    That Thundercross looks amazing. Almost looks a little wide in the toe box. That coupled with the 4mm drop and deep lugs might make this the perfect UK trail runner.

    Loved the Sense Pro line and was sad to see it go. Hoping the Thundercross will fill that space for technical fast running with low drop. Fingers crossed it's not just in their "wear to Whole Foods" line...

      Hello. Sense 4 Pro is probably my all-time favorite trail running shoe. I cannot see a proper replacement of this shoe that doesn’t ressemble to anything I know. 😢

      I've found that the Pulsar Trail Pro has been a good analog - I held onto a pair of Sense Pro 4s and have compared them against the Pulsar Trail Pro and they handle similarly in my mind on runnable and mildly technical trails (and in wet/dry conditions) in northern California.

    That Thundercross looks awesome. I never liked the Speedcross (way too much drop, too firm), but the lugs on other Salomon models don't cut it when it's really muddy (at least with the clay where I live), so I've had to go with other brands that don't fit my feet as well. Maybe this will fill the gap.

    Have to say as a huge fan of the Sense Ride series I am a bit concerned about a move to a softer midsole. I loved that it had a bit of a firmer ride.

      looks lower stack overall which i'd welcome. SR3&4 were a bit stiff.

      @@ozenfant_ozn I have not tried the SR3 but have been a fan of the SR1 and 2 and the SR4 is arguably my favorite trail shoe ever. Might still give the SR5 a try even though I have mostly moved to another shoe brand/model.

      Another big fan here of the saga since v1. This new version looks really cool. Have been using the Ultra Glide for a while, so the midsole should be familiar. Looking forward to next year and give them a try

      It looks like the pulsar trail with better traction tbh, and that will be the perfect shoe for me!:-)

    When he says, "Energy foam" does he mean, Energy Surge? Thanks for the coverage, Sam.

      From what we can tell/ heard yes Energy Surge and Energy are the same compound.

    Hi would u recommend these over speedcross? And would u size up or stick with ur usual. I usually wear 10.5 for all shoes, and wondering if I shud size up to 11

    • @RoadTrailRun
      @RoadTrailRun 9 місяців тому

      For actual running yes Thundercross unless most of your hiking running is in deep mud snow. As for sizing we all felt due to front mesh they ran large. See our written review for our 3 testers view www.roadtrailrun.com/2023/07/salomon-thundercross-review-salomons.html

      @@RoadTrailRun thanks again. So u mean better to stay with ur same “regular” size shoe. Like for me 10.5?
      The reason I ask is because I ordered the Salomon cross hike 2 shoe and they fit better with 11 but for other shoes I wear a 10.5 so wondering if I shud follow my Salomon size or just go with my regular 10.5. Thanks again in advance

    • @RoadTrailRun
      @RoadTrailRun 9 місяців тому

      I would stay with your usual run shoe size. Now if for casual use or if you have a very wide forefoot you might size up

    Let’s see if Salomon has inside rubber where the front toe protection is.
    The Ultra Glide has it and absolutely destroys toenails

      I was definitely not a fan of the ultra glide. I had to chuck them because the insoles couldn't remain in place regardless as to how much I tried to keep them stationary.
