couldn't stop thinking about the "they look like cousins" comment during the last clip 'cause, like, you know what causes birth defects? inbreeding (not that i think they're actually cousins, but i'm surprised that connection between incest and birth defects was never made while filming this video)
Maury, Jerry Springer, Judge shows, and Cops were essential viewing when growing up for many of us. Especially when your sick at home, hanging with Grams.
A bit of insight on the show as I live close to it in CT and my sister worked there for a short while. Majority of the people here are actors. They occasionally have real people but it’s pretty much all actors. The real people are usually never the paternity stuff. It’s like the episodes where “My teen wants to be a prostitute” or “My abusive husband needs to stop” that typically have real people flaked in with actors.
I heard Maury on a radio interview about 20 years ago say he always asked to keep the results locked up from him until the reading for dramatic effect.
Honestly the only “civil” episodes I’ve seen on this show are ones where the potential father passed and the family wants to know if the child is related to them or not. That and one where a woman and her gay best friend had a drunk one night stand and needed a dna test😂
"That can't be my baby, we only had sex once." ... I'm sorry but last time i checked, it doesn't take multiple sexual encounters to get a woman pregnant. Like I'm sure mostly everytime a woman gets pregnant it's only one time having sex.
My brother and I watched this show way too much as kids (thriving on the drama) but it drove my dad insane lmao. Great video and I hope you guys do more collabs of this
How on Earth did Gunnar avoid Maury until now??? I'm genuinely curious because he's up there with Jerry Springer (RIP) with episodes AND Pop Culture impact. I mean, I figured that he'd at least be familiar with the memes. Huh. Anyway, yeah, watching was definitely a family affair in my household. My mom would have it on a lot and no matter how much he tried, before the show was halfway through, my dad would be trying to guess who was lying. Also, ProTip: the quieter the woman trying to find her child's father is, the better the chance that the dude IS the father. There can be exceptions to this but 9 out of 10 times, as y'all saw with this episode, at least one of the kids in question is theirs if they're chill. I strongly suggest you guys look into The Marisol Saga when it comes to future Paternity Test episodes and there's a woman named Denetra who is literally the best guest Maury ever had. She was so hilarious and Iconic that Maury actually hired her after a while! You'll love her! Happy New Year, boys.
Fun fact... Did you know if you pause the show on the crowd There's usually cardboard cutouts of the host placed in all the empty seats to make the crowd book full. There were like 15 different Jerry springers in the crowd during our filming 😂
Maury used to do interesting human stories and feel-good talk stuff. It only later became “the paternity test show” as his one-off shows earlier were always popular. Kinda sad that’s what it became known as because Maury always came off as a decent person among the daytime talk variety of the 90s and early 2000s.
Couple of notes for those who are curious: The audience is told when to boo and cheer when they come out and before the DNA test by a producer sitting in the front row. There are episodes where you can see them in the background looking at the audience telling them to boo. The children are actually there in the studio and they are placed in a room completely separated from the main hall with staff taking care of them at all times.
So my aunts brother (not related to me) went as an audience to one of those shows I think it was Jerry Springer and there is a telepropter there that tells the audience when to "boo" when to "aw" etc. Jerry Springer I am pretty sure is fully scripted, but I assume Maury is somewhat similar with the audience being told to do something.
