The Ride Description
Inspired by the 1989 Ron Howard film Parenthood, Treviño began writing The Ride in 2015, the year his son Luke graduated from high school. He didn’t complete the song until 2020 when his youngest daughter Presley graduated from high school. Treviño,“The analogy of raising a family as a terrifying, thrilling roller coaster ride versus the monotonous merry-go-round, really stuck with me. Alan Miller and I finished the lyric first, but I ended up spending several years getting the song vibe exactly where I wanted it.”
