesting. The serrations on my full size and compact worked beautifully with sweat and rain. ua-cam.com/video/mSRymU-EIA8/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/txGriD_VMFI/v-deo.html