i think you guys need to watch The Jeremy Kyle Show. it's essentially the same as this but british, and 90% of the contestants are missing 80% of their teeth. but the vibe is the same and they have a big ass security guard who is utilised at least once per episode
19:39 I’m sorry, but she looks like when Kristen Wiig plays Doonese from the Lawrence Welk show (the one with tiny hands and giant forehead) IM SO SORRY
8:15 hell yeah! The crowd is electric! Gunner, these ppl get into it sometimes too! IDK if anyone ever fist fought an audience member, as I can't see how for liability they'd let that, but I know guests have aggressively shouted and pointed directly at audience members before.. Shit goes off the rails sometimes and the producers probably love it!😂 Yea look for good ones where they go off on the audience or whatever... Actually I wonder if someone in the audience ever went nuts and started a fist fight 😂 Oh yeah I wanted to add, this came from the parent show, Jerry Springer I think...that or the TMZ guy owned it all I can't remember...anyway point being, from it's roots in Springer, they were big on audience involvement. They'd always end the shows bringing everyone back out on stage and the spectators had a chance to 'ask question' to anyone, but it was always a shit talk time 😂
The video swiping out of the way when gunnar does the get out of here hand gesture with his thumbs up at 00:27 was pure editing genius and i bet it got missed by like 75% of the people viewing such a shame
8:06 also expanding on what you said, its easier if you can see the parents pictures of them at the same age. My sister just had a baby that has the fattest chipmunk cheeks. You wouldnt know it now by how she looks, but as a baby my sister also looked like that. Its way easier to see when comparing my sisters baby photos to her daughter now
I always love videos with Gunnar, you guys play off each other so well! Andy please watch the 2000s show Cheaters and maybe you can make a video about it. I feel like it is right up your alley!
Two teenagers (mom had to drop out of school to take care of baby.) Dad who was 18, fresh out of high school calls baby a mistake, something no child should ever have to hear from anyone, especially from their father. Surprise surprise he’s the dad. So now you got two kids and one of them wants nothing to do with his kid, which he thinks is a mistake.

The real people are usually never the paternity stuff. It’s like the episodes where “My teen wants to be a prostitute” or “My abusive husband needs to stop” that typically have real people flaked in with actors.
I think this show is just like baby videos, but instead of preserving memories, the episodes are made to spark daddy issues
They do have segments where no one fights but they're usually really sad. Like someone wants to be the father and they aren't
I heard Maury on a radio interview about 20 years ago say he always asked to keep the results locked up from him until the reading for dramatic effect.
The nose zoom in gets me every time. This is great.
Honestly the only “civil” episodes I’ve seen on this show are ones where the potential father passed and the family wants to know if the child is related to them or not. That and one where a woman and her gay best friend had a drunk one night stand and needed a dna test😂
you guys should def do a whole series of some show together i love watching you guys together. you two are my two favorite youtubers right now.
You guys are hilarious also can very much relate to “DONT LEAVE THE TV ON IT WILL BURN INTO THE SCREEN!”
Also I wonder what the second one was…
I had a family member on Maury. He said it wasn't scripted but they did kinda plan it and push them to do shit.
What if Maurey just suddenly went, "the results are in!... Lauren, you are not the mother!!!"
"That can't be my baby, we only had sex once." ... I'm sorry but last time i checked, it doesn't take multiple sexual encounters to get a woman pregnant. Like I'm sure mostly everytime a woman gets pregnant it's only one time having sex.
I love both of you guys separately and together
0:11 tell me you just started taking improv classes without telling me you just started taking improv classes
happy new years, ghouls and fools, congrats on the baby
He IS the father!
Can milk is another name for baby formula milk. They come in cans when the mom chooses not to breast feed
Omg I wish I could have attended a live Maury show, looks LIT AS HELL
My favorite boys have returned! I love them together!!
13:10 Raymond Jr casually making faces, he must be trying his best to get disowned by the father.
I adore you two!!! The love is real with you two
My brother and I watched this show way too much as kids (thriving on the drama) but it drove my dad insane lmao.
I love how they turn the mics down so everyone has to scream to be heard
I love how you cooked a babys hairline then skipped it cause it was sad. Yeah it's Maury my sister used to watch this all the time.
Congrats on the pregnancy!
Your videos are just getting better and better, Andy! Thanks a lot for all of it, you're AWESOME! ❤
Fun fact... Did you know if you pause the show on the crowd There's usually cardboard cutouts of the host placed in all the empty seats to make the crowd book full.
There were like 15 different Jerry springers in the crowd during our filming 😂
Gunnar is in so many more main channel videos on other people's channels than his own.
3:58 “maybe she’s the father” killed me 😆💀
Maury used to do interesting human stories and feel-good talk stuff. It only later became “the paternity test show” as his one-off shows earlier were always popular. Kinda sad that’s what it became known as because Maury always came off as a decent person among the daytime talk variety of the 90s and early 2000s.
Plot Twist:Maury's The Father of Raymond Junior
Couple of notes for those who are curious:
The audience is told when to boo and cheer when they come out and before the DNA test by a producer sitting in the front row. There are episodes where you can see them in the background looking at the audience telling them to boo.
The children are actually there in the studio and they are placed in a room completely separated from the main hall with staff taking care of them at all times.
I really hope the adult Maury babies talk about their experiences on TikTok 🤣
So my aunts brother (not related to me) went as an audience to one of those shows I think it was Jerry Springer and there is a telepropter there that tells the audience when to "boo" when to "aw" etc. Jerry Springer I am pretty sure is fully scripted, but I assume Maury is somewhat similar with the audience being told to do something.
Discovered Gunnar recently, I’m a fan.
Found Andy through playlist , Andy chats bare Yapanese .
“he looks like jack from jack n the beanstalk” is too accurate
This is the best start to 2024 UA-cam could give me. Thank you both
i think you guys need to watch The Jeremy Kyle Show. it's essentially the same as this but british, and 90% of the contestants are missing 80% of their teeth. but the vibe is the same and they have a big ass security guard who is utilised at least once per episode
Technically, a bastard child is a child born out of wedlock.
Him staying or leaving won’t change that.
For a deep cut, find the old "guess at your own peril" drag shows 😂
I think a "can" of milk is supposed to either be dehydrated milk or baby formula. I hope that makes sense.
I love watching Gen z kids watch this because they say out loud what us millennial kids were thinking lol
Actually I wonder if someone in the audience ever went nuts and started a fist fight 😂
Oh yeah I wanted to add, this came from the parent show, Jerry Springer I think...that or the TMZ guy owned it all I can't remember...anyway point being, from it's roots in Springer, they were big on audience involvement. They'd always end the shows bringing everyone back out on stage and the spectators had a chance to 'ask question' to anyone, but it was always a shit talk time 😂
Gunnar and Andy New Years present!! :)
The video swiping out of the way when gunnar does the get out of here hand gesture with his thumbs up at 00:27 was pure editing genius and i bet it got missed by like 75% of the people viewing such a shame
I'm eating frosted mini wheats while watching this
8:06 also expanding on what you said, its easier if you can see the parents pictures of them at the same age.
My sister just had a baby that has the fattest chipmunk cheeks.
You wouldnt know it now by how she looks, but as a baby my sister also looked like that.
Its way easier to see when comparing my sisters baby photos to her daughter now
My parents got me to sign legal paperwork the same day I had my son while I was still totally out of it on medication
Wow that is very messed up
I always love videos with Gunnar, you guys play off each other so well! Andy please watch the 2000s show Cheaters and maybe you can make a video about it. I feel like it is right up your alley!
I don't really look like either of my parents, guess I just spawned out of the ether according to the Maury show.
By a can of milk 15:17 , im pretty sure she means baby formula powder, it comes in a can and it usually lasts like a week on average maybe
My favorite duo! LOVE this series.
the brief mention of the marriage document thing with no further explanation… i think i have whiplash
Someone who’s seen it. Why was the one they skipped so sad?
Two teenagers (mom had to drop out of school to take care of baby.) Dad who was 18, fresh out of high school calls baby a mistake, something no child should ever have to hear from anyone, especially from their father. Surprise surprise he’s the dad. So now you got two kids and one of them wants nothing to do with his kid, which he thinks is a mistake.
You two are like my favourite UA-cam influencer combo, I wanna buy you both a beer 🍺🍺😝
I love when how the audience is always on mom's side and then when they find out she's wrong they turn on her so quick!
well, happy new year to you too, Andy
